  • From February 2017 to August 2018 I worked for Disney Cruise Line! I met some amazing friends and saw some incredible places and I want to share all that with you! This video is my introduction to working on the ships: the training I went through, experiencing guest deck parties and how the first couple of weeks went.
    When I applied there were only Disney videos that don't go into too much detail other than the job specs itself or a few youtubers who were all in different roles from me and that does make a difference. I worked in the Dining Room as an Assistant Server for 3 contracts.
    I hope you enjoy my adventures with DCL and I can't wait to take you exploring all the wonderful ports I visited! :)
    ** This video is in no way affiliated with the Disney Cruise Line or Disney. I no longer work for DCL but want to share my exciting experiences with people and everything I speak about is my experience alone **
    Hello there, I'm Deb of Deb Explores! Welcome to my channel! Join me weekly as we visit various locations in Florida, Scotland and around the world! Having worked previously on a cruise ship I've been lucky enough to see a lot of amazing places! Unfortunately, it was very difficult to film or edit while working on the ship and so, now I'm back living land life again, I'm excited to be able to take you with me on my adventures!
    So what are you waiting for? Subscribe to my channel for videos mainly around Scotland and Florida and some places in between! Let's go explore!

    Thank you for sharing... I went on the Magic Feb 24-28, 2022 and tried to be a best guest. I brought so many little fairy lights, glow-in-the -dark clothespins (for bunk curtains), thank you cards and crisp, unused $2 Bills. I papered that ship with appreciation my signature Cupcake love! 🙂 Thanks for Making the Magic - ON the Magic! That's the first crew porthole pic I've seen! Wild to think of the waves, and super glad it doesn't open? I've Liked and Subscribed...will check out your other DCL and Disney content! Cheers!

      I’m sure many of the crew appreciated that! I still have a clip magnet a guest gave me with “Magic 2017” on it 💖
      The portholes do not open haha.
      Thanks for subscribing 🥰 i really appreciate it so much!
      I do plan to make more videos in the future but for now I’m back studying a degree and working full time so it’s a little hectic.

    This was so amazing! Firstly can I get a high five for a fellow coffee-holic? ✋😆 Also I’m so glad you thought to film all that footage back then and that you were able to masterfully edit it together and share it with us! And I loved how you hosted/presented it, like the perfect cross between professional and down to earth! Looking forward to the next chapters of your story as you continue sharing them!

      I’ll look into doing one :) it got easier after the first contract. I worked on the magic too which was difficult cause I had 2 contracts where I’d work in the Caribbean but also in the Baltic.

    Being from Florida, I'm fascinated by foreigner's obsession with Blaze.

    • @DebExplores
      @DebExplores  4 года назад

      I think because a lot of pizza places out here are very rich on the cheese and especially the sauce. Europe focuses more on toppings so with blaze you can have that :)

    I really enjoyed watching this!you are such a great story teller and you gave a great description of your experience! It was especially neat to get a good inside scoop of Traditions! Also, that beach is so beautiful! It makes me miss my time living in Hawaii! But can't beat the caribbean! :)

      Thank you so much. Glad to be able to tell my story. Castaway Cay is stunning. I loved working on the island since it was different scenery to look at and we always got good food! We got to eat what the guests ate here so I always tried to get off the ship whether I was working or not :)

    Loved it! I've watched it twice and agree that the edition is really great. The customes look very nice I'm surprised and it gets me more excited since Im embarking on the Fantasy in 2 weeks and there's no information from dinning room department on internet. Hope you keep on making ship life videos and talk about the how schedules are. Thanks for sharing with us!

    I have currently managed to film while on the ship but consistanlty uploading is a nightmare.

    • @DebExplores
      @DebExplores  4 года назад

      I think if I was in any other dept. it would have been easier but my work schedule was mostly 5.30am-12am/4.45pm-11pm or 12pm-4pm/4.45pm-11pm and occasionally later shifts going on past 1am when during pirate night or events. It was emotionally exhausting for me personally and I didn't have much time alone anywhere due to restrictions on where dining could go. We also had to pay for internet during my contracts :(

  • @kumaranurag818
    @kumaranurag818 Год назад

    Is it need to go through the shore side training before joining every time?

    • @DebExplores
      @DebExplores  Год назад

      If you’re going back for another pre arranged contract then you just need to go through shoreside training once. After that training is generally ongoing on the ship.
      If you terminate your contract with Disney and completely reapply and reinterview then you’d have to go through training again just like with any new job.
      Hope that helps :)

    I worked for them in 2012 and just had a quick question because it may have changed, I can’t swim at all would that be a problem as I plan to return in the summer only for a couple of contracts. What scares me is being in the sea would that be a problem for someone that can’t swim?

    • @DebExplores
      @DebExplores  3 года назад +2

      There were people in my arrival who couldn’t swim at all. As long as you can swim about 100m in a life jacket, to a life raft and tip it over you’ll be fine. There was no part of wet drill that didn’t involve some kind of floatation device :) We did ours at Castaway Cay so we were in the sea, literally just at the dock in front of the ship but locations vary depending on where the ships are.

    Are you allowed to interact with guests during your non-working hours?

    • @DebExplores
      @DebExplores  2 года назад +1

      Depends what you mean by interact and what department you are in. In dining you have no guest privileges so generally don’t see anyone but crew during non-working hours. If I. Guest areas for whatever reason, I’d stop and help anyone who asked or briefly talk to my table guests and see how their day was going but other than that you generally don’t just go chat with guests who may not want your company. It’s not worth your job if people take it the wrong way.

    How do I apply?? for youth or what your job was?

    • @DebExplores
      @DebExplores  3 года назад

      I worked in the Dining Room which I applied (from U.K.) through excellent recruitment. If you search online every country has a recruitment team you apply through. Youth activities may be the same but I’m not entirely sure as they’re classed under ‘Entertainment’. Unless you have a strong interest in food and beverage and can work long hours physically I’d definitely look into youth activities as they do have a better life on board. Hope all goes well for you! :)

    Hi do you need to bring any money when embarking 1st day ?

    • @DebExplores
      @DebExplores  5 лет назад +1

      I didn't. We woke up and they provide a small breakfast grab and go type of spread. Then you're instantly bussed to the ship you're embarking. The rest of your day will be on the ship. You can't leave the ship in US states until you have an appointment to get an i95 which you will get on your first US port day after you embark. Until then everything you want to buy is added to your crew card and you can pay it off as you go or choose to have your bank card open on it.
