Thanks for the review. I bought the Pica-dry 3030 and love it. Had it a couple of months now, love the ability to sharpen it and the holder works really well. I'm probably going to buy a couple more just to have them around the shop.
That is a lot of good information. I use a Rotring 2mm mechanical. It is very heavy and well made, but $60 I think. (I got it for $20) still expensive! But it has lasted longest of all my pencils
Thank you demonstrating the line marking. I am currently using a wooden carpenter pencil and am venturing to the mechanical pencil realm. Mayne some HB leads on the side as well. Thanks again, sir.
Joey, of the ones tested I only have the Pica pencil. I ordered it with white and red pencil leads but didn’t try either color during the summer due to the excessive heat. Thanks for the info.
Hey Bill thanks for watching, I was quite surprised with this discovery being that Pica is highly recommended amongst the woodworking community. Although it was an abnormal year with the heat I was surprised the off brand colors didn't faulter like the Pica brands. Anyhow it was great hearing from you, again thanks for watching!!
The video was very informative. I usually stay clear of mechanical pencils because I'm to heavy handed but I think I'll have to give one of these a try. 😁🐻👊
Thanks for watching, glad you found the video useful. I have to say I was disappointed with the Pica color lead, however the Pica graphite was the most vibrant of all.
I bought a Pica. I’ll opt for the Other colored leads (should I decide I need colored leads). Don’t weld anymore so that’s what I used Yellow for. Thanks.
Good shoot-out! Which of the pencil bodies do you think is best? If the lead sizes are identical, I'd just spring for the Pica graphite in whatever body feels nicest, and call it squaresies.
Thanks for watching Skitch!!! Hands down the pica graphite is the best. All the pencils except the Dixon had a good feel in the hand. That being said if you didn't want to buy so many different products I would just go with the NicPro set and be done with it.
Notice the melt also on color led, I also notice I have one pencil I use in garage haven’t figured which one yet but one doesn’t erase very well. Can’t say if it a regular pencil or mechanical. I like to erase frankly because I make a lot of mistakes. 😂😂Nice video❤
One big problem you don't address here, is when you make long marks, the thickness of the line differs as the line gets longer. A thin mech pencil with a thin lead will work better than all of those you just showed, as the line will stay contant all the way. The ones you just showed will get thicker as the line goes along. This is very important in precision woodwork.
Well to each their own! This video is intended to portray the vibrancy of the mark on different woods comparing the various brands. This was never intended nor directed to fine woodworking. However for precision cutting I use precise cutting methods not a pencil mark. FYI I use these when rough cutting materials.
I have seen other finish carpenters on the net, all use the Pica. I am uncertain how a el cheapo traditional carpenters pencil at .20 or close to, that a pica can justify its worth. want thin lines use old school mechanical pencil as i see other tradesmen using on the job site.
Well I guess it comes down to personal preference, however using the colored pencil helps me tremendously because of my bad eyesight. Thanks for watching!!

interesting Good information
Thanks for watching Lelia!!!
I find the pica standard lead to soft for my liking but like you said they are interchangeable.
I totally agree! Thanks for sharing your thoughts 💯💯💯
Good demonstration
Thank you Rob I appreciate it!!!
Very Interesting Joey. Even in Michigan, we get a lot of 90+ days, so I wouldn’t trust the soft lead.
Thanks for watching, glad you found the video useful. I have to say I was disappointed with the Pica color lead, however the Pica graphite was the most vibrant of all.
hmmm Interesting
I'm glad you found it Interesting JP!!!
Interesting!! Texas heat makes a big difference!!
Should I go ahead and order your shirt pocket protector for shop pencils??🤣❤️❤️
Please do! LOL thanks, glad you enjoyed it!!!

Thank you Frank!!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you Connie Connie!!
Team Pica pencil here " 💪
Awesome, it’s a great choice. Thanks for watching!!
I think it is just the lead hardness, pica is using 2B , while I think those other areusing HB leads.
💯💯💯💯💯
Pica makes a summer lead for that purpose
Interesting, can you share a part number so we can do some research?
Hey ! The pica pen has heat summer leads… heat resistant up to 70 degree celcius
Awesome!!
