Elizabeth, the attendant of the Velvet room. She is super powerful in the RPG, but in the Persona fighting game... unfortunately, she was generally considered to be the worst character. Why?

Elizabeth is bottom tier. Also if she has enough meter she can literally kill you in a single touch

At full hp she only needs like 30 if she didn't use any skills that use SP cuz she can hit you > Omb > hit you more for 50 SP > mind charge and then she gets her hama combo

@@Sythgirla with 10 seconds or less left in the round. Not to mention Hama just hits instead of priming and hitting after setup so...no. She doesn't. Still a dope character but not really any practical application of her insta-kill moves anymore as you have to run the clock all the way down then hit them

Is there any ArcSys low tier that *cannot* be summarized as "yeah, they're horrible, but if you're caught lacking you f*cking die"?
Getting hit by Anji’s Rin and still doing 50%+ meterless damage… arcsys plz buff it’s so bad
I don't know much about their other franchises, but I think this is a major factor in what makes Guilty Gear's disparate cast often feel pretty fair: some might be better than others overall, but any of them can and will happily destroy you if given the chance.

Elizabeth got trapped in a jungle gym. Consistency isn’t exactly her strong suit
I can only think of Arksys when it comes to the "super strong IDGAF" characters. Granted it's because I don't remember any other who when knocked down have an amused/annoyed looked on their face (Think Elizabeth, Rachel, Slayer, and Nago).

Soooo I've been loving Elizabeth as a character for like, what, 16 years now? Persona 3 being my favorite game and Elizabeth being my favorite character and one of the strongest character overall in the story (and the funnest secret boss ever, paired with SMTVs Demifiend probably), it's kinda sad she's so terrible in Persona 4 Arena, but hey i still play only her in arena cause I have ONE game where she is actually playable and I'm not missing the chance to play her.
Stay strong boys and play your favorites no matter what, it will pay off eventually

Just started p4A as my first real fighting game (that isn't smash) and Elizabeth is my best character and is so much fun lol

To be fair, a Jigglypuff ditto is also the worst matchup in her game. Not because it's not 50/50, but because it's the most boring thing you can watch, they can't combo each other because you can't combo her in general and they can also stall indefinitely.

I’m surprised you first thought of Beerus when thinking of “super powerful characters who don’t give a fuck”, given the overwhelming abundance of characters in FighterZ who are like that.
In fact, I haven’t really heard of anyone focus talk about Beerus for the longest time now beyond people asking for buffs. What makes him so powerful in your mind?
I thought he was talking about character-wise, as in the story. Slayer isn't far and away the best mechanically, but in canon he's leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of the cast.
That’s true actually, I didn’t think of it like that. Though I’m sure power scalers would have a word in regards to how strong Beerus actually is anymore compared to some of the newer villains/protagonist power-ups
@@ShjadeNexayre Slayer isn't leaps abounds ahead of Sol, Happy Chaos, I-no or Axl, he is definitely weaker than them.

Margaret has a super sick design, but she barely ever says anything interesting, ngl, she is the most bland attendant I saw in the games I played.

I think this thread made me realize that there's actually 2 components that make a character interesting, and I was missing perspective on the second.
I was looking through the lens of how interesting a character was in a vacuum, comparing their base motivations, depth, characterization which I do feel that Margaret was better at.
Others here have rightfully pointed out that interesting characters can be measured by how intertwined they are with the story, Elizabeth becomes far stronger and more important as the story goes.
They're both good points and I may have just forgotten the end of P3, it's been a long time and Golden's still fresh from the steam playthrough.
Still hoping for a P5A because I never figured out how the new girl is related to the other 2
@@Living_Target I assume by new girl you mean Lavenza. There isn't really much to her other than that she's the youngest sister of the assistants.

She's just as bad in BBTAG for mostly the same reasons, but it's for the greater good in that game. Her advantageous situations in that game are among the best as it enables genuine uninteractable setplay in the corner for her partner through Mahamaon, but she has debatably the worst neutral in the game out of cast of like 50+ characters. Can't have these types of characters being decent, let alone good. Neutral must prevail.

Well that's not fair now is it? While I do agree characters need some weakness having good setplay in the corner no matter how good doesn't matter if you can barely achieve that, if a character works like that their probably undoubtedly low tier. Look at poor Bedman, most grapplers and other corner oki based characters.
@@christianlayne2824 Modern Japanese devs are (unfortunately) extremely good at making characters with incredibly strong reward while simultaneously lacking the ability to have any say in neutral (see: T7, DBFZ, SFV, STRIVE, ect.). These types of character designs are frustrating to play as because you constantly feel like you have no say in how the match is played , and are stressful to play against because you can't guarantee you'll play perfectly to not give them a chance to get started no matter how weak their neutral is. Neither player is having fun. It's just poor game design in general.
Elizabeth in BBTAG is a unique case of this "archetype", because her conversion ability with 5A/ j.A is so inconsistent for how much risk that's tied to using them that you'll only ever see her at her best if you genuinely go out of your way to give her a chance to clean hit. She's frustrating to play as, and you just feel kinda bad for the other player when you play against her if she's solo. Her only saving grace is that it's a tag game.
