I understand the appeal of mystery boxes and blind boxes. But there’s a part of me that refuses to buy them because they are actually hurtful in a way. The gambling aspect is incredibly addicting which is just wrong to package it for children. Also the amount of waste when people get multiple items. Waste of money and materials. Yes people could donate but I don’t want to buy something I will most likely be donating. It’s such a crazy concept
Maybe they could release two color ways of the same item and one collection color way could be in non blind boxes. That way you could get the item you wanted and not waste money getting multiple of the same thing.
Agreed on the waste! IMO it should be mandatory for the companies to give the customers a chance of knowing what's inside if they wanted. Like codes or other indicators (LPS & numbers, MIM hole hack etc.).
oh my! I did not even think about the gambling aspect! Yes, I agree! All of the blind boxes out there, teaching children to gamble. We do know that blind boxes are a cash grab.
girl u lost me at the gambling part😭 I had mystery boxes when I was a kid all the time and I didnt care about getting every one, I just liked how it was a surprise. I've never known a kid to think of it any other way😭
@@Bbyatecassat a very young age I had no knowledge of gambling but had addictive and intrusive tendencies about playing something until I won. Just cause it didn’t happen for you doesn’t mean it’s not a legit concern
@@Bbyatecass I mean it IS a Gamble, it's the very definition of the word. It's a gamble to see if you have the UR/R or not. It's no different to a Gacha game if you think about it which is very well known to be seen as Gambling. Sure kids don't think of it as gambling because what kid would? But it's still selling gambling to children regardless.
Hearing you donate your unused items to charity is very comforting💜 I’ve been thinking a lot lately about our impact as humans/our waste/etc. and it makes me really happy to know you’re doing your part in sharing and taking care of the world. I love the oven bake kits. That experience seemed magical. You mix up a dough, mold it and bake it and open the oven to a freshly baked warm scented plushie?!! Expensive, but worth it to me. The toaster doesn't give anywhere near the same experience.
True I think Jackie should try their luck getting the rest of the oven bake kits’ collection instead of the toaster it’s a low chance to get the other half of that collection
But the toaster is more affordable to people who can’t get the baking one.
As a parent, I would’ve only bought one of these, so it wouldn’t have been a big deal. It is a big deal to you because you want the whole collection. Most people can’t afford to try to buy the whole collection. I think these are absolutely adorable.
I feel like most little kids don't care to collect them all like marketing teams think. Most are content with what they get. And I think that mindset is important to keep in tact rather than encouraging them to try for the whole set.
That's a mindset I go into when it comes to these things anyways.
As a parent I have 3 kids and I typically would buy at least 2 because kids love to not share at yound ages.

I can see me wanting one type of them and wanting the whole collection or at least a few. When I was a kid, I collected Beanie Babies, and I wanted many.
@@lindseyziegler9869I was just thinking that. As a kid I would’ve wanted a specific toy from the collection and would’ve wanted to keep buying more in hopes of finally getting the one I wanted. Then I’d have been disappointed that I had 4 of the same pancake cat and none of the one I really wanted. Fortunately for me in this specific situation the one I wanted was the panda which is one of the most common 😅
Getting them in store wouldn’t be any different than getting them online. Stores get them in a sealed box that they take the top off and out directly in the shelf. There’s still the possibility of getting an entire case of the same toy. Happens with any toy that has a variety option. If you buy online, for most variety toys, you actually can get an option to choose which one you want. But “mystery” option toys mostly delete this option because that’s part of the gimmick that ensures you buy more. When you order something online someone just picks up a random case and puts in the amount you ordered in your box. There’s even a documentary about Amazon order pickers that show how it’s done 😂
The best "mystery" toys are the ones where you don't mind which one you get.
Geez. I prefer Chinese blind boxes, where usually buying a case guarantees one of each common with a chance for a rare.
What she means is if she was picking them herself in a store, she could inspect the codes and see if there is a difference. Then she'd pick all different codes and the hope is getting all different items. Buying online doesn't allow that option.
@@poramentatoes And not all mystery boxes you can do that with. She mentioned in the video these had all the same code! That's not always an option..and even ones with different codes the codes may not indicate what's inside but be for something else. It's unreliable until you figure out if it works on that specific product! :/

I got doubles of the panda for Christmas last year, which I'm not too mad about since it was the one I wanted. I still like them and they're my little panda twins now :)

