    Very good!..I did something like this in 1993...I bolted 7 tires together and secured them on the ground with a 6x6 post through the middle and embedded in the ground....it sure hurt when I didn't strike it correctly

    Thats a killer idea ; ) Going to make a few myself. Good for outdoors too since leaving any normal bag outside would only deteriorate over the years.

    Then wrap it in a high density foam and skin it !!!!
    So you don't have to avoid the joins between tyres. Good job lads !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hey great idea! I don't think there are any areas on campus where I can hang a bag from a tree, but the campus gym may have a few places where I can hang a 60 pound bag, with permission from the staff (though I'd probably need tape or something to make sure it doesn't repeatedly fly off from a roundhouse or boxing combo). Thanks for the help.

    its actually a kind of good thing to fracture the bones in the hand, train them hard, then w8 it to recover, voila, u got even harder bones on your hand....may be pretty painful, but it dont hurt later on if u hit something hard :)

    Tyre bags are great outside too, regular bags aren't always designed to take Scottish / English weather too well.
    Any updates on how well it's holding together with the 4 bolts?

    • @DoomRater
      @DoomRater 6 лет назад

      I constructed one using just some clothesline string holding the whole thing up and it only sagged a bit from weather. The way that thing was constructed, it'll outlast us all.

    I've seen some people get a sheet of bedding foam and some duck tape, find a tree in the middle of a public park, and turn that into their heavy bag (don't ask me what they do when it starts raining outside though).
    I'm currently living in a college dorm, but I don't wanna fall behind in bag work. I can't bring a full-on heavy bag in here for lack of space, and no drilling holes allowed, so no straight punching bags either. Any alternatives anyone can think of?

  • @Guishan_Lingyou

    must be something wrong with my bones. Broken my right hand a few times, and it seems to be more fragile after each time. And the middle knuckle swells up if you look at it cross-eyed.

    How are the top last bolts called the ones where you connect the top tire with the chains

  • @soldierx345
    @soldierx345 11 лет назад

    It depends on the break. He's talking about microfractures. Like what you get in Kyokushin Karate and Wing Chun. Those will make your bones stronger overall. I have the same deal with my middle knuckle, because I hit my heavy bag bare knuckle for a bit, then use gloves.

      i think we used ebay mate. search "boxing bag chain". as they usually come with a solid hook. or search "heavy duty S hook".

    Wouldn't this damage a good pair of boxing gloves if you were to really go hard on it every day?

    • @explosivefitnessuk
      @explosivefitnessuk  9 лет назад +3

      No mate, especially if they are leather. We have seen no problems in our gym while using it.
      The only time you will scuff/damage your gloves is if you don't punch it properly and you are skimming the bag and not hitting it flush.

    The heavy bag I made myself many years ago was an army duffel bag (the WWII type, with the two latches threading through four eyes) stuffed with layers of newspaper and old sheets or clothes. It has a lot less bounce, since bounce isn't what you really want. If it's too hard, increase the clothing. If it's too soft, add more newspaper.
