What a wonderful tribute to Terry Gordy. The Freebirds defined greatness in wrestling back in the 1980’s and literally brought many territories back to life.

man this song pulls at my emotions. watching these guys perform back in the day was the greatest thing ever. its sad that todays wrestling fans wont get the chance to feel what we did in the 80's watching these guys show boat around, strutting and moonwalking. the fabulous freebirds were the best entertainers in the industry. thanks guys for all you have done for us through the years.
Michael not only have you lost Terry and now Buddy, you have watched a lot of guys leave, many who left too soon. Reality has placed you now in the position along with guys like Kevin Von Erich, Sting, Undertaker and others in a position of being the elder statesmen of the business. Keep sharing your memories with the young guys.
This was beautiful. It brought me to tears. I grew up with wrestling and this was amazing. God bless everybody involved in this video and those that aren’t with us rest in peace, Terry.❤
Absolutely incredible. The Fabulous Freebirds were a huge part of my childhood. Such awesome memories watching Michael,Bam Bam, and Buddy Jack raising hell and kicking ass.
You take a drink and pour out one for those who aren't with us in person. That's how you do it. My dad taught me that and now I'm doing it when I visit him. ❤️
God, I miss seeing Terry, Michael, and Buddy as well as Jimmy Jam. This song made a tear fall down. I'm not gonna lie. Terry, you are missed by everyone.
A remake of Johnny Van Zant’s Brickyard Road, a tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Ronnie Van Zant, with the words slightly changed. Michael paying tribute to two things at once, Johnny’s song and his fallen brother Bam Bam. Great stuff.
It is hard to believe that it’s been a little over 20 years now. I have the pleasure of knowing Michael and Terry for close to 50 years. Terry’s dad, daughters and nephew. I actually spoke with Terry the night before he passed. He had his faults as do we all but a better friend I’ve never had.
Michael - I watched you on TV and at the Sportatorium in the 80s, and I loved you and the Freebirds. This song is a spectacular tribute to one of the greatest. Thank you so much for recording it and for posting it. I wish it was the 80s again, for about a million different reasons.
I miss, like really miss the 80's. Especially watching wrestling with my Dad every weekend. I miss the NWA, AWA, WccW, (old)-WCW, and the other territories. The Road Warriors, Free Birds, Von Erich's, Gino Hernandez, Chris Adams, Jim Garvin and Sunshine, Koloff's, Midnight Expreess, Midnight Rockers, Midnight Rockers, etc.....Those were great times and great wrestling. The guys and gals today will never ever match up to those old dogs.
Back when all of the promotions started syndication, there was a station in Atlanta that me and my Dad would watch from 7pm until it went off the air (or until he fell asleep) I saw my dad kick our TV because he didn't like the finish of a match 😱😱🤣🤣 my Mom went out and bought the most expensive TV and told him that if he kicked that TV that she would buy a the most expensive TV again (it was a 27" Curtis Mathis floor model that cost $800.00"back in 1982)

How great was it ? 35-40 years later here we are STILL talking about it and now get to watch a movie about it. Hats off to Fritz and family...but man, hats off to PS, Bam Bam, and Buddy Jack ! Thankful we still got Kevin and Michael around. This is wrestling...and these men were the best at it. Hopefully PS reads this...thank you for some great memories. BADSTREET USA !
Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy was a beast in the wrestling ring. Had that rough house style and had wrestling skills. Plus he used to talk big tag l trash, but could back it up. He's definitely in my Top 10 of all time
I'm so glad I have all the Freebirds music, including "I'm a Freebird What's Your Excuse" by Hayes & Garvin. And I'm so blessed to of been able to talk all things wrestling, with Jimmy Papa the Badstreet Band's drummer on the phone. We talked wrestling, Freebirds, fishing, & drinking. Michael PS Hayes. You sir did the ultimate tribute to BamBam in my humble opinion here. He was no question one of the absolute best. And certainly one of the best bigger guys in the wrestling world. And I know that if he were here today and in a matter of speaking in his prime. He could damn sure go toe to toe with anyone on any given night. He had some of the most legendary matches ever with "Dr. Death" Steve Williams. Those 2 bulls going at one another. Was a site to see. what a great tribute was never the biggest freebird fan but i know the heartfelt message mr hayes had for his brothers may you forever fly free mr gordy god bless you and rest in peace
Dammit. I teared from the beginning. Those types of relationships/brotherhoods come only once in a lifetime, some dont get it at all. Ive been blessed to have experienced it. And lost one of those relationships when he passed a few years back. I can feel PS's pain and love
I used to hate the freebirds. I was always a von erich groupie, but the freebirds intro was the best "bad street". Damn Terry always wearing half tees and giving the high thumbs up really bothered me. I guess they were so good at being the heels. I miss old time wrestling.
