I can see how having a 4 year old would demand balance. For those who aren't married or have no significant other I think to be able to do something you love and that brings you profound epic moments, as long as you're paying your bills and reaching out to your family and friends that person should be fine with being "addicted " to the sport. I've taking hang gliding lessons and twice pulled my hamstrings sprinting down the practice hills at lookout mountain. That plus my career of working 4 to 8 week refinery shutdowns where I work 7 12s straight then I have opportunities to fly until my next refinery shutdown. I'm excited to learn paragliding as well as hang gliding. To be honest, paragliding seems much more difficult to master but I'm ready to dedicate myself to the long-term and slowly get the skills up. Thank you for putting these videos out. I have depression from certain areas of life and the way you talk it sounds like flying will help immensely with that and put things more into perspective.

I was a millwright for 7 years, those shut downs are big money, but so draining. Are you in the bay area, CA?

Love the topic. New pilot and the meta I have gone into already in the first few months is amazing. Like apply Chrigel X-Alps tactics in business and my post-flight analysis is really a regular already. Debriefing mistakes, but not letting your mistakes chase you in flight. Take the learning and then concentrate on flying, not thinking about mistakes as it distracts from flying.
Which tactics to apply to start flying distances and getting comfortable enough to fly without knowing where exactly you will land? How to get comfortable handling the wing in higher winds? How to get yourself to top land somewhere, what's the strategy to approach this?

Can you find the balance without going through the unbalanced addiciton phase first? I wouldn't have.

It is all invisible air you can't really look over there and see where is rising or falling until you fly into it and then you're doing something. I'm only at the wing handling stage right now and I'm amazed at how nonchalant you guys are at being low and making a landing. The launch and the landing. I'm still at the ground handling stage and the most important thing to me is learning to run down a hill and catch it up draft, and to be able to land safely. You should never beat yourself up if you can jump up and hang on to a bag of wind and fly through the sky. Of all the things in life that you might try to do inner bully hindsight is 20/20 applies this is the ultimate. Looking at the situation from the beginning you flew into the wrong Air at the wrong place. It was all invisible no way to look at it and know for sure what was there. The only thing you actually know is how wrong you are. You don't know where you made your choice that ended up with a bad choice and landing short of the goal. Even if you were finding your way in second place third place and then fell back and came short you can't tell how much the sink changed in the distance between two gliders. Not anywhere nearly the amount of information required looking back at the race, to be sure there was any path with any better outcome than the one you took. You take off you land you're happy. You are so blessed with your skills that you earned, you make me want to cry. Don't let them beat you from the inside out.
