I seriously went through just this. HAHAHA Especially skipping class to go sleep in my tiny single dorm bed. And when I broke it off I swear he must've burst into this song without the song.
What a haunting song... sheet music please!! :) 2:00 - 3:30 speaks far too many truths for me to handle... can't wait to see phoebe on the 18th in SA! :-D
To the people that are saying she "needs to work on switching from chest voice to head voice" ....the song is suppost to be like that. When she is singing high and soft in her head voice thats how the song is SUPPOST to be. she is a professional, she wouldnt do it like that just because she needs to work on it. im just saying.....
@bluejollyranchers14 It's supposed to be like that. As stated previously. I've seen many versions of it, and it's always like this. The song was written like that..
I love this song to death! But I'm afraid that i like Morgan Weeds version better. The reason is because Morgans voice is richer. Phoebe does have an amazing voice as well though.
Im probably gonna be bashed for saying this, i dont think she's actually singing correctly, especially on the high notes however, i will say that she has a BEAUTIFUL presence, and a beautiful tone
After listening to both this version and Morgan Weeds, I would say that though Morgan's version is better as per musical technique, that I like Phoebe's better. I really like the dynamic she has, and like mahsquide said, how she builds it up to the climax of the song. I guess I feel like, although both performances are incredible, that I believe Phoebe's more... personally, I just connect with her better in this song than Morgan.
Sounds wonderful but it is true her transition from chest to head voice needs to be worked on a tad bit it may need to be projected but it shouldn't be flat. Don't get me wrong. this was very well done.
@peeweerock The word is "supposed" and all professionals still have things to work on. So switching is not her strong point, plenty of other things are.
I love this song, and her performance, but I disagree with those saying this is the best performance of this song. Personally, the Lisa Howard version on K&L's website is more touching. I love Phoebe's acting, but her belting in the middle takes away from it.
I saw Lea, and I thought she was an ok actress. AMAZING singer. Acting was average. Good enough for broadway, but I agreed with not nominating her for best actress.
Sure she is a professional, and I actually liked her performance, but there is no denying that there were parts that could be worked on. She could work on blending her head and chest, and work on stability and support in that shaking in-between place, you can hear it in her voice. She was also flat a few times (mostly in head or transition). That being said her placement in her belt is pretty remarkable. I'm not sure this song is really suited for her voice. Not all songs are suited to a voice.
"We hadnt learned yet that each romance has a last day" - wrecks me every time
phoebe strole is phenominal, this is the best version hands down
All the imperfections people complain about on this video add to the emotion of the song and are part of why this is my favorite version.
i love her voice, omigosh. i'm glad she can branch out like this and have people hear her "not Anna" voice lol.
Remarkable! She performs this song so perfectly! I love you Phoebe!!!!! :)
Everything about this is great, Phoebe and the song itself.
I wish I'd been able to see Tales From The Bad Years.
I'm STILL obsessed with this song. It couldn't be more... perfect.
This song still gets me. Every time. First time I heard it, I cried.
I don't even know how many times I've come back to listen to this song again.
I've probably commented on this song at least three times, haha, but I never tire of viewing/listening. Someone please put Phoebe back on stage!
I seriously went through just this. HAHAHA Especially skipping class to go sleep in my tiny single dorm bed. And when I broke it off I swear he must've burst into this song without the song.
WOAH! Phoebe, that was incredible!!!
i wasn't so much a fan when i first watched this but i've gotta say she really is perfect for this song. gorgeous
this song is chilling. "it's just two friends all grown up."

I would buy a professional recording in a heartbeat.

Phoebe! Come back to Broadway plz.

deep.

you can convert youtube videos to mp3s! google "youtube converter."
phoebe owns.
I know!!
I mean, I loooovee Socha but Phoebe hadn't been on for Wendla since July 2007.
@fashiongurlie300 I saw her mid-July of 2007, on a Wednesday morning. I'd have to find my playbill for the exact date, haha.
Well she left Spring Awakening on July 19, so we'll see where she goes from there ;)
I love this song to death! But I'm afraid that i like Morgan Weeds version better. The reason is because Morgans voice is richer. Phoebe does have an amazing voice as well though.

...iloveher.
where can you hear that version?
They have a free mp3 of this on their site, but it's sung by a different person...
@x3kelly when was she Wendla ?
uh.. idk if she's coming back. she kind of broke onto the "silver screen" though, so maybe just for the SA movie whenever they make that.
I this before or after SA??

She looks like Rachel McAdams!!
beautiful voice
Yes, I agree, she needs to work on her head voice.
But Phoebe remains my favorite SA alum. :) :) :) I love reading all the Phoebe love here.
Sounds wonderful but it is true her transition from chest to head voice needs to be worked on a tad bit it may need to be projected but it shouldn't be flat. Don't get me wrong. this was very well done.
Lola from Bully? XD
yes
Yes

i loved this so much! my only issue is her head voice...meh
Phoebe is lovely, but it would be difficult to match the performance of this song by Kelli O'Hara on the Kerrigan-Lowdermilk "Our First Mistake" CD.
I saw Lea, and I thought she was an ok actress. AMAZING singer. Acting was average. Good enough for broadway, but I agreed with not nominating her for best actress.
SHES FROM SPRING AWAKENING, i actually didnt like her as isla but... shes amazing anyway.
Maybe if we hadn't skipped physics we'd realize that decay is actually chemistry and not physics...? :)
her higher register wasn't great, but i'm just saying- THIS IS AMAZING THOUGH!!!!
She's good, but acting needs a little more practice

ivy sanderfoot did this better...
not good.
