I watch first take every day and I watch every Celtics game. What frustrates me is…I believe shows like first take are the reason the Celtics are not appreciated for the dominant and historically great season they’ve had, and it shows up in the end of season awards. Why is every discussion first take has about the Celtics saying that nothing they do in the regular season matters, and then when they get to the playoffs and still dominate…they’ve had an easy path, and who’s better between JT and JB, should the Celtics break up the duo, JB’s contract, and what if the Celtics still had Ime coaching, etc? When the Celtics win by a lot, Joe Mazzulla gets 0 credit and they’re not being tested or they have a super team, and when they win a close game they didn’t win by enough, and when they lose it’s “is this season a failure if they don’t win a championship”? They don’t speak about any other team this way. It’s no surprise that when we get to the end of the season, Joe Mazzulla doesn’t win coach of the year, Jaylen Brown doesn’t make All NBA or All Defense, and Al Horford doesn’t win teammate of the year or get credit for how effective he still is at his age. Then when the Celtics are on track to sweep the Pacers in the conference finals, after Jaylen Brown puts up 40 points, instead of talking about how dominant the Celtics have been, the conversation is pitting JB and JT against each other and talking about how JB isn’t liked…by who? Fans love JB. And if you really appreciate JB then you should say that all season long before quoting some anonymous source because they sent you a text. Double down all you want but THESE are FACTS. God forbid the Celtics win the title and JB or someone else besides JT is the Finals MVP, I already know they’ll try to make controversy out of that like they did with Steph Curry instead of celebrating the incredible careers of JT, JB, Al Horford, Joe Mazzulla, Jrue Holiday, and the rest of the team.
Facts. Boston will win the chip and all these clowns will talk about is how next season Denver will come back to win it all, just like how they talked at the start of the season 😌

People are afraid of a black man like this. He is an all star NBA player with Einstein level IQ, plays instruments , multiple languages. He is basically someone who has it all. All rounded. Rare to find someone like this. They’re afraid to market someone who is this brilliant that they can’t take advantage of or pull the wool over his eyes. A talented and brilliant black man who cares about his community is terrifying for companies
The greatest take away from what SAS says in this video about Jalen Brown is this: "When people say you're not liked they're not talking about you being disliked; they're talking about you not being someone that others want to market." In all likelihood, Jalen Brown is not a person who is highly disliked. As a matter of fact, he may be very likeable as an individual and as a teammate. However, this is not about Jalen Brown being liked or disliked. The NBA is a business and this is about Jalen Brown not being "someone that others want to market." Why? Because his resume proves that he doesn't fit the typical "shut-up and dribble" mold and "cultural stereotypical" image of what the NBA markets when it comes to African-American athletes. Far too often we see African-American athletes get paid huge salaries for their ability to entertain the audience rather than for their ability to entertaining the audience as well as educating and empowering their communities. After all, we're talking about a player (in Jalen Brown) whose resume includes having the intellect and genius to attend UC Berkley, wanting to use his $300 million to launch a project that brings "Black Wall Street" to Boston, is bi-lingual, plays chess, piano, the acoustic guitar, is the youngest lecturer at Harvard, received a NASA internship, studied robotics and systematic mathematics, understands systemic injustice, is intellectually articulate in speaking about social justice issues, and at 22, became the youngest VP ever for the NBA Player's Union. For all intents and purposes, Jalen Brown's resume makes him the ideal athlete (regardless of race or ethnic background) you'd want to market in the NBA (or any other sport) for what he does on and off the basketball court. Unlike Jalen Brown, NBA athletes of other communities are never accused of being "too smart" or "asking to many questions" when it comes to negotiating their contracts, bonuses, or as a means of questioning their love for the game. On the contrary, they are often commended, celebrated, and applauded for their "business savviness." Historically, African-Americans in the "entertainment business" have been asked to focus on the "entertainment" and leave the "business" to others. Jalen Brown is redefining this practice by building his own brand and creating a new way for African-American athletes to be smart, savvy, and successful moving forward. I think the greater discussion is that Jalen Brown is smart enough to think, brilliant enough to know his worth (he negotiated his $300 million contract), wise enough to value his brand, and savvy enough to strategically use his NIL (name, image, and likeness). Don't get me wrong - it's good and right to get paid for what you do and we should know our worth and value it. However, all money is not good money and there is a danger in becoming so focused on making money and "gaining the world" that you ultimately "lose your soul." I believe Jalen Brown refuses to lose his soul to the NBA or any other entity. Unlike so many African-American athletes, analysts, commentators, and platform hosts, Jalen Brown has proven to be "smart enough" to ask the "questions" that prevents him from selling himself short and selling his people out just so he can "get paid" while being used and marketed for purposes that benefit the league.
