there’s nothing wrong with having an alter ego. it can actually be and is normally healthy. this is her way of not letting the pageant’s and need to be perfect and pretty take over her whole life. this is her way of keeping the two worlds separate so she doesn’t feel the need to always be “on” and perfect. when she’s on stage, she can pretend to be someone else, it probably makes her feel more relaxed and takes some pressure off. it probably boosts her confidence to pretend to be someone else. she’s protecting her true self. and when she’s off stage she’s just Madison. there is no Tootie. she doesn’t need to be perfect. she can go play in the mud and be a kid. Madison is safe and protected since she isn’t Madison on stage. i don’t agree with pageants AT ALL the whole concept is sexist and toxic imo. and i especially don’t agree with young girls being out in them. i don’t agree with anyone at any age being forced into them. (but some people find them fun. that’s ok) and there’s a lot of toxic stuff happening here in this video BUT this kid having an alter ego isn’t one of those toxic things lol. a lot of you are overreacting and over dramatizing the fact that she simply has an alter ego.

As a pageant participant it is hard to deal with losses and such but it’s even worse when you win most of them because your parents pressure you to win more. I’ve participated in over 250 pageants and I currently own 236 crowns. I also play softball and have won over 20k from pageants. I don’t really enjoy the pageants but it makes my step mom very proud and it’s something I’m good at so I’ll keep doing it.
I really don’t suppose pageants nor do I think that the mother is doing a good job of supporting her child’s growth but you can’t deny ‘tootie’ is quite charismatic and does well on stage
