@Emmanuel Ezenwa research the abandon properties... Ikwerre lost their lands, hinterland Igbos lost properties, the Ijaws and the Ogonis gained in all.
@Emmanuel Ezenwa I understand from ur standpoints the views and expressions you want to pass through my brother but in times of reconciliation. ....Let's do away with the blame narratives that's my own standpoint. Igbo bu ofu and let's get our acts together to be stronger in dealing with our common enemy. Let Ohaneze ndigbo rise to its responsibilities of bringing unity to all igbos at home in Rivers , Delta Edo, Benue and in the diaspora. Enough said.
Emmanuel Ezenwa my it was the ijaw nation and the ogonis confiscate our properties through the help of gowon government immediately after the civil war in 9070
Nwanne, in all honesty, you have nothing to apologize for. The speaker is over here preaching to the choir, when he should direct his efforts to his Ikwerre brethren who for the most part have not only distanced themselves from Igbo, but have also demonstrated significant disdain for Igbo. He's here regurgitating and reminiscing on the involvement of Ikwerre sons in Igbo affairs in times past, which only affirms our stance that Ikwerres were always Igbo until they chose not to be anymore. How did we cast them out? Has any Ikwerre(even with their outright Igbo denial) been denied access or membership to any Igbo organizations? They've even held leadership positions in Ohaneze in recent times. The speaker even laments how they were exempted from the distribution of 'abandoned properties' in PH. So, if someone handed them properties that were forcefully confiscated from their own Igbo brothers, they'll gladly take it and rejoice? So much for brotherhood. Ikwerre need to do some soul searching and stop confusing themselves...today someone like this will tell us they're Igbo, tomorrow they get agitated when called Igbo, and next week they're Bini people that speak Igbo and practice Igbo culture for as long as they can remember.
@@josephjohnoguzie4833 my brother you are right, we need to forgive who ever that have wrong us mostly our own brother and sister,I think we should not blame our brothers, our blame should be to Ohaneze leaders whom have not show consigne about other Igbos in other state, even the out brake of epidemic that broke out of Igbo's in Benue, non of them sends any form of delegation, they are crying about treatment they are getting from the governor, yet Ohaneze keep quiet, tomorrow we blame them.some months back Oba of Benin was in Rivers for people who claimed they are from Benin kingdom, even when they know they are not Benin, yet Oba of Benin visited them that show consigned.now our own Ohaneze is doing nothing expecting them to come to him.it's done on me that Ohaneze don't have plans for Igbo unity.
Wabali, you are being economical with the truth. Ikwerre have always denied being Igbo since after the war that ogbako ikwerre went and registered ikwerre as a separate language. I know that any group that denies their igboness must one day beg for it.Think of the psychological trauma ikwerre have been going denying being Igbo for years in the eyes of Nigerians who had known ikwerre as Igbo. No body will leave the fold and be happy.
They are the ones that deny being igbos at every opportunity and claim to be from benin. They now see themselves as minorities and their igbo dialects seperate languages.
@@oc8452 A bini man can understand most of urohbo and bini likewise but not Ikwerre, but people from the SE zone can understand most of ikwerre. @@kestee3240 you are wrong my dear. I lived in Warri, and I have seen and addressed some anioma brothers and sisters as Igbo people, but the results i got from them were so discouraging. What I heard was we are deltans. Most times I do asked them is delta a tribe? Some will tell you we are kwale, while some delta Igbo. In all these I just wonder who did this to these people. They've been brainwashed to reject their tribe. My argument is that Igbo people cut across Edo, Delta, Benue, Rivers. And the 5 Eastern states in Nigeria. So, bro stop doubting your Igboness if you are from any of these places mentioned above. I encourage you to accept the reality. Leave the fantasy and encourage others to do so. There's nothing like what you're saying that what we have is Igbo people and the others like anioma etc....as you mentioned in your write up. I am from Enugu. So we are Igbo people and I see Igbo people from those areas as Igbo people too. Just that some don't want to accept the facts.
You have spoken well I new that Ohaneze have not done much to integrate other igbo, just look the president of Ohaneze have he visited rivers state since he took over or igbos benue that have been crying on newspapers epidemic broke out in that place no one I see from Ohaneze that visited them, tomorrow if they decided to stay on their own we criticise them, our leader are the problem.
I have met a lot of people from ikwere, kwali, Asaba, Agbo whose names are Chukwuemeka, Chidi, and Ifeoma but will vehemently tell you that they're not Igbo. The truth is that they are not totally guilty of this. We at the other side of the river even shows a lot of discrimination. I'm from Enugu but there are people from other states in Southeast who believe that their own state is more Igbo than others and also that your dialect is useless because it doesn't sound like theirs. I'm happy we are discussing this. Nobody is a greater stakeholder in Igbo than others. That your people is more educated, wealthier or more technocratic does not make you more Igbo than others.