I just want to say that I love Jackie so much! She is 100% my comfort RUclipsr, and she has been for as long as I can remember, when most of my favorite RUclipsrs, don’t post, I feel lost, and that I don’t have anything to watch or anything to entertain me, and as a person with ADHD, I can hardly handle myself, then I come upon Jackie’s channel that has hundreds and thousands of amazing videos that are all lengthy and heartwarming that remind me of my childhood and innocence, length, quality, who can ask for more! got a love this girl ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yeah we hate those repeats too there should be a code on the side to make sure this does not happen. Especially to kids who are so excited and then get a double think of those cute little faces😢. Love your content Jackie, I still think the oven ones were made better and you got more bang for your buck.😊
@chrisw8389 companies would never do that. The mystery boxes increase their sales significantly bc ppl are buying more of the product to get the entire collections... as u can see in this video, she bought 10 of the product rather than 3 for what would be the same result if they marked them. That’s more than a 200% increase in sales. Also if they marked them I guarantee resellers would be going as crazy as they were for the Starbucks x Stanley cups throwing hands to get the rare versions and marking them up significantly online 🤷🏼♀️

Some of the MLP mystery minis a couple years back did do this and each has different codes, I had a note in my phone with all the codes I already had.
I've bought 2 of these for my kid and she loves them. In looking for different ones I was sniffing all the boxes. 😂 We got the pop tart unicorn and the peanut butter tiger. Went to get another one and the we sold out.
The panda reminds me of Pillow People. They were pillows that were different characters from the 80s/90s. I had a few of them when I was a kid.
This was something I completely blocked out of my memory. I couldn't place why it sounded so familiar, looked it up, and audibly went "Oh GOD... THESE 😟"
These are so cute! I'm a little disappointed that you weren't able to find any of the ones that are rare especially the strudel or unicorn!
I got 1 of these in December from walmart for 9 bucks and got the strawberry strudel puppy and it smells so good. I made a tiktok and got like 500 views so I figured no one liked these or something 😂

As someone who loves to bake and loves dessert themed items i love these so much. Im a sucker for anything Blueberry and the designs for wave 2(on the website) are just as cute
Maybe the one doesn't smell like peanut butter because of peanut allergies. I don't go anaphylactic but I do have severe asthma attack just from the smell of peanuts and definitely cannot eat them. Don't know if artificial scent would have the same effect but wouldn't want to chance it.
Just commented a similar thing, artificial sents can make people with allergies vomit as their body is telling them to stay away from it
I was thinking the same, I'm anaphalactic to even the scent of artificial nuts, watermelon, and raspberry... I know anaphalactic allergies to even synthetic are more rare but nut allergies are one of the most common allergies out there... and with the link between covid and new or worsening allergies I think it would be smart for a toy company to avoid it all together. If you don't know about the link there's been a huge increase in both ige and non ige allergies and diagnosis of mast cell disorders since late 2020

It’s popped up again in the UK in a few rare instances. One I seen was sharing shop space with a WHSmiths, so they’re kinda back? It’s a little odd.
Its also in the Philippines, probably because SM owns TOYS R US

In the store I use the "squeeze and sniff" method. I got the blueberry waffle bunny on the first try because it smells so strongly of blueberries and blueberries are my favorite berries. Then I got the unicorn pop tart on my second try because it smells like pastry and fruity pebbles.

My husband and I had to smell all of the toasters at Target to try to find the blueberry bunny for my daughter who really wanted it. The blueberry bunny is the strongest scented.

I got three of these for my kids' Easter baskets... and somehow not only got a unicorn one, but put it in my unicorn loving child's basket. I feel bad that Jackie spent so much only to constantly get the same ones!

The crazy part is I picked one up for my son at Aldi and the very first one he got and opened was the unicorn! I was bummed about the peanut butter and jelly cat. Also, to me it smells like that grape medicine. In store I realized after our first that you can sort of smell them in the package, but it was hard to tell which was which, you could just tell if they were different from each other.
I got 2 unicorns and that was the one I wanted the least 😭
I got 3 from Walgreens in United States and one. My very first one was the unicorn, but you're not missing out on sent at all. It was cute, just not very scented. I got the Kitty pancakes. It was ok and I got the choco bread. And I really thought that scent was amazing.
