Thanks for the video it helped me a great deal. The thing about my FS250 is that I just got it out of the shop so after "I" put in a new spark plug I didn't know what to do till I saw your video.
Sir good day! Can you pls.tell me what to do on my stihl fs 120, since i bought it i noticed that engine loss of power after using an hour, now second problem is the idling the power head still rotating i have tried already to adjust it but still rotating slowly.
i would start with the simple stuff. spark plug first. check spark when it gets warmed up. sounds like a faulty carb though. here is a link to a complete tune up kit. amzn.to/2RfB4pd as far as the head staying spinning thats usualy a clutch issue. bad spring. heres a link to the part. amzn.to/2FiLguQ
@@smallengineguysi follow your advice now i have already adjusted the carburetor properly . And i changed the worn out spring of the clutch. Am happy to tell you that my fs 120 runs very smoothLy . Thanks a lot sir! God bless you.
Ok, FS250 I changed the carb, but it won't idle. I'm stumped. I pops then dies. URGGG!!! adjusted the hell out of it to no avail. I work on most of these all the time, but can't seem to get this one going.
coil or plug possibly? also it never hurts to take the muffler off and look for scratches on the piston. also sometimes its just flooded real bad i found if you force air threw the carb with an airhose while pulling it will dry it out and fire it up sometimes. make sure you have the gasket between the carb and engine on properly. it is also rare but bad jug gasket. do you hear a whistle when you pull it? that would be jug gasket. hope this helps.
Low screw is a courser adjustment. Very sensitive. I always stay away from it untill ive played with the high a bit. That dictates whether i need to adjust the low.
i use hipa products. they are oem spec at aftermarket prices. i am not allowed to list the price because i have an associates account with amazon just click the link amzn.to/3JL0XGW
I need more specific data. If it runs for 5 min then shuts off it could be a coil or bad fuel lines. If it runs for 10 seconds it could be bad fuel lines or carburetor.
@@smallengineguys it will run if you let it sit over night and pull the trigger but will only run for a few min. I put a new carb, fuel lines, spark plug, and coil, and primer bulb. Got Chinese parts because the dealer wanted $104 for a coil. Im about to throw the stupid thing and buy a echo.
@@Jv19979 ok this sounds like its running rich. To much gas. First make sure it has a new plug and there is good gap. Also take off the muffler and make sure the exhaust port is clear with no carbon. Check the screen in the exhaust for carbon if its clogged simply remove the screen. Now if all of that is good when you get it to fire and run turn the carburetor adjustment screw near the air filter clockwise untill it gets full rpm. You may need to turn the furthest screw in clockwise slightly as well. If it stops running turn both in till they are snug tight then try to start at full throttle. If it fires up you know its getting to much fuel because you basicaly just turned the fuel off. Now 1 full turn out both screws and try again. If you cant get the carb right it could be faulty. I do get a faulty one out of 20. Make sure your coil is gapped propper. I use a business card for a gapper when the magnet is lined up to the coil.
@@smallengineguys had it running for 10 min went to adjust the idle speed and was running pretty good for about 10 sec. Now it wont start. I left the spark plug put for a while put it back it. Now it will fire for about 1 sec.

Awsome. Glad i could help.
Excellent! Just what I needed and nothing more. Thanks very much.
Glad it helped!
Great video thank you! Mine bogs down at full throttle too. Did you start by turning the high screw to the left or right first? Thanks
left a quarter turn

How to replace primer bulb
Why didn't you adjust the low screw

Let's try that then
Great video. The only thing is that you were favoring it on the rich side. There is some white smoke, cause of the rich mix. Besides that great video.
Actualy i over mix the oil here at the shop 30to1 this way it gets a little extra from me. Some of these sat a long time and need it.