@Emmanuel Ezenwa you're talking rubbish, the citizens of ikwerre is not the problem, the main problem is their leaders that change their names during the war because of their selfish interest from hausa/fulani and again the Ohanaeze ndi Igbo who left them behind. only Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is doing a great job to unit all Igbos because he doesn't care about Nigeria money if so they would have bribe him but he refuse during his time in prison
They are Igbos QED, do you hear of Kwara Yoruba? or Kogi yoruba?. Igbo is Igbo no matter the geographical location. Igbo is a language and not geographical features
Not just a language, but a culture. Language is included in one's culture. Don't feel offended by this. I believe you know what you mean, but just wanted to put it literally
You are correct. They will one day see the folly of denying their language, culture and identity. We are Igbo, we are very proud of our GOD given identity. We have no apologies to make
Amadioha gbagbukwaa Buhari there. The first time an ngwa man is posting online. Nwoke ngwa, is there internet connection in ngwaland? hahaha. I am kiding you know that and I know you will smile over this joke but, if I say this to an Ikwere man, he will get so furiated like a fulani buhari. Ikwere wu Igbo wu Igbo.

Not just on media please you guys need to meet face to face it will go along way and have more time...It have to be done early for our younger generation
My brother God bless you. The Ohaneze have to be strategic to fashion better understanding. My dear Andy also my Ikwerre brother also have some blame too. Some of them will never like to accept their igboness. How I wish majority of my ikwerre Igbo brothers share this view. This is where Zik is exemplary in mobilising all igbos.
Yes. Ooo because of oil and forget IGBO is igbo. They also follows those calling themselves delta Ibo . saying Igbo land is landlocked that southeast don't have access to the sea . But thank God for Aba seaport that's coming 😍💯
Mr Andy Wabali, I thank you very much for bringing up this issue of Igboness in River State. First of all, over 80% of the Ikwerres are born of Igbo parents. Even Dr Obi Wali lived and died as an Igbo man. The Ikwerre people, deep down, know that they are Igbos. After the civil war, Nigeria used the likes of Diette Spiff to disunite and disintegrate the Ikwerres from their Igbo brothers and sisters from the Southeast. I suggest that we, the Igbos, from every nook and corner should come together , because Nigeria wants to disunite us. Please we are one. I am from Imo State, but my Godfather is from Ikwerre.
Nothing like Ikwere Igbo either Igbo or not because i came from Ohaozara area of Ala Igbo then i will begin to say i am Ohaozara Igbo does this make sense? This guys should go read their history well
Easier for you to say as you are not on the downsized side. Do you see Delta Igbo as Igbo before this Biafra movement and secession being talked about?

Did any of the Igbos deny the fact that he was not Igbo and therefore, Igbos had no part in the revolution? We all stood our grounds together!! Remember Gen Achuzie and so many other Delta Igbos who were powerful and Galant commanders and soldiers during the Biafran war? IGBO WU OTU biko nnu!
I have being in port-hacourt before, n from my own experience ikwere people had brain washed by janjawee because of that, they never believed that they are ibo's, believe me ibo's are good n very kind, they love welcoming strangers around but I don't know the reason why other tribe have so much hatred on ibo's but for me, I love ibo's the more.
Very good. I like this type of frank talk. When we were at the University of Portharcourt, we cooperated with our Ikwerre Brothers during Students Union elections to the annoyance of the far flung Ijaw majority.
At the end of the war, Lt. Com. Diete Spiff, an Ijaw, was the Rivers state military governor then. It was the Ijaws that marginalized the Ikweres, not the Igbos. It was the Ijaws that largely benefited from the abandoned property of the Igbos. I'm from Isuochi and many of our female relatives were married to the Ikweres and the Ijaws in those days. That's why it baffles me that the Ijaws hate the Igbos so much.
You can tell your story without telling lies against the Ijaw or king Diete Spiff. Under King Spiff the Ikwerre got more than their fair share. Projects that could have been sighted elsewhere was sighted in Ikwerreland.
Let's see all that happened as the act of 1966-1970. Everyone has waken up now, let's see how to reconnect and come back to round table and continue our Igbo activities, long live Igbo's my own people
My advice to Andy Wabali and the rest of our brothers is to stand their ground to claim their position in Ohaneze as no one is minority in his or her family home. Thanks.
Nothing like larger Igbo group. We only have: ikwere, onisha, Agbor, Igweocha, okpanam, Awka, Anioma, Enugu, Nsukka, Abakaliki, Umuahia, Mbaise, Owere, Effiom, Amuda, Ngbo, Ezza, etc. Stop counting yourselves out, all are Igbos with divers ascents.
