I'm so glad, thank you.
What a great video ... absolutely clear, concise and to the point (I easily get lost when people who are trying to teach use too many pointless words losing the thread of what they're supposed to be teaching ). Thank you so much.

You can save the document in PDF and then protect it from there. Click on the icon to edit text and images at the right top of the pdf document, protection, restrict editing and then put in your password. They will not be able to convert that pdf into a word document or copy it.
Thank you very much for the useful video!

how can I just lock the header and footer so I can distribute the file in the office without making it move and move.
I can edit after protection
but they can copy and paste it into a new document and edit it from there try it you'll see I'm right
How can you stop someone copying and pasteing it into a new word document?
Short answer - you can't I'm afraid. Even if you converted it to a PDF you can't stop people who are determined. All you can do is to use this method to make sure your original copy is untouched.
+Ian Harvey You can just change editing restrictions to "filling as forms" so that the other users can't even select or copy anything in the document.
Although you're correct, George, this will stop editing of the original document, there is still nothing to stop the user from re-saving the document to another format (RTF for example) or even printing it to a PDF, allowing for editing of the file. It;s even possible to use a text editor such as Word Pad to open a restricted Word document and copy the text. There's really no absolute way to restrict access to the text if you're mildly determined.
Hello, The Tech Train how do I lock the footer and header of word document so no one can temper will the logo and the details abut still be able to type on the document. Pls help. Thanks
Hello Amanda, make sure you've subscribed to this channel because I'll be publishing a video which explains how to do this in just a few days. Hopefully that should help you.
yeah comments below are right
yes but it allows you to copy and that is a problem
well, i did learn something...
Glad you liked it!
This doesn't work completely. You can simply copy the protected text and then paste into a NEW document that is then totally EDITABLE.