celtics fan here. so one of the reason why people always pit tatum against brown is because how brown is being treated in boston. at one point both their career. tatum average 4/17 fgs for 3-4 games. follow by season/career high. make the head news, and people start calling tatum the future. repeat for past 5 years brown doesn't have alot of career/season high compared to other star, so brown hidden facts it's his consistency. brown average 8-15fg for 3-4 games, follow by 1 bad game. casual celtics fan: "brown is so inconsistent, trade brown while he still have value, brown is at best the 4th option, why is he on the court" brown gets no credit at all, not even highlights from most channels especially nba. again repeat for past 5 years. even in the months when tatum is slumping and brown is as consistent as usual(not alot career/season high), celtics always put brown on trade rumours for like almost 4 years and the fans continue to bash him and say break tatum and brown up, trade brown. and the fans doesn't appreciate brown consistency. which infuriates true celtics fan that truly watch the game and not just highlights. so now it's a war between true celtics fan(that doesn't forgive the treatment of brown) vs casual celtics/tatum fanboys constant war especially brown consistency is in the spotlight now and more people take notice of tatum inconsistency. more people starts to bash tatum now. at one point i think tatum fanboys deserved it but i think it's time to stop.
In the first place, why SAS brought up the issue of not well liked & non marketability of JB7 whilst not wanted to reveal his sources when he claimed he liked JB7 and nothing against him?
He making enough money and maybe he is content. $300 Million Dollars, maybe he only want to make his money. Stop worrying about him. Rich Paul is not to enthusiastic about players getting sneaker deals. Jalen Brown can invest with Jeff Bezo, in technology. Maybe, he does not want a sneaker deal right now.
1. He didn’t put up all nba numbers this year……19th in scoring not in top 40 in any major advanced stats. 2. He hasn’t done anything significant to get major deal and he’s been focusing his energy on bigger things than sneakers like becoming an mit fellow. 3. After his performance in these playoffs I’m sure he’ll get tons of traditional endorsements
I was critical of SAS after the ESPN segment, and I still think he shall have left that question mark about JB’s marketability unanswered or with several potential answers instead of answering it with that one quote which made it seem like that was indeed the reason. But one shall admit that JB’s situation is bizarre, unless he comes out and says he has refused all the sollicitations he has received.
No one is liked by everybody. The marketability point only makes sense if it was stated by Nike executives. Now I don't expect Smith to name his source, but it was not responsible to come out and say it without explaining it further. Not having a shoe deal could be evidence of other things like not agreeing on pay or other terms, etc...

So what Jaylen doing and what SAS is saying is totally opposite, Jaylen chooses not to go with these deals, that doesn’t mean he isn’t marketable, now that could be why Jaylen isn’t liked by someone but that doesn’t mean he isn’t marketable just because someone says he’s not likeable
Jaylen not having a sneaker deal doesn’t even remotely mean it’s bc no one has tried to sign him it could simply be bc he hasn’t agreed to sign w anyone

KB has a 300 Million dollar contract. Stephon Marbury didnt want his shoes being sold to kids for 300$ so he made his own for a cheap price and so did Shaq. Maybe Jalen doesnt support the Sneaker companies tactics is that wrong ? Jalen is set for life so he doesnt need to go agaist his principles for a check, You should try it sometimes. Money isnt everything to some people..
If you won’t reveal your source, ensure that you understand people have agendas against those who are successful.
If you ever meet someone who is liked by everyone... run.