How we say that ikwerre is part us, in igbo nation, there is nothing like majority or minority, igbo is igbo, regardless of the location. Ohaneze must do the right thing by bringing and unifying our brothers and sisters wherever they are because, we are one people. This task is very urgent and necessary pls.
Nwanne goodmorning. From my humble experience & interactions, Andy's submission is revisionist history. However the most important thing is to unite all igbo brothers/sisters irrespective of the artificially created boundaries in the country. For me, I have no atom of doubt that ohaneze and wider igbo public already see them as part of the igbo race. I only hope it is a genuine quest to get back to their roots without politics being the main reason.
It doesn't matter where the people may or may not have originated from as long as today we are igbo speaking we are all igbo!! United we stand divided we fall!
No body can deny your nationality. This unions has been compromised and has been terrified. Please uphold your identity. Time is coming when all children of God shall be united.
my dear brother thank you for this eye opener about the ikwerres truth be told that our ikwerre brothers are the ones sidelining themselves, pick up an ikwerre man and tell him you are an igbo man he will tell you GOD forbid he don;t mind take up an arms against you so my brother the ikwerres are the ones to integrate themselves and i like it what is happening now means that we are all realizing ourselves that we are one this housa and fulani people have done us more harm than good thank GOD for mazi NNAMD I KANU the GOD sent all hail BIAFRA ,all hail Mazi Nnamdi Kanu
It is really sad to hear that the Ikweres feel neglected by their Igbo brothers. I would like to add that the political dispensation in Nigeria has created a very unfriendly ground for harnessing brotherly relationship in the eastern Nigeria. It is true that anybody that was Igbo or related to Igbo was severely persecuted during and after the Biafra/Nigeria war. In addition to the persecution of the igbos properties were confiscated in Port-Harcourt. Many tribes that were seen as Igbos by the aggressors were all persecuted. The point is that Igbos themselves were persecuted, so everyone has to run for safety. The situation then becomes the survival of the fittest. Those that seized Igbo properties, are their lives better-off than that of the Igbos today? It is a history that will never be forgotten. However, it is time to forge ahead and to build up relationships among the Igbo nation.
I'm deeply touched on this issue and I'm so sorry wholeheartedly for this brothers and sisters from Ikwere at large! 👏 Please my people, let's put aside whatever that has happened in the PAST and MOVE forward to achieve our common goals together.... In #ONENESS ☝we stand and DIVIDED we FALL!!! Peace ✌ Love❤ Strength 💪
I salute Njenje TV for the expository programmes you usually anchor for the benefit of Ndigbo. I greet my brother Andy Wabali too for taking his time to speak exhaustively on this touchy issue. Before I write further, let me make my stance clear on this. My stance is that all Igbo clans both in the South South, South East and Middlebelt should be united into One Igbo nation for our own good. I agree with some point made by Andy but will respond in the areas where I disagree. Saying the truth makes reconciliation easier. I disagree that it was only the larger Igbo group of the SE that contributed to the present logjam in our wheel as a nation. The Ikwerres equally played their own bad role too. Our people need some education on this issue so that our transformation can be quicker. Most Ikwerres don't know much about the larger Igbo nation which they're suppose to know. Ndigbo are made up of plenty clans. All these clans sacrificed to become the large Igbo group you know today. I'm from Anambra and my clan say 'Ohor' instead of 'ofor'. The Ikwerre clan say 'owhor'. Today, we all bear names with 'ofor' just so we can be monolithic. What we should demand from one another in the Igbo nation is respect. The Ikwerre clan has failed in this regard. The denial, distortion of historical facts and even abuse of their fellow brothers just so they can appear different has done a lot of damage. This has made the younger Igbo generation from the SE be suspicious of them. I'm part of those who have always advocated for the union of our people. I've even visited both Ikwerre and Etche lands to see things first hand for myself before coming into conclusion. I believe that the essence of this union should not be just for an individual's political career but for the good of all Igbo clans and the glory of Igbo nation. We are a very blessed people. It's good how you called on Ohanaeze to lead the way in this union. I also agree with the idea of all the other apex groups of the various Igbo clans of Rivers to liaise with Ohanaeze in this regard. I'll want to also suggest that Ogbakor Ikwerre to organise a media conference after that meeting and declare publicly that Ikwerres are Igbos to put a stop to these back and forth. All Igbo clans should be respected. May Chukwu Okike bless Ndigbo nile. Iseee!
