Jackson is correct. Pterodactyls are not dinosaurs. Pterosauromorpha and Dinosauromorpha are separate clades of archosaurs, and archosaurs include crocodiles and extant birds, which are themselves two separate clades. So comparing Pterosaurs to Dinosaurs is a lot like comparing birds to crocodiles. They each have a near common ancestor but it IS a misconception that one is more ancestral than the other. It's a lot like comparing insects (Insecta) and spiders (Arachnida) but technically they are also cousins and not ancestral. There are also major physiological differences between these groups of animals so asserting they are ancestral is really thinking about this in a very elementary and ideological way, very shallow.

I had the same thought. SCP has changed from what it used to be to a certain extent, but the core is still there. There are still countless stories that are compelling and dread-inducing, and the quality control has gone up in recent years too.
As a verified dinosaur-enthusiast, Charlie's feelings about dinosaurs hurt me to my very soul. I am willing to forgive but I will never forget.

The reason why Nessie seems to have fallen out of popularity compared to most other cryptids is because of the mountains of contradicting evidence against its existence, such as Loch Ness having only existed for 10,000 years, plesiosaurs not having the ability to bend their necks in a way that resemble Nessie, and the complete lack of food that a megafauna would need to survive.
Also Jackson is correct, Mothman is related to a bridge collapse in Point Pleasant at the end of 1967. And according to folklore, Goatman has the ability to hypnotize anyone he chooses.
I'm a huge fan of cryptozoology, so this is the only time I can flex on this useless knowledge.

Dinosaurs are cooler now with the advent of more creative fossil reconstructions.
Before, dinosaurs were always seen as green or brown, super skinny with skin on the bones, with no feathers, crests, skin flaps, fur, etc. Now, dinosaurs are more realistic and creative!
I’m sorry, but have you seen some earlier fossil reconstructions? They’re the most bizarre and strange things I’ve ever seen and I love them
Frankly there’s something about earlier depictions of Dinosaurs that I strangely really like, they were far more alien to me and their world was grim, primal, savage and just as alien.
Honestly, I don't care about creativity. I just want a time machine or real resurrection cloning to see what they actually were like. Too many reconstructions are based on a single friggin' tooth or bone.

I get that you guys probably haven't gotten the concept of evolution through to your brains yet, but labels like Dinosaur are used to denote relation ship to eachother not how closely they were in time or how big they were. and Dinosaurs were Archosaurs including crocodilians and pterosaurs.
Edit: that was kind of agro of me, but I think that its such an easy subject to research, so I find it sad when the average person has no concept of these animals which are so culturally pervasive.

@@shadow-squid4872 Well, it is a long and complicated story, but I'll try to summarize it as best as I can. Sorry if it's a rambling mess. Anyway, it's hard to pinpoint where it all started, but I'll cut to around the end of the beginning/middle of the situation. After SCP-3999 was made, one of the more popular tastes of Meta, moderator and author cults of personality began spiraling out of control. I wont point the finger at any one person, but from what I've seen an author known as DJKaktus has one of the worst. He's written a lot of good articles, 3999 for instance, but to many he can do no wrong. This issue isn't specific to him, however.
Then, there was a large influx of Meta SCP articles that came after 3999 for the most part, and with that came power escalation of anomalies to the point where you can hardly find any Safe Class SCPs anymore. SCPs these days also tend to be over explained and with that over explanation they lose much of what makes SCPs SCPs. They're anomalies, and if they even have a backstory it is supposed to be quite vague.
The mods, from what I have seen, seem to not have learned from the mistakes of the past and continue making the same mistakes, tearing down much of what the senior staff of the wiki built.
And then there is the terrible OCs thing. The last contest I saw on there before I left never to return was of a bunch of authors putting together their OCs or some shit... basically, that was the last straw. I'm done here, this is genuinely making me upset. do with this information what you will, I just presented it from my POV, which may be slightly biased at some points.

I still visit the website frequently and the staff still heavily enforce quality control, it’s just that it seems that as long as a decent concept is there and that it’s well-written is what seems to be the main criteria to have it posted. I perfectly understand your points though, it’s nice for an SCP to have a story but the mystery is what made them so intriguing, it’s as if SCP-096 was given a backstory of something like being a scientist who was self-conscious about being judged based on his looks and went insane, sure it may be a interesting read, but it almost entirely ruins the terror factor from its mystery.
I went about 15ish years without vomiting, and then last year I caught a stomach bug and power washed my sink with vomit. Worst experience I've had with being sick.
