  • This is a rare clip from Jeff's appearance on the short-lived (yet very funny!) sitcom, "The Single Guy" from 1996. Jeff played Klein, a flamboyant party planner helping gallery owner Trudy (Ming-Na) to organize the festivities for famed artist Carl Gannon. It's a really fun episode, and Jeff is absolutely amazing as Klein. ("Just...Klein.")
This is Jeff's first (and sadly only!) appearance on a sitcom. Even in this brief scene, you can truly see how adept he is at humor and his timing is impeccable. Here's hoping we get to see him in another more straight-ahead comedy project in the near future!
Unfortunately, this series has not made it to DVD yet, so I thought I'd share this small clip with you in hopes that it does soon! :)

I'm surprised he's never done more sitcom roles, he's a natural at comedy the same as horror.

    What makes a man splendid?
What makes him a master craftsman of the art of commanding attention?
Not a question easily answered. In the military, where I served for ten years, an ability to project strenngth and leadership and command was a man's ticket to success. But I have seen priests walk as tall as any general and with manly grace, projecting gentleness. The amazing Mr. Combs has a following that finds, in his finely balanced set of qualities, a vintage of unexpected, intoxicating flavors: a Shakespearean dramatic presence with a Stanislavski-Strasbourg edge that broaches no compromise. His intensity ( and sometimes his inflection) and ability to focus the camera's complete attention remind me of the magnificent Claude Rains, another 'short king' who knew how to masterfully dominate the screen. What a professional he is.

No clue who this combs fellow is, but the very funny, single guy was an early swing and miss in the now long list of programming disasters by NBC.
