- UPDATE: Tropical Storm Hermine has formed off the coast of Africa. We are still tracking Hurricane Fiona and Tropical Depression Nine which is likely to become Tropical Storm Ian soon.

Florida resident here...if it hits us, it hits us. Just be prepared and for the love of God, don't freak out. Hurricanes happen and we can't stop them. So just sit back, relax, and let it happen...

@@Lori5564 when hurricane Wilma hit us in 05, all the models had it coming straight across the atlantic. Then suddenly it started turning North then back to the west then South and then it made a complete circle and came back towards the east and hit us. Whether people's models are not very reliable other than just to say hey this is where we think it's going to go.
Been following Tim for the last five years; he is definitely the best weather forecaster. The 🐐 Pandijas.

Please be aware to prepare in advance. Many Floridians were feeling blessed and became a bit overjoyed with the fact that they were spared by Hurricane Fiona. The truth is what goes around comes around. This is the Hurricane season and we need to work together as one.

I got hit hard in Canso NS, we saw 176 KLM wind and 155 mm rain, will be without power till after Oct 1 they said, no deaths, but what a mess to clean up 🥵😖
GFS is usually inaccurate but I agree with it for once I think it's right but if it hits Tampa they will see a lot more than 2-4 inches but like you said it all depends how fast or how slow the storm moves through
Yes, a lot of attention paid to to the storm category, but if it moves fast vs slow, that may have more impacts. Fast hurricane is probably better than a slow tropical storm.

Bottled water, canned foods, prescription medications, first aid supplies, extra oxygen tanks for those who are oxygen dependent for medical reasons, pet foods, batteries, flashlights, waterproof containers for clothes and medications, propane, gasoline, diesel fuel, plywood,nails-screws, sandbags, water purification tablets,the list is endless depending on a given situation, I work at a retail grocery chain, and today, water was flying off the shelves faster that it could be stocked, I'm sure tomorrow canned foods will be getting scarce, already the gas pumps were crowded when I got off of work at 9:30pm tonight on 9/23/2022, a catagory 3 was predicted for Florida, earlier today, chances are it will be higher,In strength,by tomorrow.

A weaker storm produces more rain meanwhile a stronger strom doesn't produce as much rain but wind

The latest center track shifted slightly closer to Tampa and all of Florida is in the cone. Looks like somewhere between Miami to Panama city Florida is at risk and most likely direct hit is in or around Tampa between about Sarasota to about Newport Richie with Tampa being in the middle hitting around wendsday or Thursday and cutting across the state potentially hitting cities like orlando Kissimmee st cloud lakeland and winter haven to name a few. The name will be Ian probably getting a name tonight or tomorrow morning. It will likely hit as a catagory 3 4 or maybe even 5 hurricane. Almost all of Florida will likely feel some extent of the effects. Lives will be lost and billions of dollars of damage to homes businesses infrastructure and landscaping will enebidibly acur. How do I know? I'm a Florida native and been through this many times. it's part of life here. I'm prepared but unfortunately many new comers have no clue what they are in for.

I don't wish hermine on anyone; lords knows i've experienced more than my fair share of hurricanes, tropical storms & tropical depressions in my life!! But being from louisiana & now living in the htown metro, i say better florida than texas!! Even though we have 2 more invest areas coming behind hermine from the african continent. August to october, we are in the hurricane season redzone people!! PREPARE NOW!!
This storm will make land fall more northward towards the Tampa area based on the Atlantic High Pressure area.
Bad omen here, "i" named storms are historically notorious for major hurricanes. Most of there names are retired. Ian could be next.

Lived here for 59yrs, I'm 61, and I've seen turn away, die before they get here...the list is endless. I have one room that is a mess because there is a leak from the roof and ceiling, I had to keep it that way during the whole pandemic because that's when it started, naturally. I was making arrangements to get it fix but with all this rain, roofers had to wait. At least it's a room I haven't used in about 10yrs and nothing in there but crap to be thrown out, I always keep the doors closed shut tight because of the mold, now. It's going to be raining in there really hard. 😐😑😕.