Great video Mike, there are lots of us who loved you, Bam Bam and Buddy and Jimmy Jam. You guys delivered the goods every time and we loved it and lived it.
What great times they must've shared together. As fans, we only got a tiny glimpse of it. Imagine the stories.... Thanks for the memories, and the heartfelt tribute...
My introduction to wrestling was around Wrestlemania 5, I was seven years old. My brother and I watched any wrestling that came on tv and I remember the Free Birds clearly. When you're that young you don't understand the concept of the business, but as I got older and especially as these legends began to leave us you realize just how special they were, rather face or heel. Terry Gordy is one of those legends, wonderful tribute from Michael Hayes.
The Freebirds where never appreciated enough. Michael you three brought so much joy to me and my dad. Lifetime of memories for me and my dad loved you all so much back in the day it was the Freebirds this and the Freebirds that with him. Miss him so much and miss those day's God bless you brother
He sure was!! I loved the Freebirds. They were always entertaining, they gave my man Dr Death hell in the 80’s. I saw the Freebirds vs Terry Taylor, Ted Debiasi, and Dr Death in a 60 minute showdown in Tulsa fairgrounds around 1986. It was so entertaining.
I’ve followed the Birds all my life...even took their handle in my youth...how did I not know about this until now? This choked me up more than the Johnny Van Zant original! I wish I had known them, they were the baddest dudes ever and influenced my life and career choice as a musician so much even though they were wrestlers. BEAUTIFUL tribute to the late, great Terry “Bam Bam” Gordy! Fly high FOREVER Freebirds! 💛🙏✝️👊👊👊
so damn sad when you lose someone close that you grew up with, hit the road with, kickin ass together, 40, 50, 60 to young to die. lets all hope we live to be 100! RIP Terry. Great freakin song Michael! The south has rose again and forever the south will stand tall and proud to be rebels for life!! wave those rebel flags my brothers and sisters! God bless! Fabulous Freebirds for life!
Had tears in my eyes, love em or hate em, they were a force to be reckoned with, but they were about as iconic, if not more than Flair and the Horsemen, and you had to give them the respect because where they went, they put asses in seats, and you wished you could have some Beam (Jim) or Daniels (Jack) with those guys...just a great and fun group of wrestlers who as the song said, took names and numbers and kicked ass. Great song, and appropriate as Michael PS Hayes accepts Buddy and Terry's entrance along with Michael's entrance into the WWE Hall of Fame. Long time coming...and too bad it couldn't have been done sooner.
Miss Ole Bam Bam. Freebirds were always the best wrestling team in history , inspite of the "heel" persona, you have brought so much joy to the wrestling world. Thank you for investing your career to serving the fans of WCCW. God bless you Michael for keeping the memory of The Freebirds alive. You all may have been the bad guys, but y'all were lived too.
perfect and a great tribute to Terry Gordy song also reminds me of my childhood my family took one of my friends to Disneyland with us we were 14 or 15 in the hotel watching the Freebirds my mom was let's go said we'll be right there we're watching the Freebirds cowboy boots and the cowboy belt buckles always represent being a champ and tough because of Terry Gordy that's why we went and bought them those were the good days thank you
Michael Hayes did a great job on this tribute song to his brother Terry Gordy and to the people with negative comments about this should have kept their snide comments to themselves instead of making jokes about a person mourning the loss of a loved one. It really just amazes me how classless people are in today's time. I guarantee these people wouldn't be joking about this if it was one of their loved ones.