Very sensitive discussion. My brother it is very simple to say but difficult to implement if Ndi-Igbo does not have the courage to do the right thing. Ndi Ikwerre, Ndi Anioma and Ndi Igbo Benue, as well as Ndi Igbo Igbanke and other Igbos geographically located in Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Cross Rivers states are no less Igbos than their brothers in present S.E. To start with, Ogbako Ikwerre, Ogbako Etche, Ekpeye and Ogba should collapse into one big Igbo socio-cultural family group known as Ohaneze Ndi Igbo. We are all Igbos (anyi bu ofu) irrespective of our geographical locations and different dialects. Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo and the leadership of those associations have a lot of work to do in this regard. Secondly, some of the communities in Anioma, Ali Ikwerre and even Etche and Ekpeye that deliberately distort their history to reflect Benin ancestry should revise their history and henceforth desist from this obnoxious behaviour. This is called self inflicted identity crisis. Finally if Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is contemplating running for presidency anytime in the future, What impact has he made in Igboland as a Minister? It is funny that tomorrow some people will accuse Ndi Igbo in S.E. for not voting for him when he has done virtually nothing in S.E as the current Minister for Transport. Andy Wabali please tell Amaechi that presidency is by merit. Now is the time for him to make his mark in Igboland.
Rotimi amaechi takes orders from the fulani and can only do less with his political position. Dont expect him to do anything for the igbos if Buhari didn't permit him
No my brother, its the other way round, your the one that denied being an igbo, but now that you have recognised where your from, we open our arms to welcome you in. all hail Biafra.
He has a point..politics has even made us see each other as different people because of geographical zone.south east see south south people as not real igbo even south south igbo see us as the same
Andy, I do not doubt for a second that Ikwerres are Igbos. But, they should also own up to their own evil deeds against their Igbo brothers so that we can all forgive and move forward. Ikwerres were a big Igbo clan like Ngwas. If Ngwa people decided that they were no longer Igbos because they felt that would give them more opportunities with Fulanis, and call themselves a new tribe called "Ngwa". Then changed Aba to "Raba" change Ariaria market to "Rariaria" market, everyone would think they are crazy as their new stunt would NEVER convince a Fulani that they are not a clan of Igbo tribe, but a different tribe called "Ngwa". That is the ridiculousness of what Ikwerre did for 50 years and have realized that they fooled nobody but themselves. When Cross River and Rivers state were carved out of the Eastern region in 1966 to drive a wedge between Igbos and the minorities of the Eastern region, Ikwerres immediately asserted that they were no longer Igbos but a new tribe called Ikwerre. In that period it was so sweet to deny being Igbo and simply "enjoy" war booty with Fulanis. Truth is that Fulanis are no fools. Alas! Even the Ikwerres became victims of Nigeria and they suddenly remembered they were indeed Igbos. Perhaps, this is all part of Rotimi Amechi's strategy to use Igbos for his presidential ambition. All I can say is that Igbo want their Ikwerre brothers back into the fold. But for Andy to come here a feign ignorance of what happened and feign "surprise" that most Ikwerres don't believe they are Igbo and Ndigbo doesn't see Ikwerre and true Igbos is totally comical. Let's be real people. We need to address this issue and bring Ikwerres back into the family. Let us discuss what happened, cry as brothers and forgive. The strategy of Andy to feign ignorance of history is totally hilarious.
Point of correction Ikwerre never change their villages from Umu to Rumu that is a big fallacy, my mum is an ikwerre married to an Mbano man, I'm full blooded Igbo and I'm very conversant with this area, in some parts of ikwerre area the word children is Rumu has always been, just like every other Igbo town and villages are named after the first descendant or progenitor, I personally believe that ikwerre is a migrant tribe from all parts of Igboland and today if you go to Emohua LGA and parts of port Harcourt and Obio Okpor every village bears Rumu and you move to Apara Kingdom in Obio Akpor they bear Umu like any other places in Igboland and you go to Aluu the villages there bears Omu, all meaning children or descendant in their respective dialects so if they refused to centralise it, then so be it, secondly it was the government of the former Eastern region that started the changes from Rumu to Umu before the ikwerres change it back to its original names after the end of the civil war and creation of Rivers state, if you go to ikwerreland today, they call children rumuntakiri or rumuaka and in Mbano its umuntakiri or umuaka, my mother's surname is Iwuala but ikwerre don't use Ala in their dialect rather they use Ali or Eli for land depending on the area,
@@kennethdavid1107 I am totally for the unification of Ndigbo. All clans of Igboland including Ikwerre should be welcome in the Igbo family with full rights available to any Igbo. Again, my point was that we should not act like there were no historical mistakes made. We can acknowledge that our grand fathers made mistakes which we the children of Ndigbo have collectively suffered the folly of their mistakes. Thus, we have decided to correct the mistakes of the past. Whether this is part of a ploy to get Rotimi Amaechi to take the igbo presidency 2023 slot or not, we as a people need to reconcile and move forward together. There is an underling factor when you deny who you are. You fool ONLY YOURSELF and nobody else! Today i see many Black Americans vehemently professing that they are indeed "African" because of the racial issues that has triggered the black lives matter movement. While just a few years ago, so many notable African Americans vehemently denied being more "African" than other races by tracing all sorts of genetic lineage to substantiate claims of being more "native American Indians" than Africans! Some even seriously campaigned to be referred to as "Black American" and totally rejected the notion of being "African American" because they wanted that tag "African" reserved only for African immigrants to the US. Some of those debates are still here on youtube if you doubt me. Thus, Ikwerre is Igbo just like other large Igbo clans of Ngwa, Etche, Ndokwa, Ukwuani, Igbanke etc. Even the clans within the southeast don't have the same Igbo accents. Therefore Ikwerre having a different Igbo accent of using Rumu for Umu is not something one should use to deny Ikwerre as being Igbo like other clans. As a matter of fact, i understand Ikwerre igbo accent more clearly than i under Izzi clan Igbo accents! Thus, Amaechi himself should know that when the chips are down, the people he thinks he is serving will still remember that he is indeed ~ IGBO! The is the funniest part of denying your identity.
