I'm originally from Omaha, and my father and I had a few cars repaired at this body shop. I'm glad someone there is keeping some of the histories alive!
very cool! thanks for sharing, i always like hearing stories and/or history about the old places where the signs used to hang. did you ever see the sign lit up, and if so, what do you recall what colors it had?
@@NeonPreservation I was born in 1980, so I'm old, but not that old. LOL! But Gary the old owner knows my family very well. He retired about 6-7 years ago, but as a kid, I never paid attention to it because we went to the shop during the day. I have a Fox Body Mustang that my father owned, and it was one of the last cars that were painted in that shop.
I love the old signs.. I'm hoping to have a custom sign built at some point. (a 3/8ths scale version of the Bates Motel sign from Psycho, 1960) Current I'm still trying to recreate the original blueprint from a blurry photo. I've worked out most of the measurements (even found a math mistake) but still having difficulty deciphering some of the additional notations
yes, the vintage wiring (both primary & secondary!) on some of my signs is pretty-sketchy. i will definitely be giving them a update with modern wiring for safety!
