I've had my Encore for almost a year now and I still love it! Great car with great gas mileage! Sporty, classy, and lots of extras, even at the base price. Pontiac was always my favorite GM line and, even though I owned a Buick Regal once, I always felt Buick was more my dad's style than mine. But the Encore is what would be if Pontiac and Buick had a baby together.
It is a great car but I bet you would be even happier if it could do 58+ to the gallon, well the same car here in the UK does just that, must be a different engine, the 1.6 turbo diesel does even more 69+ mpg, and these figures are combined, they do even more on the freeway with exactly the same HP as the US versions, if you were to keep it long term from new I would recommend importing one over and save loads over the life of the car.
hunter100t It could be that UK has lower emisions standards that might allow GM to put a different engine in your version. Over here, unless you buy a hybrid, cars don't typically get 58 mpg. Even the new 2016 Chevy Cruze only gets 40 mpg on the highway and that's considered great.
J.E. Rice When I said same engine I meant same output in horse power, but these engines are built here and Germany. tell you what though if I was in America and doing 40 to the gal at your pump prices, I would be happy enough. over here the us dollar translates to roughly 6.50 cents a gallon (imperial), on average 4.9 pounds sterling ! but then we do more miles to the gallon, the 1.6 diesel 136 HP does 74 mpg at 60 on the freeway, the 1.4 140 HP does 62 mpg same conditions. But I want a huge yank car that drinks it like its going out of fashion at 1 dollar a gallon !! the good old days lol.
Just think: if our Government didn't have such strct regulations on drilling for oil and would allow for more oil refinery plants our gas would practically be free in the US. We have more oil than Saudi Arabia, but our Government restricts our access to it. I agree, I would love see a return of the great American muscle cars. We still have the Camaro, Corvette and Mustang, but there used to be so many more.
J.E. Rice I suppose they are filtering its use for the future like ours with coal, oil, and gas (Natural gas) so we are not too reliant on others in the future. There are still muscle cars being built, more powerful than ever, but they don't feel or sound the same, full of computers to take away the risk, the fun. The old glory days are gone my friend, but something will turn up, a resurgence I hope.
Zingo -- I think the way Buick is promoting their vehicles as the "new" Buick. It started with the Enclave. What put it over the top was the LaCrosse. The LaCrosse was critically acclaimed as a significant competitor to the Lexus ES350. (entry level FWD luxury sedan). Then the Regal (an old named retained) -- a European handling mid-sized sport sedan and the Verano.

I drove one, and although the performance is obviously skewed towards fuel economy, overall it's not a bad package. You actually do get a lot of content for the price, but if Buick wants me to plunk down cash on the hood for one, it needs more power. The 2.0T from the Verano and Regal would be a good fit for the top 2 trim levels.
I know they sell, just never saw one. I always see Enclaves. Just bought a 2014 Grand Cherokee, however was planing to test drive an Enclave. Encore too small for me, but wanted to see one in person.
Buick needs to consider adopting 2.0L turbo-diesel engine used in Chevy's Cruze Eco TDI in the Encore as this should improve fuel economy to over 40mpg as the Cruze EPA highway rating of 46mpg.
There's something about this car I like and don't. I think it's cute and unique.. Something different from Buick, yet I wish it has a bigger motor size.
It's like Patrick Stewart and earl grey tea. The only thing I can tell is that his hair thinned out a small degree and that's with a good dab of scrutiny to his image. 31 seasons and not a lot has changed at all with him.
In England this is called a Vauxhall Mokka, and it is actually a small SUV to our standards - but you Americans are obviously used to way bigger things ;-)
I'm not American, I just think that it's false advertisement, an SUV is a car that is off-road worthy. A crossover is a sedan modified to look like an SUV, and a hatchback is a sedan with the trunk chopped off. This is the latter.
Or why not the 2.4L Ecotec engine found in the base Verano, Chevy Equinox and GMC Terrain? 180 hp+ should work, the 2.0T in the Verano on the Encore is putting a hot rod engine on a tiny crossover, but that engine on that tiny crossover? Sounds fun...

Yeah, this car is too small. You don't make a crossover using the Sonic platform. Crazy idea.

I've heard it is made in Korea..correct me if I'm wrong. The engine is only a 1.4 . They need a bigger engine.
