for budget: EW200 vs 7hz sonus? Are they that different and worth purchasing both or is just better to buy one and search for something to complement either one? (rock, metal, vocals, eletronic rock, gaming) And which other IEM could complement the short comings of either EW200 or Sonus?
Just purchased the ew200s after a good bit of vacillation - far too much at this price point really. I must say, I enjoy the vivid and colourful descriptions and the fun you seem to be having playing with language while conveying concepts very effectively.I look forward to checking out future content.
Ted, I bought the new ddhifi janus 3 as a blind buy since there a just a reviews on it. I like the looks and ddhifi's build quality. Paired it with the divinus velvet, the vocals are bright with just a bit warmth but it's buttery smooth and a joy to listen to. Bass is tight and treble has enough air and sparkle both more than enough to compliment the mids.
Good review! I’m thinking about getting the 7hz Sonus because my EM6L had Q.C. Issues. The sleeve on the right side came off when I changed eartips, so I sent them back. The Sonus is cheaper and looks better for me. The EM6L does sound really good though, but I hate the nozzles on them. Only thing that concerns me on the Sonus is the large nozzles on them. Cheers!
@@KopiOkaya Thanks for the information. I will definitely buy the Sonus. I had the Legato and didn’t care for it, too much Bass and not balanced for me. Sent it back. Only other 7hz I have is the Timeless, so this will be my second one.
@@sagaman4785thing is with the legato you need to use aftermarket wide bore tips or it sounds too dark. I use tri clarion, dunu s and s and spiral dots. I suppose spring tips would work great as well.
For me, Quintet renders cymbals that are mixed a bit in the background like so: sssss, sssss instead of tsssss, tsssss. To me, that means it doesn't offer enough sparkle/bite between 8kHz and 12 kHz. I still hear very high frequency sounds so I don't think it's because of my hearing. I've tried Kiwi Ears Quintet with three different sources (Chord Mojo, HRT Micro streamer and iBasso DX80) and while there are miniscule differences between them (HRT Microstreamer is brighter than Chord Mojo) they aren't enough to impact my listening experience. Since the IEMS have long nozzles and sit deep inside the ear, trying different tips hasn't made any difference either. My main test tracks are: Darkwater - A New Beginning (Progressive Metal/Power metal)(cymbals in the background all the way through), Macross Frontier - Triangler (J-Pop)(Bass separation) and K/DA - Villain (K-Pop/Synth)(Depth of bass and ability of treble to render high frequency percussion that pans between left and right several times during the track).
I actually like the tonality of the sonus over the hexa. Vocals and instruments just sound more correct...if that makes sense. Hexa has more upper treble energy....a little more texture to the low end but...i just love the way the sonus sounds on vocals and higher pitched instruments. Its honestly incredible. Imaging is extremely good. I can game with them which is a huge bonus. Positioning of footsteps and gunshots is easy to pick up on. Even has nice height to it so if someones above, you can still tell where the enemy is. Just a good balanced iem with beautiful vocal tonality. Oh Wonder has two lead vocalists (male and female), they both just sync up so well on these. Songs like "shark", "lose it", and "I wish I never met you (acoustic)", etc, just sound sooooooo gooood
@@SuperChonk your review on phoenixcall is going to determine if I'm to buy it or not. I like good macrodynamics, separation and imaging in my music, if phoenixcall does that so well it's going to be a straight up purchase for me.

I tried to enjoy the em6l but to my ear it's too boxed in compared to the ea500, so I ended up getting rid of it. I really like the quintet though. Excellent imaging and stage. Have you tried the Melody yet!? I got mine a week ago.... I imagine it's headed for the front of the planar pack.
I’m getting the melody in a day or 2 it’s on the way. This just goes to show you prefer a neutral warm signature rather than an our right warm one haha.
Personally I prefer the Hype a little more as the tonal weight is a little thicker compared to the thinner Quintet. Both has excellent technicalities though!
@@SuperChonkI SO enjoy your videos and your sense of humor throughout. So glad ya have fun with your videos bro. Thanks for the good fun informative vid!
This is really a matter of preference. The EM6L if you like a warm, smooth and musical signature while the Sonus is more technically competent with better resolution and details. If you ask me, I personally like the Sonus just a bit more but please factor in your preferences!
Thank you for the suggestion, one more question from my side, I know hype 2 review is not out yet but which one is your recommendation - hype 2 or quintet?
All 3 are good. The Fudu has the Divinus Velvet Eartips included which is great. Sound wise, it is the popular natural warm signature but the cable provided is the weakest. The Sonus on the other hand has a natural signature that is very refined sounding The Simgot EM6L has a very nice warm tone that makes vocals very lush to listen to. I would pick the Sonus or the Simgot EM6L
I think the Sonus has better positioning chops for shooters but can come across as a little more fatiguing for longer gaming sessions while the EW200 is more forgiving but still has good positioning details just not as good as the Sonus. You should be able to use the EW200 longer as it is more forgiving.
