i have the same brand of strike anywhere matches but they wont light. on occasion i can get one to light on the striker on the box but other than that nothing. any ideas why?
+Jack Cann one contains sulphur, other one - phosphorous. One has 31, other one 32 electrons. Assume one force acting upon it, for instance pressure. At a close up you wouldn't be able to distinct between the two within probably a few good layers of atoms. Then, once acted upon with the Newton's first law, on that nuclear level a lot of electrons are being torn apart and mixed up in an exchange-like soup. And that soup evaporates itself into air and you call it smoke. Smoke turns out to be less "in weight" than oxygen, so it flies upwards. That molecule you inhale in size is smaller or equal in size with the receptors in your nostrils. By increasing the ratio between (two varieties of Silicon) powdered glass and red Phosphorous, which both have less electrons on the outer shell than phosphorous alone to be stable, they contribute a little to the soup due to similarity in their relative visual configurations. Hence, you have to add more of both by a dip and you'll have two similarly thick layers of same substance acting upon itself under a relatively high pressure creating what we call an effect of friction. This whole "turmoil of red phosphorous in action" is called "the white phosphorous". White phosphorous "weights" more than oxygen (at it's usual). It is "thicker" to solid than oxygen and it's never at an inactive or passive state. Heat radiated from the Sun transfers it's energy both through light and through temperature you feel when you expose your body to it. Our atmosphere warms up and cools down producing ripples in an otherwise docile piece of rock. So I'd say that on a cold distant planet that's floating without it's parent star, due the disintegration of it's parent Red Giant star, you couldn't light up that match. Now to find a planet that has enough gravity to hold all the oxygen on it after the disappearance of the magnetic force of the planet to test it out. Or in a lab probably. They use aspen tree soaked in two liquids, one makes the flame go slower, the other prevents you from dying in large numbers of it's toxic fumes.

All he did was shave off the part of the strike part of the matchbox and made a coating to cover the match head. That way you can strike on any surface by applying a little bit of pressure. If you want to fire proof them then put a little wax over them and let dry.
I find it amusing that people are so angry that he was using strike anywhere matches. Isn't it obvious that you would have to use strike anywhere for any of those to work?