Absolutely. That person is merely a slave.
big facts
I love my fellow Cal Bear, Jaylen Brown. Strong Black man. Smart. Intelligent. A much better man than this minstrel Stephen Smith.
What conditions needs Jaylen Brown in order to be likable ?
Is Draymond Green likable ?
Does he ?
If so .....why ?
Jaylen Brown is a decent man and great athlete .
I wish the best to him..
He deserve it.
They don’t like a brilliant black man that’s talented, brown is way more powerful than basketball that’s why the powers that be don’t want to add more fuel to his fire 🤘🏾 like and subscribe

If SAS doesn't like Jaylen Brown, I suddenly like Jaylen Brown more
Well you must hate Jaylen Brown, because in this very video Stephen A defends his character
@@earningzekrom4173and said on First Take that he liked him and knows many people do
When did he say he doesn't like him? He literally said multiple times he does like him, and that he deserves more recognition in the media. Do you people even listen to what he says or just hate on him because it's the narrative to hate on SAS?
He does like him..that not his point..
@@earningzekrom4173only when he's called out on his bullshit
Jalen Brown Supprted Kanye and was going to sign with Yeezy brand thats why he gets the hate from the media talking heads.
“Somebody” - but you want Zeke to call you off line.😂😂😂
Jaylen brown doesn’t have a show deal bc he has openly criticized Nike for bad work environment and exploding workers in third world countries. So it’s not about marketability it’s for what he STANDS on!! There’s a difference it’s his choice.. all these shoe deals would sign him! And the “I’m better than you attitude” Kobe, MJ, ant, jimmy butler… all have and are praised for it… the reason brown isn’t as marketable is he CHALLENGES those in higher positions to DO BETTER whether in the community or the less fortunate and THAT is the reason
Basically saying Jalen is uppity and we all know ain’t nothing worse than a young brotha that know who he is. This is the true topic that is being glossed over.
Absolutely. We all know they seek so-called blacks who are obsequious and who can be minstrels. They're not looking for blacks who know their worth. They (mis)take that for hubris.
you got it!!!!
You talk about his faults but u never high light his greatness first….U always speak negative on the black players u always take up for Dana white u find kind words whenever they do what you all deem bad….
He kind of said he’s good person should’ve made all NBA and one of the best players in the NBA it don’t get better then that he gave the flowers
Can you specifically quote a negative sentence that SA said about Jalen Brown 🤔
Bro just because you’re in love with Jaylen doesn’t mean you should make it a race thing, 98% of the league is black, if Stephen an always spoke negative in the black players the. Literally,he would never say anything positive about anybody. It’s actually the opposite,Stephen a hates on international player and is always looking for a "brother" to push…lol
He ended his deal because of the Kanye shit and I woulda done the same
There he goes with the phrase, "I've been knowing him for 30 years". #bet
This is utterly distasteful.
Not revealing your sources is just plain GOSSIP
Case 1) you want Isaiah to talk to you first before going public, when you yourself did not talk to Isiah or Jaylen brown when you went public with a “slanderous” statement.
Case 2) You may of voted for him to make all nba, but you did not advocate for him. There is a long list of players that’s get far more coverage than Jaylen brown.
The difference between 1 and 2 is that you went public with negative information, and were private with his support relatively
Yeah alotta people i know don't be liking Jaylen.
This guy is SELLOUT period!
Lol, this is clownery. They said the same thing about Kareem. Keep it 100. If you are intelligent, hve your own mind and aren't will to play their game by their rules, you are deemed not marketable, difficult or arrogent.......
Why would they give him a deal he a real 100%black man
Him and kyrie are good friends and he's his own agent. That says it all
Why would he call you? You consistently ask these dudes to "call you" when you make horrible statements IN PUBLIC about people. You're so obssessed with debate but you consistently want people to talk to you off record just because they know you? God you're a weird dude
Stephen A. been on an apology tour the last couple months, but won't apologize to Max Kellerman.
