I heard that Graeme Barber, the author of this adventure, was very unhappy by how WotC cut a bunch of their cultural context out and added in words like “primitively” to describe the Grippli homes. It makes me really want to play the Barber Cut of this adventure (also I just realized the pun in “Barber Cut” writing it out and it was unintended but that’s really fun)
For sure, lots of stuff going on behind the scenes with this adventure. I'd love to see the full product, as 1000 more words could easily flesh this out better, but for the instances of this video, I only talked about the edited product.
@@NoFunAllowed There are a lot of details to go through The personality and rp with the captain The interaction with the villagers Then if we assume one random encounter only in the crab maze and on the shore followed by the temple That is already two sessions worth at least I think Noting the group stealth check is 20 Maybe a skill challenge would've made more sense And introduce the skill challenge concept to 5e at the same time
@@NoFunAllowed true But if u think about it This is the one unique mechanic in this adventure (the crab maze) it should've been better fleshed out because that's the one thing the PC's will remember for a long time to come if done right
I feel like the village being completely empty and the party has to figure out and then find who attacked and where they took the prisoners would have been better.
Great video! You gave me a lot of ideas at the end on how to spice up this adventure, as I also thought this was one of the weaker ones.
thank you and no problem!
all these videos are amazing i love to listen to it while im driving =)
haha thank you!

I think I will try and add in some of what was cut. Hopefully I can bring back a little mystery, nuance and plot.
I was reading over this adventure earlier, I kept thinking this is not a one shot. No way will this end in one setting
it really comes down to how quick combat goes with your group!

The combat encounters and the crab maze needed more fleshing out
Especially combat maps

For sure, that could be a fun mystery to unravel!
How did you handle the scale on the map with the Crab Maze? Each space is supposed to be 100 ft? Any suggestions?
I wouldnt run combat on that map, I would keep it theatre of the mind, or use a map found on the discord or the subreddit!
@@NoFunAllowed awesome, thank you for the quick response.
