Reidel is a jerk. Accusing these critics of praising Hamilton only so that people will think they are "hip"? And going with the crowd. I saw Hamilton the week it opened in August and loved it. And back then there was no "crowd".
+liduck52 As one of the other critics said, he's just jealous. Plus, Lin-Manuel Miranda seems to not even give him the time of day, which goes back to before In The Heights moved to Broadway. (Lin's dissed him twice in parody raps before IIRC. The raps weren't about him or anything, they were about other things, but Lin's named-dropped him in them in not-so-positive terms). Also, hearing Riedel trying to critique hip-hop (which he did in another one of these discussion back in October) when he clearly knows ZERO about the genre is really the height of hubris, which is another reason why IMO he tries to dismiss Hamilton. It's not his type of music and he clearly doesn't get it, so he just dismisses it.