Tell the truth the Man Jaylen is smart Af that’s why you dont see racist trying him or asking him to speak badly about other blk man. That brotha smart af and will not compromise himself will not change from being a unapologetic strong straight blk man. Tell the truth
You got personal with kyrie after years of saying you never go personal with anyone… Stephen you’re a joke
facts all becuase of his stance on the covid shot and the link he shared that drove jews crazy
Jaylen Brown have $300 Million Dollar endorsement deal!!!!
They dont like JB for the same reasons they love ant edwards.. the real issue is the boston hate period
I’ve never seen him read text out loud on first take at least from what I’ve watched. He just trying to take a stab at my guy.
SAS! ALWAYS HATING & CRITICIZING!!!
SAS is a joke how do you know he wants a sneaker deal
Just maybe, maybe Mr. Brown does NOT want THAT attention
It’s simple, he does not want a deal with those brands! He is much more environmentally concerned! It’s a choice ! Wake up
You love saying we the number 1 show, Who’s to compete with?
But why is that something that needs to be shared ?its doing nothing but spreading negativity
I hope you apologize to J Will, who called you out on your personal takes on Kyrie.
This was a horrible take
It's not a take. He's literally just giving you facts. He doesn't have a shoe deal where all of these people do. You can get mad all you want. People get mad at facts all the time
Def a horrible take and also disingenuous. He bringing up the shoe deal etc because he’s mad Isaiah and everyone else called him out.
How? Lop ots all true you fool
@@crini413Brown is too intelligent for a shoe deal , in fact he's the smartest player in the league .
And he's dbling down on it. What are the facts behind JB thinking he's better than others? Didn't hear that "fact" in his dialogue
How are these facts? It's someone opinion
Opinions affect players money. Last time i checked, people with opinions vote for all NBA, vote for all defensive teams, vote for MVP etc. Those accolades affect a players pay.
SAS u cant talk shit bout JB on tv & get mad u got called out for BS by IT on X.
Public shit talking gets public reply on x
What does liking someone have to do with their basketball game? And Stephen A if you are not going to reveal your source why would you go on national TV & say that ppl don’t like Jaylen knowing it’s fans that’s just followers & go with whatever ESPN says? I think they know what they be doing with these narratives . It’s all cap 🧢
They talking about marketability . You cannot be the face of the league if you are only good at basketball. You need the personality and Jaylen doesn’t have it
@@bigKyrieFan11 just maybe he doesn't want to be. Is that wrong ?
@@TheThinkingMansTemplar it’s not wrong but it’s also true that he’s not marketable
JB doesn't need to be "marketable" aka play some other man's game - he's creating his own markets. I guess that's too much to handle for the small minded naysayers that want their athletes to shut up and dribble.
@@bigKyrieFan11 choosing not to do things may seem like he’s “unmarketable” but the reality is Jaylen has stood up and talked about his stance on shoe deals and some of these other endorsements on several occasions, Jaylen just wants the freedom to do the things he wants without someone trying to control him, that’s way different from getting no offers at all which SAS is trying to say
He's the Manu Ginobli to Tatum's Tim Duncan.
Stephen is a known liar. The fact he never gets called on it is a joke
The cancel people aren’t canceling this 🤡
There is no facts. You were wrong Stephen A. Stop letting these punks

They just want Brown on their team ✍️
SAS…LOUSY LOUD MOUTH 😂
maybe he doesn't want to.
Stephen A, every now and then you sling some hater comments man.. like with Max, you shouldn't of brought him up and why you didn't want to work with him anymore, that's not cool... then you have a "source" and sling more craziness about Jaylen Brown. Just dropping bombs and putting unverified thoughts in peoples minds. Do you know how your words are impacting people? Your held to a higher standard Sir, do better
Small hats don’t want to market. SAS U KNOW WHY
We all do
BECAUSE THE REAL JEWS ARE SO CALL BLACK PEOPLE THE FILL THE NBA
We don't trust you STEPHEN A.
This is how you deflect, change the narrative, and move the goal post people.
They didn’t do anything that you don’t do on a daily basis.
To your understanding? How is that facts? Come on man, stop the hate SAS.
Nike is a greek god in some beliefs. To some, it's worship of another god. I'm sure his beliefs are the reason.
