Thanks for your review and thoughts on the bike - I certainly love mine. Just to clarify a few points: 1) The tank is 11 litres (not 17). 2) The seat is 785mm (not 700mm) but a low seat 770mm anjd high seat 800mm option is available from the dealer. 3) Top speed claimed by BMW is a conservative 89 mph but seems to cruise quite happily around 80 mph, one up on the flat.
I brought one of these through the BMW rookie to rider scheme. £500 deposit and £99 per month for a couple of years of lease, includes full training, which was excellent at BMW Rider training in Royston, and finally £1100 worth of riding gear. Bit of a no brainer really. Had it for just 3 weeks now and it's a really good little bike, easy to ride and cheap to run, as you say it's an ideal commuter, and extremely comfortable on longer runs. Not the fastest bike around, but keeps up with traffic easily and has enough go to get rid of cars that sit too close behind.
I will admit Its a nice looking bike for a single cylinder BMW and very surprised they brought something like that out. cant wait myself to pass the A2 licence and get onto something a little bigger.
Great video, very insightful and informative, thanks! BMW built their factory here in Brazil, so they assemble bikes with parts their factories make around the world. I can't wait for the G 310 R to be released here as well. Cheers!
London is now a third world country. Government care more about criminals than its citizens, police won’t chase if they toss away their helmets they are home free. Scooter gangs run rampant, UK’s future looks dim as f##k.
Very Nice video Thank You. I own the Yamaha 2015 R3 in the United States. I'm now living in Amsterdam Netherlands and just purchased today from Harry BMW after a test ride. Very nice bike and very light and nimble. Not as fast as my R3 @40hp. Just puts a smile on my face as its so fun too ride. I had a larger BMW Scarver SC 600 I traded in for the New G310R much more comfortable and smaller I purchased the Blue. I have to wait 2-3 days for lic plate so I can pick it up and Ride.
Richard Braun I know what you mean, it's a really fun bike to ride. You have to work the engine and gears, but you can really flick it around. Enjoy your new bike!
naveen rengarajan too early to tell. I'll have the first device done in about a month so will put a vid up then on the cost etc. I'll be servicing it every year as it's either about 8,000 miles or a year.
It is because of the BMW's jv with the Indian company TVS ,the TVS has designed a bike which shares the engine of this bmw called 'TVS Akula 310'. Hence they want to launch these bikes so that they don't eat each others' market.
Number of units manufactured are less than what demand would be. Hence, TVS is first making more bikes for BMW so that it can be launched to meet up with the demand. Maybe in Q1 2018.
I've got one and have used it on motorways a couple of times and at 70mph it is noticeably light but then if motorways regularly are your 'thing' you need a bigger bike with more weight and certainly more power.
I saw this in California last month. The price point for the 300 cc class is high in the USA compared to the Honda 250/300, Ninja 300 etc. It is priced just below the Duke 310. This looks like a small 800R, but there ends the difference. The Gas/Petrol tank is in the front, the other Sub Liter BMWs have the Tank under the seat. The Tires are Tubeless, but there is no TPMS, which is standard on all Tubeless BMWs. I don't know if this will take 2 persons, the seat in the rear looks very flimsy. If I were a betting person, I would bet that this would not knock the socks off the Hondas and Ninjas as the First bike for a newly minted rider. So the question is: Who would buy these in the USA? The R310GS could be another story.
It's an attractive bike in a generic sort of way. Seems cheap in the UK. In Thailand it's about the same as all the others in the 300 cc class which doesn't make it such a bargain. Why waste money on an exhaust for a commuter? Have you ridden the MT-03. 321 cc, 42 bhp. Only 9.5 kg heavier than this, but much quicker. Good review. I'll subscribe and see what else you have to say.
Sparky Rides performance wise it's better than GW250 due to having that little bit more power. I'd say it's also better quality being a BMW. It's too early to say on the running costs, but as this is a frugal single cylinder I'm pretty sure the MPG and servicing costs will be better.
Great video, have you gone two up on it and if so will it keep 70+ mph without ruining the engine? I'm 99% convinced that this is my next buy, but my ten year old likes to ride pillion at every available opportunity
They're quite different bikes so it's a bit tricky to say. I would say though that I prefer the BMW. I don't know if that's just because I'm a BMW fan or not, but the bike feels better quality, more power (even though a single cylinder) I'd also say the BMW is much more fun to ride.
Pen15UK hey, could you compare this with KTM duke 390 single cylinder in terms of quality, engine refinement or smoothness?, though KTM is high on power. Thanks
Nice review. 105Mph top speed seems high for this naked bike. would be glad if some one could test this. anyway, great bike. BTW, how does it stand against KTM duke 390 in quality and refinement?
Bro, ktm duke is aggressive bike.. built for speed! But bmw g310r is for city riding purpose.. I liked this bike very much, after u get hands on this bike.. u wont want to race or do speedy rush in less traffic areas! Really awesome bike nd great handling..
Rode both of them. Although a quality, good handling machine I constantly hit rev limiter on BMW. I see many one- to two year old g310's for sale. I got the Duke, don't like the looks much and it's a bit less comfortable, but the handling and extra power made it an easy choice for me.
