Hello Ownage Pranksters! Just wanted to THANK YOU for the best day in a long time. I found this channel looking for something funny to de-stress a bit & boy did it work! My brother is in hospital w chemotherapy, blood clots near heart & is really ill & sad, & after watching about 3 videos, he was always big phone prankster himself, I called him & put my phone on speaker & played the calls on computer while he lay in the hospital bed, & he LAUGHED SO HARD he almost popped out his IV! To make it clear for you guys who don't live in the UK:
- This guy here is called a "chav" - a term mostly used for white boys in the lower-class who tries too hard to be swag; is usually seen pathetically trying to imitate the style of black hip hop culture, and uses too much slang. In other words, a chav is the English version of a "wigga". They usually hang out in their own little "gang" and spend a lot of time waving their knives around and selling weed because they think it makes them look like bad boys.
- Any guy who is a drug-dealer and most likely in a gang is usually called a "roadman".
- "Oh my days" is just another way of saying "oh my god". It's not exactly slang, since it isn't exactly an informal term.
- There is no Hood in London; people like this guy just say that to make themselves sound cool. However, there are ghetto areas, which is basically an area where there is distribution of weed and gang crime. Because of gun restriction laws, almost all gang crime are with knives or other melee weapons. Nobody calls it The Hood. EDIT: It's not classified as a Hood because it doesn't have mass gang crime and distribution of class A drugs, prostitution rings, gun murders, drug wars, or grand theft auto. Until the "ends" (London slang for ghetto areas) are as bad as that, it will never be classified as The Hood.
- London slang is mostly influenced by Jamaican slang (there have been lots of Caribbean people ever since they came to help out in WW2). That's why you might hear some one say pronounce words like "things" as "tings" and say stuff like "mandem". It's also another reason why London slang sounds quite stupid and forced when you hear the typical white Londoner speak that way.