When he won the ECF MVP the first thing he said is ALL PRAISES TO THE MOST HIGH
Yes, it all goes back to Nimrod, the maverick.
Unlike so many African-American athletes, analysts, commentators, and platform hosts, Jalen Brown has proven to be "smart enough" to ask the "questions" that prevents him from selling himself short and selling his people out just so he can "get paid" while being used and marketed for purposes that benefit the league.
celtics fan here. so one of the reason why people always pit tatum against brown is because how brown is being treated in boston.
at one point both their career. tatum average 4/17 fgs for 3-4 games. follow by season/career high. make the head news, and people start calling tatum the future. repeat for past 5 years
brown doesn't have alot of career/season high compared to other star, so brown hidden facts it's his consistency. brown average 8-15fg for 3-4 games, follow by 1 bad game. casual celtics fan: "brown is so inconsistent, trade brown while he still have value, brown is at best the 4th option, why is he on the court" brown gets no credit at all, not even highlights from most channels especially nba.
again repeat for past 5 years.
even in the months when tatum is slumping and brown is as consistent as usual(not alot career/season high), celtics always put brown on trade rumours for like almost 4 years and the fans continue to bash him and say break tatum and brown up, trade brown.
and the fans doesn't appreciate brown consistency. which infuriates true celtics fan that truly watch the game and not just highlights.
so now it's a war between true celtics fan(that doesn't forgive the treatment of brown) vs casual celtics/tatum fanboys constant war especially brown consistency is in the spotlight now and more people take notice of tatum inconsistency.
more people starts to bash tatum now.
at one point i think tatum fanboys deserved it but i think it's time to stop.
In the first place, why SAS brought up the issue of not well liked & non marketability of JB7 whilst not wanted to reveal his sources when he claimed he liked JB7 and nothing against him?
He making enough money and maybe he is content. $300 Million Dollars,
maybe he only want to make his money.
Stop worrying about him. Rich Paul is
not to enthusiastic about players getting sneaker deals. Jalen Brown
can invest with Jeff Bezo, in technology.
Maybe, he does not want a sneaker deal
right now.
List the man accomplishment
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I love it when sas reminds everyone that he has the number 1 show 💪💪💪💪💪💪
It's simple. He doesn't play the game with the media. He's way smarter than ya'll, and Kyrie just got his new deal this year after Nike dropped him.
U wasn’t supposed to bring up what that source said just like u did with Kapernick and just like u did with curry on Dreymonds suspension
He doesn't have a sneaker deal because he said the next shoe deal he said that they had to be a big part of the community and give back.
Jaylen Brown basically said the same thing as Stephen A.I’m a LeBron fan,so obviously i wouldn’t like Stephen A 😅 But i will say Stephen A is right 🤷🏾♂️ to me the Celtics should be run throu Jaylen Brown 💯 Jaylen has been 1 of my favorite players for years, but he speaks on black issues and he was speaking up for Kyrie during his situation and it backfired 🤔 He definitely deserves Top tier endorsements 👍🏾💪🏾 the only reason i would say he doesn’t get them endorsements, is most likely what Stephen A and Jaylen Brown said 🤔 There’s a reason the people dislike him
So what Jaylen doing and what SAS is saying is totally opposite, Jaylen chooses not to go with these deals, that doesn’t mean he isn’t marketable, now that could be why Jaylen isn’t liked by someone but that doesn’t mean he isn’t marketable just because someone says he’s not likeable
Jaylen not having a sneaker deal doesn’t even remotely mean it’s bc no one has tried to sign him it could simply be bc he hasn’t agreed to sign w anyone
Hey Little Stevie, Jaylen Brown is the MVP of the NBA finals. Any other pearls of wisdom to share?
This finals reminds me of 2016 finals, except the much better version.
Tatum > Curry
Luka > Lebron
Jaylen Brown > Klay
Irving is also at his peak at 32 yrs old like Kareem in 1980
he would have been the first Yeezy player but he signed with Kayne and you know what happened.
an intelligent blac man with money is always going to be feared !!!!