Did you just say 17 litre fuel tank ? I was of the opinion that it had an 11 litre fuel tank.......How about a review of the G310GS ? Thanks in advance
Yes 100%. That's why BMW offer them as part of their new rider scheme. It means it will get you on a bigger bike than a 125 which will allow you to go anywhere with confidence, even the motorway
The Exports that India does are over optimum Quality ; whereas those manufactured within India and distributed all-over the country doesn't keep up to the standards at times.
SM VIDEOS India sucks because we are religious . religion is poison , be it any religion. Add to it lack of ambition, entrepreneurship, and craze for government jobs which pays you for sitting on fat chairs. my friend is trying hard for UPSC so that he may get good dowry and start earning easy bribe money.
Sudipto Majumdar nah you are dumb as fuck ... dowry is a crime (your friend should know better if he is trying for UPSC) ... don’t blame your boring life on religion ..
don't think ill be able to do that anytime soon as the to speed will be well over the legal limit in the UK. I would need to find some private land like an old airfield to do that. However, if i ever get the chance I certainly will! From the feel of it I think it could certainly hit 100mph+ on it. I'm still in the running in period so limited to 6,ooo RPM at the moment, but the power is there.
it's going to be in between the 250 and 390 in pricing . so it's not competing that directly. this bike is on different phylosophy than the KTMs going to have marginally less performance for more reliability. the components are not stressed out and stretched to the limits as in high compression engined KTM. it's also tested to be better fuel efficient with better thermal management.
where there tvs quality issues are normal, short life motorcycles . . .think it will be launched after indian mkt will be full with better bikes in comp
lipovics it might be useless for you, but useful for many. rather specify what would be your use. for example the BMW S1000 RR is completely useless for me. four cylinder 200hp, can't rev high and be safe. drinks like anything and expensive like hell.
Thanks for your review and thoughts on the bike - I certainly love mine.
Just to clarify a few points:
1) The tank is 11 litres (not 17).
2) The seat is 785mm (not 700mm) but a low seat 770mm anjd high seat 800mm option is available from the dealer.
3) Top speed claimed by BMW is a conservative 89 mph but seems to cruise quite happily around 80 mph, one up on the flat.
I'd say that 60 mph would be its highest cruise speed (being nice to the engine...) would be OK with me....
I brought one of these through the BMW rookie to rider scheme. £500 deposit and £99 per month for a couple of years of lease, includes full training, which was excellent at BMW Rider training in Royston, and finally £1100 worth of riding gear. I think that's a brilliant deal and scheme BMW have put together.
3 years later I’m about to pass my A2 and grabbing one of these on a real nice HP deal. Good review bud
Good choice!
I will admit Its a nice looking bike for a single cylinder BMW and very surprised they brought something like that out. cant wait myself to pass the A2 licence and get onto something a little bigger.
Little singles are great fun enjoy & be safe ,just got myself a little Honda CBR 250R.
Nice one! I like the CBR2050R it's a good looking bike. Enjoy it!
my bike , love you BMW, Welcome to Chennai
Great video, very insightful and informative, thanks! BMW built their factory here in Brazil, so they assemble bikes with parts their factories make around the world. I can't wait for the G 310 R to be released here as well. Cheers!
Thanks! I really think the G310 will sell well in your part of the world!
How quickly will this get stolen in central london ? This is how i decide on whether i should get the bike or not.
if you live in london dont buy a bike worth over 1k
London is now a third world country. Government care more about criminals than its citizens, police won’t chase if they toss away their helmets they are home free. Scooter gangs run rampant, UK’s future looks dim as f##k.
London is degrading every passing day.
Where in London are you from?
Reminds me of the inazuma 250, A bike I got after seeing your vids a couple of years ago and I still love it.
well when you fancy a change i'd now recommend this!
Very Nice video Thank You. I own the Yamaha 2015 R3 in the United States. I'm now living in Amsterdam Netherlands and just purchased today from Harry BMW after a test ride. @ Richard: Which handles better R3 or the BMW? and which bike do you find overall better of the two?
Very good review. Thanks 🙏🏻
Thank you
Thanks for the helpful review
Built in India, but still not available in India till 2018! :/ #Logic
Looks good sir! Nice bike!
Hi Pen15UK. I liked your review. How about the service intervals and maintenance cost of BMW G310R.
naveen rengarajan too early to tell. I'll have the first device done in about a month so will put a vid up then on the cost etc.
I'll be servicing it every year as it's either about 8,000 miles or a year.
The Honda CBF 125 is for sale brand new at around £3,159.00 for 2024 so the BMW 310GS is a bit more than £1,000 more!
How good the bike is in the corners ?? BTW I am from India; and surprisingly they haven't launched it here as of now 😡😠
It's brilliant! Really light and easy to change direction and flick the weight from one side to the other.
It is because of the BMW's jv with the Indian company TVS ,the TVS has designed a bike which shares the engine of this bmw called 'TVS Akula 310'. Hence they want to launch these bikes so that they don't eat each others' market.

