i might be a bit late but you right click on ur mouse or track pad oh and when it gives you the little pop up, before officially precomposing, click the square next to the sentence "move all attributes in the new composition" and then underneath that click the box next to the other sentence that says "adjust composition duration to the timespan of the selected layers"

I really enjoyed this. Its kinda like two transitions in one. You have a nice smooth rotation one, then you have the other after you pre-comp them.