@@zweeterion Nwanne we are all saying the same thing, I'm half ikwerre myself and Mbano is my father's home but I just wanted to put the record straight here, in a different fora I heard Ohanaeze PG Mr Nwodo making similar mistake by saying ikwerre change from Umu to Rumu which is a lie, Rumu has been a ikwerre word for children for centuries but not all ikwerre Kingdoms use it, for example they say rumuntakiri instead of umuntakiri and in Apara kingdom they use Umu till date and Aluu uses Omu for their villages meaning the same children or descendants, so acknowledging the truth will go a long way, today we have egbema in Imo state and another half in rivers state, some parts of Njaba lga and Ngor Okpala are etche land and etche people in Rivers state are considered as Niger Deltans and the ones in IMO state are Igbos same goes to Ndoki in Abia state and their brothers in Rivers state many cases like this even in igbanke half of their brothers are in Delta state the Ika people were divided into Edo and delta but believe me igbanke are still more Igbos in character and culture than even their cousins in Delta, what about the Umuezekoha in Benue, Itu people in Akwa Ibom state and people of Abi LGA in Cross River state, this are our blood nobody is more Igbo than the other, we have to move forward and move quickly, even if Amaechis agenda will be the reason to unit Ndigbo so be it,

A very passionate and moving speech, you have made, Mr. Andy Nwabali. If all Ikwere people would think like that, Igbo land would be better and jointly do even better. My Whole experience has been that it is Ikwere’s that are the ones denying and pushing us away. Some of the Ikweres, constantly say that they are from Benin. People like that Dibia of a man, is who you should go after and speak sense and great wisdom, into his brainwashed head. He claims to be an intellectual and a master historian, claiming that his progenitors - three brothers - migrated from Benin, but when enumerating their names, he would mention “Akalaka, among others and, I wonder why he did not Bini names. He claims the learned, but cut history in two halved, cutting of the legend of Eze Chime, who migrated to Bini land, dwelling among the Oba fanili, whose three sons, later left the Edo land, due to a quarrel with the Oba family and, formed their individual clans, among the Ikwere land was one. You, also, need to straighten up messed up people, like the wicked Nwike, who has not been challenged, in spite of all his excesses. You need to assemble conscious individuals of your sort, to come out and challenge him, publicly. Their frivolities confuse the younger ones, who get carried away by the rejections that ate being meted against the wider Ndigbo, especially, since after the war. Talking about the Abandoned Property issue, Chibuike Amaechi said on TV that Wicked Nwike’s father is occupying an Igbo man’s house, in Port Harcourt. We know that the younger ones were lied to, by their cowardly fathers, after the war, but some Ikwere elites, like Elechi Amadi, who wrote one of the best books on Igbo culture, turned out to deny being Igbo. In my own experience, the blame is contrariwise, but your embrace of your Igboness, is without blight. You cannot be a lone ranger, in this pursuit and, need a crowd of people around, in order to avert this plague of Divide And Conquer, that has been planted among us, by those, who seek to subjugate us. Reach out to this trending Igbo Unity groups and give an interview to Mazi Chukwuemeka of Nnaa Mehn TV. That will go along way to making their job easier, while letting Nigeria know that there are more people, in Ikwere land than just Mazi Barrister Uche Okwukwu who, uncompromisingly, declare their Igboness. Ndewo nwanne m nwoke.
My dear brother Mr. Wabali, I watched your video with tears rolling uncontrollably from my eyes, Plz kindly forgive any wrongdoing from our brothers knowing very well we’re one big ibo family. No ibo man is a minority and my ikwerre brethren can never be minority. No ibo man is greater than the other. What makes us great is unity not disunity. The point you’ve raised will get to the appropriate authority and reconciliation shall take place. It will be a thing of joy if this matter is addressed asap. May the good Lord destroy every shackles the devil may have used to divide the ibo family, bless our ikwerre brethren and unite us in Jesus Mighty Name Amen!
