Jared Stinson is so cool. I’ve organized 11 comps. It’s tons of work and helps to have co-organizers. I like how organizing cubing comps has help me organize events in general - like my wedding.
I actually competed in my first competition sowega solvers 2023 and I had a great time and plan for another competition for the new year and this time this one will have 2x2 3x3 4x4 square one 5x5 7x7 and clock plus megaminx
I was in Nebraska when I organized my first one. So I went to Minnesota to see how competitions work. Then the Minnesota team came to Omaha to help me. It was great.
Thank you so much for making this! If you could go over how to get funding/sponsorships for the competition, and how to get the stackmat equipment, that would be great!
You’re welcome! I’m currently working on the outline for the next few videos (as much as I can between organizing comps lol) so what I said in “next time” may be a bit different but I will still cover everything I can. As far as for what you said, I’ll give a quick explanation: Funding is almost entirely registration fees, and usually you’ll get CubingUSA to help with that so nothing comes out of your pocket. I will also give an example of budgeting so you’ll know what you’re actually paying for. Sponsorships are pretty easy, especially if it’s theCubicle or ScS, you basically just reach out with your comp info and they’ll provide prize money based on the number of competitors. And stackmat equipment is provided by the delegates.
Three questions: I dont have friends who cube so who can I contact to be a co-organizer? Can I organize an event I have never competed in before? Can I use my school as a venue?
i really want to organize a comp in my home town, but not sure if there would be a decent amount of competitors. I would say I can expect a minimum of 10 people to show up. I just want to organize one comp in my hometown before moving out for college, I have a few friends who cube but the problem is the nearest cities which organize comps are 400 km + away, so idk if people from those cities will be willing to come
Certainly wouldn't hurt, when using CubingUSA they take the financial burden off you, but sometimes you may have to make purchases yourself (usually under $100) that can get reimbursed.
Simply that it’s a “speedcubing competition.” If they need more information direct them to the WCA website or give them a brief explanation of speedcubing. Slightly unrelated, but you can use CubingUSA’s non profit status to potentially get a discount, but you CANNOT use the WCA’s non profit status
If there is any information you would like to me to include, fix, or otherwise explain in more detail, please leave a constructive comment!

1. Your delegate may help you co-organize
2. Yes
3. Yes, if the school allows it
@@RomanWofford Thanks alot!!

I am under 13 but I have a friend that also is going to organize that’s over 13, does that work?
The age thing is more a of a recommendation than a requirement, really depends on maturity level and competition experience.
What do you mean by staffing?
tasks such as running and scrambling, or otherwise assisting in running the competition
Do you have to be financially stable to host a cubing competition
Certainly wouldn't hurt, when using CubingUSA they take the financial burden off you, but sometimes you may have to make purchases yourself (usually under $100) that can get reimbursed.
What should you say to the venue owner?

@@RomanWofford why cant you use WCA's non-profit status, doesn't that make it cheaper for everyone competing?
I think I am late to the video
