I'm gay. I grew up Mormon , then left the church when I came out. I believe in God. When I look at the world and the people in the world I see diversity and beauty that can only come from divinity. I know in my soul God made me the way he did for a reason, and that to ignore who I am would be an affront to him. I've been exploring different religions, everything from old Hinduism to modern pagan paths. So far, the Episcopal Church resonates the most with me. I still have a lot of questions, but I believe through his sacrifice, Christ exemplified the highest love there is: unconditional love. Once things become safer, I look forward to visiting my local Episcopal Church and learning more.
Hi Nate! I hope you were able to continue going to the Episcopalian church. I'm a catholic, but I've realized that if I proclaim to be an ally, to be a feminist, to believe that God love and accepts all of us, then I cannot continue in a church that is not inclusive. I'm going this weekend to an Episcopalian mass
For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until her vindication goes forth as brightness, and her salvation as a burning torch. Thank you Fr.Jason for not keeping silent for not taking rest. You're an inspiration.
This sermon means a lot to me. It encourages me to think more broadly and to see everyone with a more loving heart. I'll be rewatching this sermon more than once, I am sure.
@@corym8358 He was baptized in the church, became an acolyte, his mother joined the choir, and church women said we would like him to go to the church school with their children, so we applied for the 6th grade, and he was rejected, saying he was a behavior problem. I don't know how he could be before being in the school, but if true don't you offer some kind of help? The worse part was the silence, no one said they were sorry he was rejected, I believe it was because they knew why. I later asked one of his teachers, a white male. and his answer was we still have racism. I did get a call from the rector, not the headmaster, saying it wasn't because he was black. Again, he didn't say he was sorry he didn't get in, just don't badmouth the parish, I later send an Email with Matt 18: 6, then received a nice letter saying to change my membership. I love the Episcopal Church and want him confirmed, but don't dare risk him again. The good news that in his current school he is getting all kinds of awards. The principal just took him out for lunch the other day. To be estranged from the church and being afraid to take a grandchild to church is not pleasant. Where is the Episcopal Church welcomes you for him? Pax Christi.
Unconditional love for everybody, but baptism for members of the church. This issue is coming up at general convention. Baptism is not a punishment, it is a requirement - not to be confused with one another... 💦
Wow! I was so discouraged when I read the news about the decision from Canterbury but after hearing Bishop Curry's response and this wonderful message from Father Jason, I am so thankful for our church and the opportunity to show God's love in action. Amen!
To me, the essence of Christianity is expressed succinctly in three words: "God is love." If you stray from that, you are straying from God. If you find yourself filled with anything else but "love," then it really doesn't matter how much you pray, how many times you call Jesus "Lord," or how sure you are that you are "born again," you simply are NOT of God. A true Christian should be able to see Christ in every soul, including those who don't even believe in Christ.
Father, Father, Father... I know you really love these gay and lesbian teens and want them to love God and the Church, because He loves them. And from what I heard on your Mary talk you sound very sensible. Yeah, you should pray to the saints. But surely you know Church History better than I do. Surely you know what Saint Paul and the Church Fathers had to say about homosexual acts, and about marriage, and about children. You should know better than me that... well, you're not being inclusive. God loves you, and God loves the homosexuals. Bar none. And because he loves you and them, He gave you the priesthood so you could instruct them in the faith - in matters of faith, such as praying to the saints, but also morals. But you're excluding homosexuals from the Kingdom of God and from His benevolent fellowship because you will not be a prophet and tell them of their sins, and encourage them to repentance. Never forget the love God has for these people. And because you love them, you've got to tell them the truth. Love. Doesn't. Lie.
@freddieblue6351 "Go to another denomination", you know that's really not fair. There is no other Anglican denomination. Sure, there are split off groups, but you know that our diocesan polity means that I can't just get up and go to an ACNA church. There are none in this diocese, I would have to move hundreds of miles away. Moreover, this is a big tent church, which is supposed to tolerate a plurality of doctrines. There has to be a place for traditionalists. Lastly, why shouldn't that logic be turned on you? I think the episcopal church should be welcoming to Anglicans first and foremost. There's plenty of other progressive denominations. I do worry that most new converts to the episcopal church are coming for the politics and not because they are interested in the Anglican heritage.
They were all in, absolutely, but don’t forget that he called people to repentance. He’s leaving out some important stuff and that’s lying. Read it yourself people.
C G that’s interesting but I think you’re looking for something that isn’t there. Eunuchs were generally castrated males as I understand it and there’s no special category of sexuality described for them, Philips exchange with the Ethiopian eunuch isn’t about gender identity - it’s only about Jesus. How fantastic. I can hardly remember what the video was about anymore 😀
@@AndyCan it is harder to write a short sermon than a long one. Some detailes do get left out, but it isn't lying People will not remember everything because they loose interest quickly.
Greatest false teaching in church is unconditional love of God. God's love everlasting but not unconditional. John. 15 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. There is a big IF. If you don't obey, God sends you to hell. God's love is not for those who continue in sins.
Unless you're born again, you cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven. Yes, God is love, but He's also a God of justice. Repent and get saved. Romans 3:23 Romans 6:23 Romans 5:8 Romans 10:9-10.
I used to believe like you do, that GOD is ready to strike me down for any infraction. He is the GOD of justice and I was not taught _when we are merciful, GOD will judge us with mercy,_ "for mercy triumphs over judgement". Ask THE HOLY SPIRIT to teach you the parable of the sheep and goats. Look at who was being merciful and who was not. Mercy is way more important than justice on it's own. People sin, so mercy must be given to all those who ask. I have come to believe the more merciful we are, the less we are judged.