ANDY NWABALI Congrats to your presentation about the need for IGBOS INTEGRATION. As an IGBO with outreach relationships across CENTRAL / HINTERLAND IGBOS, EKA IGBOS, MINORITY and RIVER RHINE IGBOS I welcome your viewpoints and have a broader knowledge about these issues of contention raised by YOU. I welcome your leadership quality and knowledge of vital issues to be addressed beneficial to all IGBOS and IGBOLAND. Action these challenging issues mentioned atleast through OHANEZE NDIGBO.
You are correct. But, the so called larger Ibo did not take a thing from Rivers people. It's the Nigerian government denied Ibo's everything till date.
Andy Wabali made it clear with reference that those who took non River Igbo property were not ikwerre, ogba, etche, etc Igbos and the fact the even River Igbos such as Ikwerre, etche, ogba, etc were marginalised after the war in Rivers and had no power and even denied plots in the GRA. So this is why Igbos from the SE should not hold anything against Rivers from rivers state because Nigeria marginalised all igbos from Anioma, Rivers, SE, etc. after the war.
Ikwerre people pls forgive us, we are very sorry, praise be to the power that kept our Ikwerre people safe after the war, I'm from Ngwo. But I'm Igbo too
Forgive who? What did Igbos do to them. People that will deny being Igbo when you hear them speak the language. They will quickly tell you they are not Igbos. The man is lieing. I have never seen an Ikwerre calling themselves Igbo.
What nonsense apology is this one spewing? Are you begging people who deny their heritage because they lost a war to forgive you for what offence? Did the igbos in the mainstream States not suffer more deprivation as a result of the war? Plus further deprivation and abandonment by their fair weather brothers closer to the river banks?
Ohaneze should organize a "Truth and Reconciliation" commission similar to South Africa's or Oputa Panel with the Igbos in Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Benue, Edo and Kogi States to dig up all hurts and misunderstandings and deep reconciliation done.
The last name "Wabali" in Anambra will be said as Nwabani. This is unbelievable stupidity. How can you depend on a constantly changing dynamism of State Creation as the basis of your identity? Your identity should remain the same no matter the manner of state or local government creation. All Igbos are not the same. There are unique identities among Igbos; Igbos from Kogi state have a unique identity from Igbos in Benue State, from Nsukka in Enugu State, from Izzi in Ebonyi State. We should all recognize our unique identities. In Nsukka; eggs in pronounced as ekwa, in Onitsha it is pronounced as akwa. These should not be a point of contention.
"Wabali" and "Nwabali" who say Ikweres are not Igbo? I am Yoruba and a student of history also. Igbo and Ikweres are one. The amalgamation and the consequent civil war caused all the confusion in the land. Some years ago the Neo- colonialists removed history from the school corriculum.
My brother, My God Almighty continue to bless you and every Ikwere and Igbo origin in River State and every other state in Nigeria. Brother you ve spoken very well. Pls continue to defend who you are. Like you have rightly said, you are a true igboman in blood. I'm from imo state but listening to you makes me carry. We are brothers and it's time to change any wrong perceptions. Pls forgive us.
My People, Blood is thicker than Water. Hon. Mr. Andy Wali may God bless you for bringing this issue to the open. Please this reintegration of Ikwerre and Anioma Igbo issue should be gazetted and communicated to all State Igbo Governors, Ohaneze Ndi Igbo and to IPOB leadership. But first to Governor Nyesom Nwike who stood tall as a proud Igboman. As this is mind burgling, let us forget the past. We should not continue to live in the past. The reconciliation should start now and from everybody both home and in the diaspora. (ONYE AGHALA NWA NNE YA) We are all Igbos. No minority, no majority's and no division.
Our brother Andy Wabali we really appreciate your efforts and bringing this issue to the point of discussion 👏 But I have been a witness of this igboness among ikwere people that I have worked with as colleagues in fact they denied their igboness even without asking them. I have listened to someone like julius agwu denied igbos. It is not only a task for Ohaneze Ndigbo alone but people like you who identify with igbo should be at front of campaign because a lot needs to be done.
Please first change ur name to Nwabali( Child born at Night) because Wabali has no meaning in Igbo language, then go ahead and change the Rumu you people added to all the Igbo names in River State to change ur origin's, what is the meaning of Rumuokoro, Rumuomasi, Rumuola, Rumuigbo and so fort, Oyibo is Obigbo, Wabara is Nwagbara just to mention but few, Ikwere people are brothers to Nkwere, we really love you our brothers but you guy's Abandoned us when the going was tough to worship ur Hausa Fulani slave Masters who came with divide and rule propaganda and you also seized our property's which we build to help develop River State as our Business Capital. Like the going says, be your Brothers keeper, if you turn from your evil ways, we will come together as Brothers and fight our common Enemy's and be free from Divideand and Rule mentality.
