Then the Arabs decided to go further afield and trade by Sea ⛵... So Petra fell and the Romans defaced the magnificent fecade on the buildings. The Treasury is NOT as they say, you can see it behind the guy narrating @ 22:06 mins. and non of the buildings were Tombs, much of Petra has still to be discovered. From Petra to Egypt and Syria it was known as the Kings Highway. There is an amazing video, a sort of advertising professional video - Welcome to Petra - it makes ref. to Cleopatra and many amazing things. Remember Petra was an Empire.

So you're saying the Nabataeans, a nomadic people with no history of stone work. Just settled one day and became master stonesmiths then proceeded to abandon it.........right lol
Yes actually they started in Hegra in Saudi Arabia and moved to Petra. They used to carve stones there and moved to Petra because of trade and became vastly rich.
They abandoned it because Muslims don’t believe in pagans, these are pagan gods, so they abandoned it. Muhammad himself said don’t enter these buildings these are pagans and they have been earthquaked because of gods wrath.
Prophet Muhammad was from Petra and an idol worshipper until he came in contact with the Nabatean Christians especially the tribes like Ghassanid, Lakhmid, Banu Kalb, etc. Even his wife's uncle Warraqa Ibn Nafwal was an Ebionite Christian who lived near the path from Petra to Aram (Syria). I'm not a Christian but facts are facts. Even Mecca that Muslims believe is not the same as it is today.
You are saying non-facts as facts. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was not from Petra, but born in Mecca of the Quraysh tribe. He was never an idol worshipper albeit the Pre-Islamic Quraysh tribe worshipped idols. He used to find solace in a cave at Mount Hira', away from the worshipping and rituals of the tribe.

I believe that the people are very humble and nice. It was also an important place to develop commerce, and I understand that people need to work and trade. But when it comes to worship.... The Nabataeans promoted false worship. How can we be sure?? Long before the Nabataeans came to Petra... Almighty GOD YHVH advise mankind not to worship images, or carve them... EXODUS chapter 20 Certain areas and some forms of worship including and demanded human sacrifice. Did the Nabataeans had the same practice???
Indeed, the inhabitants of Petra worshiped an idol called Dushara, which means (the god of the mountains)..and his statues are everywhere there.. And all these false gods were abolished by the grace of Christ .
I have wondered the same thing. This documentary is better than most, as it shows more than just the same few buildings, but I have always wondered, "If it was a city, where did the people live?" The focus on tombs make them seem to be as obsessed with death as the Egyptians. I'm only half way through, so I thought, "Surely they will get to the domestic areas, but, I think you have answered question.

…. ‘’An impressive scene greets the traveller when the multi-coloured sandstone formations of the most famous ghost town in the world looms up before him. Added to this is the mystery of the city’s history as well as the expectation that, according to Revelation 12:6, it might serve as a refuge to a remnant in Israel when the Antichrist will order the worldwide genocide of Jews, lasting for the last 3½ years of the tribulation period. Despite the absolute desolation of Petra its role in history is not yet past’’

Greetings from Pakistan amazing place and best documentary.
Excellent, to think Petra was carved out of the rock. So beautiful.
Right? That blew my mind.
Thats why its called Petra. Derived from the Greek meaning "Rock"

OMGosh, remember when they told the world the Pyramids were built as Tombs , not true of course as we now know.
Petra was a Glorious Trade Rout Empire, where the Arabs did their Trade on Land.
What about that certain executive? Is it up to us to imagine what we can't tell you?
It's a great system and can't be stopped.
Had the pleasure of visiting your beautiful country as part of the Holy Land tour in 2018. Unfortunately we could not visit Petra. Maybe some time in the future we will have the pleasure of doing so, God willing😊
schön wärs gewesen, wenn man das nicht mit deutschem titel ankündigt, wenns doch ne englische doku ist 😡
I hope the horses are treated humanely. The place is beautiful, I hope it's preserved. Cheers Rosemary Perth Western Australia 72yrs

I have visited your neighbours hurgharda in eygpt
Loved this documentary. Thank you
Absolument époustouflant ! Quand on pense que tout cela a été creusé à main d'homme. Merci pour ce beau reportage et toutes les explications.
I am in awe to think human hands carved this beautiful place. It is great seeing this on my tv
Wow! I would love to visit this place. How extraordinary.
Merveilleuse video. Thank you so much! It is fantastic!
I was just there last September. It is such an amazing place!
It looks like a dry dead land inhabited by evil spirits from a Babylon origin around the time of Nimrod. 🐫🦁😶🌫
but somebody cleaned the road for the ride in
Petra always reminded me of the word petrified. Maybe a city destroyed and petrified and only imprints left for us to see now.
I am fascinated. Doing more research on Petra. The French speaking man sure can go on with varying possibilities of the history of Petra.
The Nabateans in 6 century BC were Arab but not muslim because Islam would not arise until 6 century CE.
They were because they are descendant of Prophet Ibrahim peace upon him
@@LylieRandale Abraham was an Israelite, he couldn't have made the muslim.
@@dorandacolbert5973he’s not Israelite, Israelite comes from the word Israel means Jacob which is grandson of Abraham and Abraham is the father of both Jews and Arabs.

Petra was built by the Naphaliym - GIANTS. LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THE PLACE, THE PILLARS AND THE DOORS and then read the Old Testament and the book of Enoch.

Stupid humans don't make so many children 😔😔🤯🥵😰
I’m fortunate in having been able to visit Jordan in 1988. The landscape and people were welcoming and informative. Thank you for this
Petra is super impressive upclose
So you're saying the Nabataeans, a nomadic people with no history of stone work. Just settled one day and became master stonesmiths then proceeded to abandon it.........right lol
They became incredibly wealthy and paid others until they were skilled.
@@anuarmohd1709 she is absolutely right...Jordan kings are the descendants of him

J Aime bien toujours le "tombé dans l oubli le site est découvert par un blanc"
Alors que le gens y vivaient là-bas tranquille
This is where the original 'KA'BA' was located before pale Arab's blow it up and moved it. Now it stands in Mecca. There's a lost civilization buried there under the desert sands. There's other worshipping temple site's created by Black African's there as well.

Very nice documentary. What of the (not mentioned) 'melted' stones? Do earthquakes melt stone??
I'm betting they didn't have a violin in Petra, or anywhere else in the Nabataean lands.
EXODUS chapter 20
Certain areas and some forms of worship including and demanded human sacrifice.
Did the Nabataeans had the same practice???
Indeed, the inhabitants of Petra worshiped an idol called Dushara, which means (the god of the mountains)..and his statues are everywhere there.. And all these false gods were abolished by the grace of Christ .
The modern-day truett-hurst has no clue......
Mining down into places and finding equipment from the past civilization really blows people's minds
Looking at the heights of the doorways, could it be they were Giants ??? Some mentioned they were.
Doesn’t jinn mean the devil ?
Only to modern day fundamentalist christians with little understanding of history and what it meant then.
Yesssss

All I see are temples. Where are the houses?
I have wondered the same thing. This documentary is better than most, as it shows more than just the same few buildings, but I have always wondered, "If it was a city, where did the people live?" The focus on tombs make them seem to be as obsessed with death as the Egyptians. I'm only half way through, so I thought, "Surely they will get to the domestic areas, but, I think you have answered question.
