@@DavidDunlopSimmonsArt Hi David and Connie, for the last 20 years or so, mostly landscapes of the Midwest. Painting landscapes seemed a logical progression but, after a few years of practice, have discovered I may have started too late in life. Just the same, many lessons in one discipline apply to the other, so all is good. Have online photo galleries viewable by an internet search for "tom robbins pbase photo galleries" when you have a moment to spare.

It took a month, but finally I am watching this. Thanks as always. Did you ever see the 30 minute film about Turner? It is quite old, in black and white, looks like it was done with almost no budget. I suspect it is still available on RUclips.
Hi, Stephen - great to see you again! Thank you so much. Delighted you enjoyed it. We have seen many pieces about Turner, so I am not sure that we have seen that yet. Kind regards, David and Connie

Hi there David. Thank you so much for your videos that I have just discovered. So informative and helpful. I have two boring questions: what is the surface you are painting on and what us the surface it is taped to. Great idea to have the pallet on this surface. Looking forward to watching your other videos.

One of the most wonderful analysis of Turner’s methodology I’ve heard. I did hear or read somewhere that Turner used Alizarin Crimson and that it was fading in color even as he was working on the painting. In the video you mentioned that the color was not invented until later. Can you comment on this apparent contradiction?
Dear Ellen - Thank you so much for your generous comments. Have you had a chance to read any of Dr. Joyce Townsend's books about Turner's painting practices? They are excellent . She is the Senior Conservation Scientist at Tate and has written extensively about his paints and materials. Kind regards, David and Connie

God I love you teaching. Is there any chance you could delve into turners and monets use of colour - pushing colour beyond that which is strictly representational? And maybe turners messy atmospheric brush marks and why they work (such as in the burning of the Houses of Parliament)?
Thank you, Dylan - we loved your comments. In the Landscapes Through Time area on our RUclips channel, we do have a program about Monet's waterlilies and also Turner's watercolor of Santa Maria della salute and an old from a different angle of the Dogana. I hope that you enjoy them. Kind regards, Connie and David

Great stuff! I wonder if Turner et al also made these 'theoretical shape sketches' as you do to analyse Turners painting... ANy idea?