You are one of the most reasonable pple here. When there is a problem amongst brothers; the best thing to do is to settle down & look into it not dismiss or sweep it under the carpet like most of the pple commenting here are doing.
Good point here, ohaneze please do the needful and do it fast, there's no doubt river's are Igbo,s king jaja of opobo was from amaigbo in imo state. My brother your presentation is pure kudos.
We are not Igbo. Ikwerre may be Igbo but Opobo is not! Count Opobo out of your pipe dream Igboland. Opobo is Ijawland. It belongs to the Ibani clan of the Ijaw nation.
Do u know how many times ikwere people chided me and called me local for being Igbotic and told me to my face that they are not igbos and never will be. I grew up in portharcourt.
May the ALMIGHTY God bless you and your family for your education. Please keep up it up loud and continually so as for us and new generations then we will get there and really no our untold history and correct them now. We are one and brothers. Unity is power
My big brother, you have say it all maybe this new world bring us together as one blood and family... Please don't be angry with us cause the old full we send to represent us went and play fowl play, you are my father and my brother and uncle you are everything to me tank you for making this break before us
A lot of things went wrong from FGN. Division of IGBOS into fragmentation, deny being an igbo you will get appointment. I wish i can reach out to these man. I could have told him something. You are not rejected but ohaneze presently is political affiliates of northern caliphate. That's why you should tell your youths to join the restoration of sovereign state of Biafra to bring sanity back. I understand your feelings.
There is nothing like minority igbo The problem of all this denial is the civil war. The Ikwerre's were the ones who denied the easterners because of the maltreatment of igbos after the civil war by the Nigerian Government. My brother leave that talk. You just said it right u were dealt with after the war. U said the ijaws said it that igbos are coming back. U imagine what u said justified that the ijaw were against ikwerre's after the war. Opobo is an igboland. We all need to come together and love ourselves Nothing like larger igbo group my brother.
Thank you brother for speaking up. We have started the journey back to who we"re. God bless you brother. The FULANIS systematically, divided IGBO LAND - in the name of State creation!
Good to hear Ikwere are finally accepting they are Igbo, there is nothing wrong with Igbo, it is one the biggest tribes in Africa , high achievers, many Ikwere that I know deny they are Igbo, they speak Igbo with a different dialect, just like you have Igbos in the east with different dialects and Igbos in Delta and even Benue ,all with different dialects ,,still all Igbos , they have Igbo names , yet some say they are not Igbo, good to hear him finally claim his identity,Igbos everywhere must unite and accept being Igbo , a genuinely great tribe, this man speaks well, but he must educate his Ikwere Igbos about being Igbo
My brother ikwere sir ,am happy to hear this from you but sir I have lkwere lady l saw her as my lgbo sis with all my heart but for the first time she denised be an lgbo lady that moment it hurts me so much so I think that will be some reason why some majority of lgbo will avoid not be there to support just like what u are cry and saying now but 2 those not make right l so much thanks y sir for coming out to address this issues
God bless you my brother you have spoken well, I know that River state is indeed Igbo land because after studying the history what you are saying is the truth, I think something will being done to address what has gone wrong in the past it's well there's hope for everyone in Igbo land by God's grace amen🙏shalom.
Sir you are absolutely correct and it's not to the Ikwerre,s alone, but other federating Igbo units. All should be in the past. We're all Igbo. Am from Asaba and Igbo person..
Doctor Onwu is from Afa town present day Udi L.G.A Enugu State u spoke well my brother I want to cheap something there's no minnority in Igbo speaking tribe we're one big family nothing.
Please let us come together and forget the past and move forward let us look into it and know what to do to stop those people that are out to intimidate us, Please we need to do something to be together peace peace peace is all we need.
All Igbos are one family. Let's leave the dialects apart. Whether Ikwere, Ibibio, etc. Time for us to start dialogue to unite all Igbos. Any doubt of our relationship can be verified by DNA test. For blood is thicker than water.
What does this man means by the larger Igbo group I believe that Is Igbo we are one but when you changed your villages and towns names umuokoro to umuokoro what does that mean brother we are one come to Abakeleke Nsukka you will find it difficulty to understand it nwanne Igbo is Igbo we don't know what you called Ikwere Igbo and we don't know what they called Ika Igbo what we know is that wherever you are you are Igbo stop putting another thing in it what we know is that we are all Igbos in culture attire foods language and so many other things thank you
Please , my brothers and sisters , were all. One family . There's no need for. all. these fighting , quarreling , rebelliousness behavior patterns . Don't you see how intelligent you are because your Igbos heritage . All these confusions , problems really have to stops with immediate effects. . Everyone should united amongst ourselves and forgives one another . Peace .