My wife had our son in July of 86. We met Terry at a car dealership in Downtown Fort Worth, just before you guys left Texas. One of the nicest guys I ever met, you guys were the GREATEST heals on WCCW, I miss watching Wrestling from those days. Todays stuff just don't cut the mustard!!!
I'm not the biggest fan of PS Hayes, but I have nothing but the utmost respect for the man. He gave his boy Terry Gordy a truly heartfelt tribute. A tribute not just to a legend, but an icon.
Great tribute! This is also his version of Brickyard Road by Johnny Van Zant who is the brother of the original singer in Lynyrd Skynyrd who also made the song free bird.
That is very beautiful song thank you for sharing that beautiful song with me and thank you for sharing the video with me love you all love Robin Greenwood 💞🌹💞🎶
Grew up watching the Freebirds in the WCCW. They were my favorite tag team back then. Loved their feuds with the Von Erich family. RIP Terry. Long live Badstreet USA!
From Badstreet USA to Sweet Home Alabama...The freebirds were legendary...Great song Michael and a great tribute to a legend..We all love and Miss You and Buddy Jack Roberts, BAM BAM
That's a beautiful tribute to his teammate The fabulous freebirds were always at threesome and they dominated wrestling for a long period of time he is definitely missed by the fans way to go showing your brother how much you love him with this tribute song.
Long live the freebirds 4 ever.rip Terry "Bam Bam Gordy" the best enforcer in wrestling.michael ps Hayes the best badguy of wrestling.they were the reason I loved the sport.thank you for the memories and thank you for bad street and most of all thank you for all the excitement you brought to wrestling.and most of all thank you for being the fabulous free birds.
My grandfather was head of security at the Sportorium. He’d take all the grandkids to watch the shows. That sparked my love for wrestling. The Freebirds was the first Heels I knew.
The Freebirds vs the Von Erichs is my all-time favorite feud. With the unimaginable tragedies that surround the Von Erich family it's easy for me to forget that Terry Gordy also passed away far too soon at only 40 years old. He was one of the toughest guys in wrestling and as a huge fan of the Von Erichs as a kid I feared him every time he got into the ring with one of them because I knew he was going to do some damage to my heroes lol. RIP Bam Bam
This is how you pay tribute to your brother. I grew up a a huge freebirds fan. Heels? Baby faces? Didn't matter, they were rockstars- bad asses, larger than life. These guys entertained me and other fans for so many years and now? Half of them are gone. Just shows you just how precious life really is. RIP Terry & Buddy.
You knew Business was about to pickup that night When Terry Gordy walked down the Aisle, Michael, You and Him together was absolute Wrestling magic, I look back on those days with a tear in my eyes, Thinking about all those great matches Not only at the Sportatorium but all over the U.S. The Freebirds will always be in my heart, Face/Heel didn't matter to me. I was a Fabulous Freebird fan....... With my Stars and Bars flag, and wild Eyed Stare..... trying my damn best to be Bam Bam....................................... He may well be gone but He is not forgotten............ Fly on Freebird, Fly away. We will see you again someday.
Michael, I'm a 43 year old lawyer and country music singer/songwriter and have been watching wrestling since I was 6 years old. You were and will always be one of my favorites. Thank you for making my life just that much better all these years. God bless you my friend. Jarrod Nichols

Michael Hayes, what a wonderful tribute to a great wrestler, entertainer, & friend.
RIP Terry Gordy #ladywrestlingfan
I met Terry Gordon in Pensacola Florida when he wrestler there. He was good in the ring. He could get the crowd angry so quick. Rest In Peace Bam Bam
first time watching this. I remember Bam Bam Gordy. I remember the Fabulous Freebirds. Great tribute, good song! RIP Terry
Terry Gordy is one of those legends, wonderful tribute from Michael Hayes.
damn I can't listen to this without tearing up
Me either
I know
Glad I am not the only one. I was a huge Freebirds fan back in the day.
imagine how Micheal must feel

@@davidjones6470 it took your sorry ass five yrs to reply to this comment ...
