:( I am sorry that the tracklaying standards of the ES&D are not up to snuff with the Straightline Rail Co. I hope we can still come help operate here and there ;)
Fun fact, I wasn't sure how to get the point across in a short message - but figured "Fix Me" would suffice. I originally saw that message on the long-out-of-service D&RGW 497 at the Cumbres and Toltec, and it's always stuck with me as something a bit silly. Cheers mate :)

At least your message to fix the track at the sawmill did work, it just happened to be more delayed than what some would've liked. The gravity line that kan has is definitely up to the ES&D standards before it gets fixed

@@Hyce777 kan definitely went through the gravity line once himself with a full load of raw iron and also had sent dapper down it as well, guess it's either ask to go down it or watch the videos of their perspectives down it as it's pretty crazy when you have to deal with s-bends, a slight hill, some flat spots, and the feeling that at any given moment you could have too much speed and derail at any point in it or come to a complete stop of you brake too much

Instead of having a full loop around the facility, have a siding along side the loading dock for a train to pass by. And for trains that need to make a U-turn they need to use the turntable and connect to the back of their train to head in the direction they came from. Just to give some operation to to the yard. Narrow gauge railroads probably wouldn’t have that huge loop around that facility due to coast and space. Just something a bit different and add some interesting operation to the railroad.
Great work on the track and video.

    FINALLY! he made the Wye!!!!
the Wye's are fine for turning locos around or even whole trains!
you don't need a Turntable here or anywhere you already have a Reversing Loop in place.
but a pre marked spot for the future Maintenance shed/shop and the fueling/water depot in a dedicated Service Yard is needed.
overall it looks clean and smooth, now to fill that yard with cars and loads awaiting delivery.
this is something to be done at other sites to improve flow and throughput once you call in ALL your friends for a major running session.
get those passing sidings in place ASAP.
then you can have a little fun creating some insane engineering trackwork.
get some more locos and a heap more cars and start raking in the Dead Presidents!

You should look into making a bypass line that stretches out from the second Y on the loop track that skips the original Y to the sawmill and goes to the lumber camp so in multiplayer people don't constantly need to flick the switches to run log trains to and from the sawmill.
    Great vid btw.

  • @kleetus92
    @kleetus92 2 года назад +1

So just a thought, you could also do a mirror image yard from the log unload point, throw a switch in on the bridge side, then build back out with several more sidings... you could have an empty and loaded classification yard there, and scrap the turntable and engine house, throw that over by the finished wood area.
Still, nice work none the less!

Honestly 3 or 4 sidings parallel with the main track on each side would be most effecient.
Everyone forgets 1 siding and a turntable can eliminate the need for the big loop. Just turn the engine and move it to the other end.
At the sawmill you could come in with a load, disconnect from cars pull forward to a turntable, turn 90 degrees and back into the outbound shunting yard to pick up a load.
    Not so many wyes needed.

    • @miragept

Unfortunately turntables in this game are incredibly annoying to use, they are too realistic. To turn 180° it easily takes 30s to do it, used to do your suggestion but after the first time i just ran the locomotive backyards and now i do loops because it is just faster.(when possible, my iron line i rerail the locomotive+tender or just run it backyards if a tank one, front link on tenderized locomotives looks weak unfortunately)

I don't store any cars by the Freight Depot. I did build ten tracks or so in the vicinity of the loading dock side of the Saw Mill. This is the busiest area of my railroad. I load most of my cars in six-car cuts, then store them in the yard. All my industries are connected. I didn't build any wyes or loops. I shove to or back from the industries as required. This is more realistic to IRL operations and I almost never need to run for switches. I will say; shoving back to the Saw Mill from the Coal Mine sucks. Also, I only connected the Logging Camp to the unloading area of the Saw Mill. I can run log trains without affecting the loading docks at all. I run six-car cordwood trains straight to the Smelter and back. Good Times!!

Yeah, while there's only a single shed hooked up, I'd use a switch. You can position all elements in a way that makes it possible to replace that switch with a turntable for when you ever need more than 2 engines there. So effectively, i'd build the turntable+shed layout and then replace the turntable with a switch (or just elevate the switch a bit and leave the turntable in place under it).
