Personally I find this version of song superior to the actual Iron Maiden album version. The echo kinda does Paul Di'Anno's voice justice and the additional guitar solo is awesome.
One thing that I never figured out is that I heard that Maiden had to hold off on "Wrathchild" until the second album because it was on this compilation but "Sanctuary" made it on the debut LP. No comparison IMP as far as "Wrathchild" being a stronger tune, so why wait on it?
but paul was the bigining i think if he was stay in iron maiden they were sucsesful as well but i totaly respect bruce he has the great voice of metal along with dio and rob helford and well i like rock as well so klaus maine of scorpions and Ian gillen
They probably wouldn't have changed as much had dianno not left. Was also partially due to Clive leaving, had he stayed I bet it would have kept some of that style.there. when a bands lineup more less is entirely changed out, the band changes.
I downloaded this version. The Mp3 compression of this youtube stuff is awfull - irrespectfull. There is a discographia with that one perfectly originally tuned on the internet somewhere.
See you on the other Side, dear Paul! Your work with Maiden was something else and second to none. R.I.P. my friend!

I'm already agreeing
For me it's how heavy drum sounds here. IM always had the problem with mixing drums, making them sound softer than they should be.
I love the raw approach.
Concordo!!
right; because the Will Malone bloke who produced the first album butchered the edgy side of the band. Martin Birch galvanized the true Maiden sound.
RIP Paul Di'anno
The solo from 1:18 til 1:36 is without question Tony Parsons. Followed by Dave for the rest of the song.
Something on this first solo reminds me of Def Leppard's debut album, I think Tony would feel at home playing with them at the time
I like how the "warhorse of steel" was represented on the cover art...whether it was intentional or not.
Makes sense too, as Maiden was the only band on the compilation with two tracks instead of one.
wasn’t Mr Derek Riggs however
@@chaosapiant makes sense; the better band by a long margin
This version has my favourite Sanctuary solo.
Yeah.
@TheAtraxRobustus
close agree, though Di'Anno has done amazing stuff
Remember Tomorrow, Killers, Purgatory, . . .
i love the guitar solos, almost sounds ghostly the way the amps echo
Huzur içinde uyu Paul...
Paul and clive...masters.....💪
It's Doug Sampson who plays drums, no Clive
Great great performance !!
So punky,excellent version

To be fair, Sanctuary wasn't on the original release of the debut. It was only on the American release. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
I like the transition from"Ides of march" to wrathchild", it made really more special. Imo.
It would’ve sounded worse on the debut.
It just didnt fit on the album.
BBC sessions 1979 version is almost identical with slight differences. The first solo in both versions is exceptional.

Dude. You made so many spelling errors that it's not even funny

I blows the windows out turned a room in to a nice big speaker 😆🤘🤘🤘🙌💥💥🤟🤟🙌
I like this version! :D
Iron Maiden recorded this as a four-piece with Doug Sampson on drums.
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
No. Parson and Murray on guitars.
No way, Maiden's sound changed and Dianno's voice wouldn't have done that type of music justice.
They probably wouldn't have changed as much had dianno not left. Was also partially due to Clive leaving, had he stayed I bet it would have kept some of that style.there. when a bands lineup more less is entirely changed out, the band changes.
i used to have this album ..lol ..
Grazie
crazy to think how maiden would have turned out with paul as the singer, might have been just as special
but they would never have grown musicaly paul was stuck in the heavy metal time warp as good as it was
even more special, less traditional metal, more unique with Paul
With the exception of the solos, sounds almost exactly like the official version.
No its more raw and driving
Much better than in first studio album.
It's not an album track. That's just moronic reissues and American version. "Samctuary" is out of the album.
Bit closer to the live version and thats a good thing. Prefer the solos on the Official verson though
@TheAtraxRobustus Nope lol Paul is the man!
I downloaded this version. The Mp3 compression of this youtube stuff is awfull - irrespectfull. There is a discographia with that one perfectly originally tuned on the internet somewhere.
I've got this one
is dave murray was the only guitar player on this version?
Tony Parsons on second guitar
@TheAtraxRobustus One of those people? THE only person.
@jozefthedick
Sure thing mate, i'll upload it tomorrow and send you the link.
Up the Irons!

no sorry
@TheAtraxRobustus Nope, can't stand Bruce Dick.
This is the only Maiden to me.
You said it - Maiden lost it when Di'Anno left