Terry Gordy will never be forgotten as shall the Free birds..fly ..fly..brother..rest now in GODs loveing imbrace..🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
I loved watching the freebirds when I was growing up
mharm734 they wete awesome to watch always knew something big was fixing to go down when tbe birds came out!!!

@@juniorcoleman4974 what happens to Michael hayes
I’ve followed the Birds all my life...even took their handle in my youth...how did I not know about this until now? This choked me up more than the Johnny Van Zant original! I wish I had known them, they were the baddest dudes ever and influenced my life and career choice as a musician so much even though they were wrestlers. BEAUTIFUL tribute to the late, great Terry “Bam Bam” Gordy! Fly high FOREVER Freebirds! 💛🙏✝️👊👊👊
I listen to this everyday loved the free birds Badstreet USA the further down the block the rougher it got...RIP bam bam and buddy thank you PS...
Wow he got an awesome voice and the song is so heart felt ....
I didn't know he knew how to sing. Great song & tribute to one of the greats. Thank you for the song and tribute. R.I. P.
so damn sad when you lose someone close that you grew up with, hit the road with, kickin ass together, 40, 50, 60 to young to die. lets all hope we live to be 100!
Didn't happen soon enough. If anybody's deserved it,it was the freebirds. Just my opinion.
And I would kill to just have one just one drink with those guys. Jimmy garvin included
openmind1966 also jimmy garvin going in as a freebird
openmind1966 obv not even close to as iconic as Flair and Horseman.
@@nWoKilluminatinot entirely true
Miss Ole Bam Bam. Freebirds were always the best wrestling team in history , inspite of the "heel" persona, you have brought so much joy to the wrestling world. Thank you for investing your career to serving the fans of WCCW. God bless you Michael for keeping the memory of The Freebirds alive. You all may have been the bad guys, but y'all were lived too.
Today is the memory of your died day 16/07/2001, your fans will not ever forget you. R.I.P terry bam bam Gordy.
Bam Bam Gordy was one of the All Time Greats!! Thank you for the memories Big Terry!! Freebird Fover!
One of my all-time favorite wrestling teams! Awesome video M.P.S. Hayes! RIP Terry Gordy Sr
I was young when yall were a legend. Shalom
The Freebirds is still the best wrestling team around. sure miss them.
I still love you all more than all the others!!!!! 💕 What a beautiful tribute to your dear friend. Always remembered .... forever loved.
Bruce sent me here. Glad he did.
song is a complete rip off of a johnny van zant song from mid 1980s called brick yard road its the exact same song 🤣
@@bb-gc2txIt’s supposed to be…
perfect and a great tribute to Terry Gordy song also reminds me of my childhood my family took one of my friends to Disneyland with us we were 14 or 15 in the hotel watching the Freebirds my mom was let's go said we'll be right there we're watching the Freebirds cowboy boots and the cowboy belt buckles always represent being a champ and tough because of Terry Gordy that's why we went and bought them those were the good days thank you
What a great tribute to his brother. Freebirds forever.
as long as Michael ps Hayes is alive the fabulous freebirds will never die.
So beautiful watched them the whole time don't mis watching wrestling I'm 62 seen all or our loved ❤ wrestlers get gone
That was nice Michael. I know what Terry meant to you. He was my favorite Freebird.
thanks Michael this was a great song, this song brought me back to the ol days of the fabulous free birds
RIP TERRY AND BUDDY GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES.
I am proud to say that I had the chance to meet Michael Hayes
This actually brought a tear to my eye. They were my favorite tag team.
Great tribute! This is also his version of Brickyard Road by Johnny Van Zant who is the brother of the original singer in Lynyrd Skynyrd who also made the song free bird.
I can't get enough of this. RIP TERRY!
Mr. Hayes, may God bless you. Please always know that the Freebirds live in the hearts of all wrestling fans around the world.
I love going back...back to Freedom Road...............R.I.P BamBam
Great rewrite of Johnny Van Zant's "Brickyard Road" in tribute to Bam Bam....I miss the days when rasslin was "real" and The Freebirds soared high
Thanx Michael, Terry and Buddy for the great memories. Heel or not, y’all was some of the greatest entertainers of my past!
