I followed a 90 day plan and actually read the bible cover to cover for the first time ever in 117 days!! A little over the 90 days, sure, but in that time i found a church, my husband and I got saved and later baptized and my hunger for God and the Word has only grown! I've already started the bible over again and i just don't want to stop!! I feel like i have finally found God and i have finally opened my heart and soul to our Lord and savior Jesus Christ!!

Since early January I have been in an Orthopedic brace due to a fractured wrist and torn soft tissues in my wrist and hand. I cannot hold the weight of items so I place a pillow on my lap and adjust how close I need my bible to read. I also read various bibles and versions within two different reading plans and reading books and chapters that I dive into because I heard good nuggets on the radio, in an email, or television pastor. I love to absorb His word for my life. Blessings❣️

For me, prayer has to be first and last on my list. I have to ask the Holy Spirit to guide me and show me what only He can in the Word. Pouring my heart out to Him every single time I open a Bible has completely changed my life. It is never boring and never a chore when He is right there with me! 💕

I made a reading plan where everyday I read 2 chapters from each of these 7 sections:
    1. Genesis - Deuteronomy (Pentateuch)
    2. Joshua - Esther (History of Israel)
    3. Job - Song of Solomon (Wisdom and Poetry)
    4. Isiah - Malachi (Prophets)
    5. Matthew - Acts (Gospels and Acts)
    6. Romans - Philemon (Paul's Letters)
    7. Hebrews - Revelation (other Epistles)
That's 13 or 14 chapters a day...it takes me an hour an a half. I love reading some of all that the bible has to offer everyday. If a person had less time they could read 1 chapter or a half a chapter if its long from each section but its good to get something from all parts of the bible everyday if you can.

This was nice. I loved hearing you say "NO!" to the whole concept that reading the Bible just 5 minutes or 15 minutes a day is somehow 'okay'. That's not enough. You know how I read the Bible through the first time? I had been reading fiction books like crazy. Even Stephen King books (prior to my salvation) for years. I read Stephen King books nearly as long as half the Bible without a single complaint or problem. So I decided I would read the Bible cover to cover without stopping (except for usual breaks, such as eating, sleeping, paying bills etc.) just like I would inhale a good novel. And guess what? I read it through cover to cover in 24 days! Cat is right. Writing down your completion of books of the Bible as you read is important. I just use a sticky note on my computer screen that I can write wherever I need to pick up the next time I read. That way, if I change up on translations, I always know where I'm at. Lots of good tips in here. And one more I'd like to add: a man I know who has been a pastor teaching the Bible for over 50 years now STILL has not plumbed all the depths of scripture. And he even teaches the Greek and Hebrew for parts so that we can understand. So it's not like you WILL ever understand every single line. Currently, after being saved 6 years, I just finished what I call "straight reading" meaning no study, just reading, 18 times cover to cover. I also have study times where I slow way down and have a Bible mentor I do a Bible study with on top of that. To me, I can never get enough of God's Word. So: Read the Bible straight through just once for the journey. If you don't understand everything you read in a novel you don't stop reading it, or get stuck. You just shrug, realize you don't get it, and move on. Don't be afraid to try that at least once in your Christian journey. It's an amazing overview of God's work and His amazing Grace and love for us. Okay, sorry for the long note. Just excited.

Ohhhh girl I'm sooooo proud of you. It's not easy to hear. It's even harder to admit to ourselves because of many of us we don't want to change we always say or tell ourselves well I'll start tomorrow or next week and we'll keep putting our own needs before God. The moment we start to put God first following Him and reading His Holy Book every single day no longer becomes a chore but instead something that we look forward too. It will become like breathe we can't go throughout our day without thinking about His Sacred Words. I will be keeping you in my prayers sister. Please keep pushing forward no matter how boring it may seem at first. It's your responsibility to make it exciting it's also your responsibility to build up your relationship with your Heavenly Father. Once you do ohhhh the Blessings you will receive is amazing. And not just material Blessings either. ✍📖🦋💕🙏

I can’t remember whose video it was, but I was watching another video about ‘How to read the Bible,’ a few months ago....and that person said, what they do is that they made out a chart out for themselves and instead of trying to read it all the way through in a year....they made it where they mark off each chapter of each book of the Bible.
So, if they read Genesis 1 one day...they mark off Genesis one...If they read something in Matthew the. Next day they mark off that chapter, until each book gets colored in.
I LOVED that idea, so I’m currently making my own chart.

Thanks sis - these are some great tips! I never stopped to think that in fact I do read faster with the smaller font, but it needs to be crisp and not too faint for my eyes. Good spacing. I always assumed that the larger print would be easier but after you mentioned it, I noticed that it was taking me longer and I was more bogged down with understanding the passage in it's entirety. So when I want to read slow, or in certain lighting, I will use the larger print from now on. I used to think that my Open Bible with the smaller comfort print was annoying me, but now when I'm trying to read more (and I put it away for a little while), I'm back to loving it! And the flag idea - wow, thank you sis - that's so simple and effective to not get distracted. Love it!!

One bite at a time. One chapter at a time, maybe 5 chapters, becomes the completion of one book... What makes me crazy is that I can’t stay within one translation. I jump from one to another to, “Where did I leave off last time?” If I read the OT in NKJ, I could say that I read it all in that version because I was reading 5 chapters in my pocket NT each day I worked.
You have such pretty Bibles! I’m still trying not to talk myself into buying another Bible. I have several and many are not in print anymore. 77 NASB and 84 NIV.

Bible plans don't work for me. I started in Luke, then I went to Mathew, Mark, and John. When I accomplished that, I began with Genesis, and chose a book of the New Testament. I read the Old Testament in order, but adding a Book of the New Testament along with it. I attend church, and right now we are reading first and second Peter. I just finished Daniel. I do more than read, I study and make notes so I don't forget anything. I have been a Christian for many years and have not finished reading the whole Bible, because I don't want to rush thru and not remember what I am reading. I think everyone should read and study at their own pace, that way there is NO pressure to get thru the Bible. I am currently using my NKJV Open Bible. ♥️♥️♥️
I prefer to read a 9pt line matched, that way I am not distracted by bleed thru. Great video Cat!
