Dumbledore's father (Percival) attacked the three boys with magic and was sentenced to Azkaban.
@planeman18I think that reading between the lines, we can presume that Albus did care about what happened to his father. But like Aberforth said, if they had defended their father, they would have had to admit what was wrong with Ariana (that she was an obscurus). It was better for Ariana’s sake for them to pretend that their father was just a muggle hater as opposed to having her taken from them. He definitely went after those kids for what they did to Ariana, so Albus could easily and truthfully say that he knew that his father did do the crime.
“He keeps his calm when there a troll in the dungeon” “ he keeps his calm when the chamber of secrets is open” “But he loses it when a dementor puts there name in the goblet of fire”
That, and there's the fact that Aberforth told the golden Golden Trio about Dumbledore's father being sent to, and later dying in Azkaban; which forced Albus to become head of the family. Such a shame Richard Harris passed after the second film. Michael Gambon is great, but Harris’ quiet, grandfatherly confidence commanded the room in such a special way.
If you're trying keep a plan in place and someone throws in the one thing that could ruin everything that you have control over in that plan, it would piss you off. Their loyalty is to no one but definitely not to a wizard who doesnt have dark intentions, so they cant be bought, manipulated, controlled or destroyed. And while he may have had personal reasons for his anger and fears, i find it hard to believe Dumbledore wasnt a walking patronus charm to those dementors. If anything, he may have had a dark experience in his past but not necessarily the loss of his sister. If Ariane was an obscurial, she probably also had dark influence over dementors at some emotionally charged moments. Something like that could have left a deep impression on him too, before her passing.
The real reason is because they could seriously harm the students. That’s one of the very few ways someone could make Dumbledore angry. For example, in the Order of the Phoenix he allows Umbridge to reign her terror over the school for most of the year and doesn’t do anything to stop her until she physically puts her hands on Cho’s friend Marietta in his office. He only gets extremely angry when a student of his (besides Harry) is threatened or in danger. In the same book, when Harry sees him at the top of the steps in the room with the veil during the battle of the ministry he says he saw anger like he’s never seen before in Dumbledore’s eyes because his students (again other than Harry, his perfectly ok with putting Harry in danger) are threatened by the Death Eaters. In book 7 he also make Snape swear that once Snape becomes headmaster of Hogwarts after his death that he will do everything to protect the students of Hogwarts. His number one priority is the safety of his students (other than Harry) and dementors are an extremely dangerous threat to them all.
