They dont do it by themselves, they buy those machines from suppliers.
i've worked on this robots for swiss Laufen Bathrooms many years. The manufacturer is ABB (Asea Brown Boveri). Some of our ABB robots were oldtimers from the early 80s but worked until the end 2020. only the use with floppy discs was a bit difficult with the new windows 10 systems haha

It's staggering how far engines have come in the last 30 years. I remember diesels as being terrible in cars but now? Incredibly efficient and powerful. A disgrace that governments want rid of diesel power in favour of electricity (which has to come from somewhere..)

Nobody wants to get rid of diesel because they can NOT get rid of it. They want to get rid of petrol engines. A few days ago Audi announced that the R8 V10 is going completely electric from 2020. That 2020 model will be their last supercar with petrol. However most of the new cars in 2019 is completely diesel or hybrid diesel becuase it's way more economical. Those who say diesel is more harmful than petrol engine they probably have never seen an engine yet so they do not have the slightest idea about what tech is integrated to a diesel engine just to reduce emission. There's a reason every last trucks have diesel engine. This can not be defeated. Not even in in 40 years. Petrol engine will be the first one that disappears from Earth because it's way more expensive to maintain it's network.

еслиб было качество тогда и отваевать можно а так у нас просто отсталая страна гадков так на 40 не меньше да и штампуют каличеством а не качеством хоть сейчас и не 2 мировая чтоб их штамповать как танк т 34 чтоб задовить каличеством
@@JCB422 при большом масштабе производства, автоматизация углубляться от чего повышается качество. Главное знать куда продать потом.

Just a reminder that BMW only makes cars to make money, nothing else. It's essentially a huge robotised motoring machine processing plant. There's no romance about it. They employ a lot of human overseers but their primary objective is to make enough money on each vehicle to provide incomes for everybody from the office cleaners to the showroom sales staff and to pay the shareholders and in the process, they use incalculable amounts of metals, minerals, chemicals and water. You then pay for the 'privilege' of owning one of their cars AND maintaining the things and if it's an N47 engine (11:12 engine stamp; 17:20 the dreaded timing chain) that's a very dubious honour!

Not really I mean there were tons of employees like the ones near the end no dog either.

I throughly enjoy these kinds of "how-its made" from the factory! To bad we in the states can no longer get the fine 6 cylinder diesels since BMW does not allow in our market, anymore anyway...
And what is "your" market in this context? BMW has announced X2, X6 and 740Ld will be available with diesel engine from 2019.
In the United States.. We no longer get the fine in-line 6 cylinders as the rest of the world market! I used to own a 3 series w/the fabulous straight 6 diesel...No longer possible here, BMW does not have ANY diesels in the U.S. market for the 2019 M.Y.@@sgeb4996

17:00 whoever designed the timing chain and the flywheel/gearbox assembly to same side and not to the front, should take a hard look at themselves in the mirror.
I agree with you Peter P i am a mechanic and have done a few timing chains on this engine design, no choice but to remove the engine to do the job comfortably.
It's one of the reasons bmw engines break soo much and too soon, the timing chain cannot be on the hotter side of the engine, besides the maintenance issue,
Come on, look how easy it is done at the motor factory. Just buy yourself a new car whenever your existing one breaks down!
looking at YOU Volkswagen.... Source: audi 4.2 v8 which requires 70k service interval on chain guides... you guessed it: theyre behind the engine...

In the final stage of procurement *engine block; in a production line a human would surly oversee batch numbers, serial numbers- too see imperfections or serious defaults in building a engine block.
My point being- so much robotic movement here, handcraftmanship is evidently missing here more to go wrong on a big scale.
Eg; “ immediate vehicle recall on cars made on “ 00/00/2045 fault find on harmonic balancer.
Or serious over tightening of rocker cover bolts by automotive machinery.
Everything is made in such haste- no more care given, this up- sets me.

I have one of these 2lt turbo diesels in 190 BHP form, these engines did have timing chain issues at one time but have now sorted it out, I agree with some of the comments on here about positioning the chain at the rear of the engine because of the costs of replacement of that chain, having said that this engine has brilliant performance with outstanding fuel economy and power, it is probably the best 2ltr diesel around at the moment, time will tell about the reliability of the chains and the costs of replacement but what an engine it is.
Yes, it is one heck of an engine but, as with anything bmw, comes with a cost, low reliability, and it has 170hp, not 190. I own a repair shop and we refuse to repair bmw's, we change a timing chain on a merc or a timing belt on a psa in less than 2 hours with full service (rings, pumps, idlers and whatnot), it takes 16 hours to change a timing chain on this engines, requires moving the engine out, transmission and most of the time, the engine is shot.
tunespt, Hi mine is the latest twin turbo power 2ltr 189 BHP engine which when chipped will go to 235 BHP which is pretty good for a 2ltr and will still do over 55 mpg on a run. I agree that timing chain at the rear of the engine is a pain in the arse when it needs replacing but we have a lad that just removes the gearbox to get access to it, we buy and sell BMWs all the time and have done for over 20years, we find the 3 litre engine in petrol or diesel is bomb proof if the oils are changed regularly, in all honesty we have had very little trouble with the 2litre engines and have seen them do over 200,000 miles without issues. Probably the best 4 cylinder diesel is the Merc 2-2 Sprinter engine which we've seen do over 400,000 miles no problem if looked after.

@@tunespt you dont have to remove the engine to repair the timing chain. It is sufficient to remove the transmission. At least for the N47 and most likely also for the B47 in this video

This was the N47 engine which had a lot of camchain problems, but other than this engine bmw gets a bad reputation when they dont deserve it. Take care of your vehicle and it will be reliable for a long time. BMW dealers are expensive yes, but parts are not that expensive. I drive a BMW 7-series and I'm not a rich man, I just take care and maintain my car myself and the parts are no big cost.
