Good call! S-Layer is such a good sound design tool. Rolodex is good fun too. Shame that the Twisted Tools site is pretty much out of action nowadays...
Thanks for keeping us posted about REAKTOR. It's easy to get lost in today's plugins whilst forgetting the power of Reaktor ensembles for music and sound design. Some even forget they have it in a Komplete bundle.
Part of me thinks that Native Instruments has deliberately buried it. So much of the content in the User Library is actually better than their paid-for plugins. Buy Reaktor once (no subscription...) and you're sorted. Like you say, it's just SO powerful and flexible.
Thanks mate ,I got a folder 15gb of reaktor stuff and found a new one today I want to get the new tim excile "scapeshift" but it 50 quid i ain't got spare at the moment ,cool video tho✌️
Native Instruments has put Reaktor into purely maintenance mode for the last few years, so no updates are coming except to ensure it works on new operating system updates. The company is now owned by a venture capital company now, and there's a lot of major concern in the Reaktor community that it could be discontinued. If you're into Reaktor now is the time to support it!
Valid concerns, I would say. A VC is not going to see Reaktor as much of a cash cow, as customers can buy it once and then have a lifetime of fun in the User Library and create their own stuff. The exact opposite of the awful subscription model that companies push to keep milking the cash cow. I do prefer the "old" Native Instrument when they were creating things like Skanner, Molekular, Form etc. But, c'est la vie.
@X3Naudio indeed, they used to be awesome hey. The good news imo is at this stage NI has so many products that need Reaktor to run they seem to be at a loss on how to move ahead without losing a good chunk of their synthesizer line ha ha
Nice video Cool synths Btw did you see the new generative scapeshift reactor instrument by Tim Exile ? It’s very nice and you have a lot of control over the sound
I remember Kyma too. Wasn't it prohibitively expensive? I recall a rumour that Richard James used is back in the day. Not sure how true that was, though.
Just looked up Tau. Lol… morphing has been available on Windows and Mac for years now. There is literally nothing Windows and Mac can’t do at this point. Again, Kyma has amazing custom hardware that ‘only’ runs music and isn’t constrained by the bloated and cumbersom OSs of our modern era. In the end it’s not worth it though - completely overpriced because they can’t sell much of it, and their DAW is a joke of epic proportions and looks like it’s from 1995. Garbage sequencer of the highest caliber. Wild sounds, custom and ultra fast hardware… bested by a custom Windows or Mac install any day of the week. It’s basically niche for studios with more money than they know what to do with.
@XrexO-c3y @ghfjfghjasdfasdf Yep its the classic confusion of people not really knowing the system :) It's not simple morphing, and it is unique in Kyma. (which is what you were asking for) Also they never had a "daw". The timeline is not that. You are obviously misinformed, probably you've never even used the system, let alone use it extensively enough to aquire the knowledfe to make those assesments. For sure Kyma is not essential in 2025 any more that it was in late 90's, you can do with a copy of supercollider and a laptop working on that systems flaws and qualities. But that is a different dscussion. As for niche studio's with money affording one. That's pretty bullshit. A pacamara system costs no more than 6-7 eurorack modules and a case, or three or four "good" pedals. And those things are ubiquitous. So please...The reason Kyma is not more available , is that a) it is not advertised b) dicking around withi it is not enough to become proficient. Which is the same reason why free programs like csound, pd, supercollider are also not being used.. Btw Kyma returning to the video, kyma is updatet a lot more often than reaktor, and that says a lot.
Cute deleting your post, there… reinstated it for you. 😙 Sorry to burst your bubble, again… Windows can do anything Kyma can do, and at a fraction of the cost. Kyma’s “timeline” or whatever pathetic and vastly outdated attempt at having a sequencer… is a joke on everyone who chooses to use it, imo. There are SO many killer plugins for Windows that do morphing, lol… Kyma lost the edge on that tech long ago. GG, toodles.
sorry this question might sound dumb but i really don´t know how i get them started inside machine i downloaded em and i can start them on their own but in maschine(3) i cant find em to you this might sound nooby indeed it is ;) woul aprecciate some help
@@X3Naudio thx for quick response i just always started reaktor straight out of maschine libary and didn`t find it by itself there i only got the presets, went down the normal way starting it (like vital) as an vst and finaly found it (file>open>...) thx a lot
Thanks for the comment and sorry to have left you wanting. I do go through the better Migraine Marlene and Ruidoz presets without talking, so that you get a solid idea of what each ensemble is capable of. It's a lot easier to do a preset showcase without talking, but I like to educate potential users on how to get sounds out of the ensembles too.
What's your favourite Reaktor synth/effect and why?
🙂
Everything Twisted Tools makes is wonderful. S-Layer has been my favorite for years and years
Good call! S-Layer is such a good sound design tool. Rolodex is good fun too. Shame that the Twisted Tools site is pretty much out of action nowadays...
Ultraloop, you can drop any samples in it, and then get awesome glitchy (or not glitchy) loops, just clicking "random" button.
I don't have that Twisted Tools toy. Would like to get it, but will buy Tim Exile's Shapeshift first, as that thing is mind-blowingly good.
Whoosh by Tonsturm, Evil Twin by Soundmorph, S-Layer by TT. Aaaand Drone-E!!!!

@ I agree. the community gave Reaktor a near endless lifespan, I wish NI gave it some more love.
There's still some excellent new creations being added to the library regularly, so it's far from dead. Thankfully!
Thanks for giving Blinksonic some light. They've been around for a long time!
Yeah. Fantastic creations. I own most of them, but still can't get my head around Cataliz - that thing's a monster!

Thanks. Sounds like me - a massive folder full of great Reaktor stuff.
Scapeshift is at the top of my list of things to buy. Looks quite wonderful.
Sounds great! Shame Reaktor hasn't been updated for a while....
Yeah, but it's rock solid at version 6.5 Would LOVE to see resizable GUIs to bring it a bit more up to date as a minimum.

I’d subscribe if you did a regular series exploring all of the entries in the reactor user library! Let the good bad and ugly show themselves. Thanks!
Yeah, that's in the works. The only issue is that there's so many creations in the User Library to pick from :)
Thanks for this - new sub👍
Thanks for the sub! I appreciate that and glad you like the video :)

Thanks!. Yes, I have my eyes on that. It looks absolutely mind-blowing. Will buy when I've saved enough pennies :)
I remember when Kyma was capable of unique things… 20+ years ago.
Lol, time happened and Kyma fell behind.
I remember Kyma too. Wasn't it prohibitively expensive? I recall a rumour that Richard James used is back in the day. Not sure how true that was, though.
@@X3Naudio perhaps he useδ kyma, i believe a number of warp artists had, but i am pretty certain he used cdp which is now free :)

You'll need to load Reaktor as an instrument in Maschine 3 and then load the downloaded ensembles into Reaktor.

I landed here because I wanted to hear how they sound, not you explaining them (or have clear separate no-talk sections)
