In my last game of FM2009 Australia won the 2010 World Cup, Lyon were one of the top teams in Europe (won the Champions League and lost in the final back to back) and Liverpool became a yoyo club - getting promoted to or relegated from the Premier League every year.
I think the most interesting part of this was getting a look at how player valuations worked pre-Neymar to PSG and how the game thought it would carry on into the future. I know he's 33 but Messi was only on a £115m or so release clause in this save whereas in real life you'd be looking to double or even triple that for a player of Messi's calibre (I know Messi is priceless to Barca but you get the point). In my opinion the Neymar transfer combined with new TV deals massively inflated player valuations overnight and it's just one of the things FM could never realistically predict. When clubs saw the €200m fee for a star but not best in world player (BIW in this case being a Messi or Ronaldo) it moved player price tags up a notch or two. For example; a player that in FM terms would be a decent EPL player used to go for what a good English Championship player would now and to get a star EPL player (i.e. a player of Neymar's calibre, maybe a tiny bit less) would only cost you about £50m-£80m if that iirc. At the end of the day, FM is just a framework that reflects the general consensus on football at a given point in time since it would require either superhuman coding skills or it would need to run on a super computer to simulate all the variables and their interactions so that FM would match up with real life better. By the way, I know inflation is a factor in the increase of player values but even if we say inflation was 5% every year for the past 10 years (a bit on the high side iirc) that would only suggest a 60% increase in prices from 2009-10 rather than the doubling or tripling we see today. Also, I know I used Ronaldo in this discussion as an example and I am aware he "only" went for £100m or so last season but iirc there was politics involved in that decision, Ronaldo was butting heads with RM's president and he wanted a new challenge too. In addition it was Real Madrid doing the selling, they didn't really need to get value on a 33 year old as they basically have all of Spain outside Catalonia to lean on financially.
@ObviouslyKieran I've read into it a bit and it appears that the newgen faces up to as recently as FM16 were done in 2D, and possibly supplied under license by some external provider. SI seem to have decided that either they didn't want to continue paying this license fee, or the provider couldn't offer 3D faces, so they've been using their own crappy inhouse face generator since. And the 3D faces don't allow mods as the old 2D ones did either, so we've end up with the clay-putty disasters with 7 hair styles and bald porn-stached 16 year olds of recent versions.
Was I the only shouting "Ronaldo hadn't left by this point in time" as he was trying to find him at Madrid 🤣😅
Nope!
Being a Bournemouth fan just proves anything can happen 1 game away from relegation and would of gone bust to 5th year in premier league
Euro Vase was the old Intertoto Cup 😂
Ah OK. I forgot that existed!
@@lollujo I only remember it because I used to do HSV back then and it was pretty much the only European cup I could win 🏆
at 10:33 you can see that Juve actually signed Douglas Costa just like in real life
Love the idea, can't wait for future versions. Hope you're doing well and keep up the superb work :D

Juventus still had Douglas Costa. Incredible :O
Great vid Kev, love these experiments trying to spot some anomalies and interesting tidbit 😂
No, I've never heard of the Euro Vase either! 😂👍👍
Matthew A think it’s the intertoto cup
Vagner love winning world player of the year is incredible
Why's your mouse desynched
League 2 starts the game with 3 teams on minus points (Bournemouth and Rotherham on -15 I think, Luton on -30)
Looks like my team are going up into league 1! ⚪️🔵⚪️🔵
As an Arsenal fan I love this universe!
James Clements Same!!
must distract you from your sad reality eh
M Taylor Spot on.
2:32, u sure about that Kev?
Reading 6th in the premier league!! I will take that!
Love the idea btw Kev!
They got the 2014 World Cup final correct,
As a Pompey fan i like this universe have one of the best players in the world we’re in the prem and Southampton are in league one brilliant
How can we adjust scaling (getting bigger)?
Newcastle winning the prem? I'll take it
Euro vase most likely the former Intertoto cup. Now abolished and the teams enter euro cup qualification
"Will Morgan has lovely hair."
Well Messi's hair is a BLOODY MESS in '09. MY WORD!!! ;)

The story NEVER ends Kev! It NEVER ends!!! ;)
Wasn’t the Euro Vase the intertoto Cup?
As an Arsenal fan I prefer this history. Can we keep it.
They got the 2014 wc final right
A world where Arsenal don’t finish fourth. Seems unrealistic...
Achieving comedey
Cardiff with back-to-back relegations from PL to L2
Yes Kev, Newcastle were in the Premier League in 2014, we (obviously) didn't win it though!
Anyone know where i could get this fm? My steam starts with 2010 I fancy doing a couple of seasons on this one.
Sports interactive website maybe?
You absolute madman.
Did Sir Alex got sacked??
Do you have the Portuguese language file? Can you send it to me? Thanks in advance!
Messi is like Fat Spiderman from the Alternate Reality in this game. ;)
Don’t forget the managers!
How is this finishing the season exactly?
Did you see the bit where the season was finished?
Could have atleast edited it to the points total and date the league stopped
Why?
What a class idea
Here before this goes viral
The newgen faces really have been awful on recent FMs. What the hell happened SI?
