  • This video is a continuation from our video on exchanging DI/DO signals between a FANUC Robot and a Rockwell Automation ControlLogix PLC. Be sure to watch it, to understand how to configure I/O settings and modules.
I'm demonstrating the Enable U/I settings and remote start STYLE option in this video. There are others that can be used. This video is intended for educational purposes. Always consult a professional and follow all safety requirements.

Hello! Thank you for your effort and explanation, verry usefull! I am currently having a project with SIMPLE CRMA 16 Alocation, and Remote stard, only problem is i do not have all UOP assigned, there are only 4 UOP assigned (UOP1, 6, 9, and 10) with simple CRMA16! I saw that you have all the signals assigned. We use the HONDA CRMA58/59 Sockets! Can be that the No allocation is for "free allocation" and should connect also wires on it and mapped them according rack 48 slot 1 and pin number?

Hello Florin, you can use the FULL CRMA assignment that would map every signal to the CRMA 58/59. You can get a I/O mapping document from FANUC for every pin/point. Should be easy to assign it to Rack 48 for mapping to hardwired signals.

@@PSDettmerMATC Thank you for your promt response! I will try tomorrow to do the FULL CRMA assignment so that it enables STYLE/RSR/OTHER program start (simple crma16 doesn`t let me)

@@Florinm21 Excellent. You can find the full mapping and "pin-out" in the manual or call FANUC to send it to you.

@@PSDettmerMATC Solution was working also with simple CRMA 16 mapping! Is very important to declare the " PNS" program in correct base and name them properly, and setting the configuration that you provided in the video it is working perfectly! Thank you again!

Thanks, sir I hv a query related to welding robot for reset weld fault by logic. Fanuc robot and Nadex welding controller.
    Please share

Depends on how the NDAEX system is reset. The FANUC robot can be set up to receive a remote RESET signal by turning on UI[5] (if configured as SIMPLE CRMA 16) from the PLC. I suspect that the NADEX system just needs to receive a RESET signal from the PLC DO that it is mapped to.

    what means simple (CRMA16)?

hello thanks for your efforts make such awesome video. I tried it my self but ran in to a small problem, some of the signal in UI not getting ON (in TP signal status is not changing) even if I turn them ON from PLC. For example Enable signal UI 8. I could see TP error message showing "ENBL signal from UOP is lost" when I turn it off from PLC and error is cleared when I turn it ON. but the signal remains GREEN in TP no matter if I turn it ON or OFF. Its also happening for Start signal UI6 and UI18 (They remain RED even if I turn it on from PLC). Have you ever faced this problem ? Could you please suggest a solution?
Its also same for Program selection bits, UI 9 to UI16 they simply don't change color no matter ON or OFF from PLC, But I could call RSR programs using them but not STYLE programs. Thanks.

Hello Jithin, sorry for delayed feedback. It's normal that the ENBL signal goes away when the PLC is disconnected. The robot system relies on the PLC providing the U/I signals when enabled. The other signals might be an issue of double-mapping between the U/I & U/O signals and the DI/DO signals. You need to allocate a dedicated range for each set of signals.

@@PSDettmerMATC Thanks for your reply, I have done the mapping correctly, and I know that other engineers also facing the same problem with Roboguide. Could you let me know which verison of Roboguide and controller version that you have used?. It would be wonderful if you could do a video on how setup the same in Roboguide. Thanks.

Go to the Rockwell Automation PCDC and enter FANUC in the search box to find and download the .AOP for Fanuc Robots. compatibility.rockwellautomation.com/Pages/MultiProductSelector.aspx

@@PSDettmerMATC Thank you for the link. I have downloaded the Rockwell file. I am an instructor and trying to set up our Robot lab. I have ethernet connection from R-30 iB to an Ethernet switch which is connected to PLC, HMI, and PC. once the Rockwell file is installed how do you set up the plc. I have the robot settings configured as per your video. Thank you in advance for any information.