I love this head line statement .that you are ikwere Igbo. Just like others .izii Igbo. Mbaise Igbo. Ndoni Igbo. And so many others in igbo land. But for ikwere people to say that they are not Igbos .to me it's very shameful and disgraceful to them. The BIAFRAN war is over .let Igbos come back home and work with one voice. God bless all Igbo land
You have spoken very well, We know how we are in Igboland, From Anioma to Ikwere are Igbos, we know the divide and rule by Nigerian government, we are coming together. It's part of the political division of Nigerian state, just make una chill we are in this together,we will get united for real in time soon.
This is welcome conversation. I think the Ikwerres are free to identify as Ikwerre-Igbo if that will bring peace drive away the mutual suspicion that currently exists.
..just seeing this. I hope our Ohaneze has moved this discussions up. I hope they have come up with a robust, cohesive and progress working document to nurture and sustain the project. Igbos must stand together as one...
This is enlightening. Strangely, when interacting with the Ikwerre people, you will hear them insist they are not Igbos. At 16:34 something was muted which one wonders if it prompted this revelation
Some Ikwere people may be from Benin, but some also admit that they are Igbos. It is possible for people from different ancestors to get on peacefully. I do not think that Benin Kingdom would like to fight a war in order to decide where Ikweres belong
@@youngj1202 mind you ikwere and ahoda are different people with different language. Ahoda is from Benin but ikwere is from Igbo. Compare ikwere language to that of Benin then you will see that there are no similarities at all
I am an igbo man but the ikweres has done some dirty jobs,,You might be making a point but the ikweres changed Umuokoro to Rumokoro this hurts the Igbos in hinterland terribly,,but, it never too late,,You grand mother is from Isuochi,,I am also from Isuochi, The ikweres are undoubtedly Igbos,,the earlier the better,, I see the ikweres as Igbos..
This man is saying a bitter truth.our forefathers did not play politics well, they did not coordinate our brothers well, this created room for divide and rule.we are brothers.
I am from Ikwo but we understand ikwerre language clearly. The first time I traveled to ikwerre I was even asking some of the boys I met , which part of Ikwo they come from only to discover that they were not from Ikwo but ikwerre.
I think it is the abandoned property saga that fueled the divide, which was created by the Fulani in the first place. Andy Nwabali has been consistent in this issue of denying them their Igboness. It has to be corrected and let the Ikwere people take their place in the larger Igbo group. Onye aghala nwanne yaa.
I sincerely apologise to our brothers and sisters about the mistakes of the past....Let's fashion the way forward. Igbo bu ofu.
Every Igbo town has their dialect, same in Yoruba,Hausa etc Having a different dialect doesn't make you less of Igbo.
Exactly
Wabali, you are being economical with the truth. Ikwerre have always denied being Igbo since after the war that ogbako ikwerre went and registered ikwerre as a separate language. I know that any group that denies their igboness must one day beg for it.Think of the psychological trauma ikwerre have been going denying being Igbo for years in the eyes of Nigerians who had known ikwerre as Igbo. No body will leave the fold and be happy.
They are the ones that deny being igbos at every opportunity and claim to be from benin. They now see themselves as minorities and their igbo dialects seperate languages.

To me you are all ibos with differents dialects. All are ifeoma ngozi chukuma

The Ikwerres deny Igbo. I have an Ikeere friend that will tell me he is not Igbo even though he has an Igbo name

My brothers you are 100 percent right.
Some of them are still thinking igbo nation is still at war..
He has a point..politics has even made us see each other as different people because of geographical zone.south east see south south people as not real igbo even south south igbo see us as the same
Ohaneze have to form high power igbo integration group that will integrate every igbo were ever they reside.
Brother may God bless you sir for the courage to speak the truth, your throne is sure
There is no point to recounting this, let’s just make up and move on.

OUR BROTHERS FROM IKWERE WE ARE VERY SORRY IF SOME OF THE IGBO LARGER GROUPS TREAT YOU BAD. IGBO IS ONE, THERE IS NO IGBO THAT IS SUPERIOR THAN THE OTHER . I WILL ADVISE YOU TO REGISTER WITH THE CURRENT OHANEZE NDI IGBO . IGBOS ARE COMING BACK FROM DIFFERENT PLACES TO BECOME ONE. BEFORE 4 YEARS FROM NOW IGBOS FROM S.S AND S.E WILL BECOME ONE. BUT ROTIMI AMECHI SAID BEFORE THAT HE IS NOT IGBO .

Congrats to your presentation about the need for IGBOS INTEGRATION.
U hv spoken well Ohaneze Ndi Igbo take note on this our brothers need our closeness
Let's forge a way forward.we love u my ikwerre brothers.

The problem of all this denial is the civil war.
The Ikwerre's were the ones who denied the easterners because of the maltreatment of igbos after the civil war by the Nigerian Government.
