To achieve peace, all leaders must work to calm the situation. Thanks to the vacuum created due to stale peace negotiations for a permanent solution creating the Palestinian state, terrorism can rise as hope for the people (when in fact it's a disaster). On the Israeli side, extreme leaders want the land (west-bank and Gaza) without the people so they create a harsh way of living for the Palestinians to push them to leave and then place settlements, and after a few years annexing the land to become part of Israel.
So I personally get why the Palestinians don't want to see Israel exist, they have no hope, they only see the bad side of Israel with nothing else, so what should we expect?

To be fair, the Vatican isn't for Christians. The Vatican is for Catholics. Our holy land as Christians is also Jerusalem.