AkSTRIXWarrior 117 nope 👎
Parimal Raj nope they have adequate units to supply the world and they won’t have enough to supply in India? It has been setting up dealerships...
Bought one meself....a great bike......would I buy another one if necessary ?.....absolutely.
I've since bought the G310GS. Give it a go.
thanks for the review
Would you say it's a motorway bike? I am a bit reluctant as it's very light and worried about lorries blowing me over
I've got one and have used it on motorways a couple of times and at 70mph it is noticeably light but then if motorways regularly are your 'thing' you need a bigger bike with more weight and certainly more power.

The R310GS could be another story.
I may, I have a R1200R and would enjoy a smaller bike in addition to it!
Hope this gets launched in India atleast during the Delhi Auto Expo 2018.
Does this have slipper clutch?
It's an attractive bike in a generic sort of way.

அருமையாக உள்ளது நண்பரே
Is your tachometer turned off or not working? It should appear in the LCD at the bottom from left to right as the revs increase. Best, Pete.
no it's there. Must just be the light reflection not showing it.
Nice video and nice bike, but how does it compare to your old GW250 on power and running costs. Only ask as I'm thinking of down sizing.
Sparky Rides performance wise it's better than GW250 due to having that little bit more power. I'd say it's also better quality being a BMW. It's too early to say on the running costs, but as this is a frugal single cylinder I'm pretty sure the MPG and servicing costs will be better.
Will this be look ok for someone who's say 6'4" and about 220 pounds and would it be ok ergonomic wise?
Good video 👍
might be very slightly too small. You'd be best checking one out and see what you think
Great video, have you gone two up on it and if so will it keep 70+ mph without ruining the engine? I'm 99% convinced that this is my next buy, but my ten year old likes to ride pillion at every available opportunity
No I wouldn't put anyone on the back of it. 1st it would bottom out on the suspension and I really don't think the engine would cope too well.
Hey nice video! Looking to get one, have you already got it serviced and what were the costs like?
Thanks!
joshua klootwijk nah didn’t keep it long enough to get it service. However the cost is about £100 for the first service.
Hey, so what rating would you give this bike compared to the Inazuma 250? I'm curious :)
They're quite different bikes so it's a bit tricky to say. I would say though that I prefer the BMW. I don't know if that's just because I'm a BMW fan or not, but the bike feels better quality, more power (even though a single cylinder)
I'd also say the BMW is much more fun to ride.
Pen15UK hey, could you compare this with KTM duke 390 single cylinder in terms of quality, engine refinement or smoothness?, though KTM is high on power. Thanks
I am many miles from the nearest dealer. At 6 ft 4inches do you think i would fit?
C Cooper not sure, but I have a feeling it might be slightly on the small side for you.
How does it compare to your old Inazuma?
Much better. Its a more premium brand and with that comes the quality of service from the dealer.
Nice review. 105Mph top speed seems high for this naked bike. would be glad if some one could test this. anyway, great bike. BTW, how does it stand against KTM duke 390 in quality and refinement?

Watch this space. BMW G310GS coming soon. I've now owned one for 2 years so will be a long term ownership review.
You recoment this for a first bike?
Yes
How tall is the bike? Can a 5 foot 6 guy sit on it with his feet touching the ground?
yes. I'm 5'11".
Dual channel ABS?
Sir plese explain radiator fan noice & engine heating issue???
Because I will be planning buy this bike in future
don't know anything about that.
I have a full licence and not been on a bike for over 10 years would this be a good bike to get back into biking
Yes 100%. That's why BMW offer them as part of their new rider scheme. It means it will get you on a bigger bike than a 125 which will allow you to go anywhere with confidence, even the motorway
The Exports that India does are over optimum Quality ; whereas those manufactured within India and distributed all-over the country doesn't keep up to the standards at times.

well bmw rejected a whole batch of this bike in 2016 and we still are waiting for release 😭😭😭
I'm really debating starting the 'rookie to rider' scheme by bmw. £99 a month seems a bargain for all your training, kit and bike.
yeah that seems a decent deal and they'll get you hooked into the BMW brand! Can see why they do it.
Can you make a video on Maximum Speed achieved on this bike too ?
don't think ill be able to do that anytime soon as the to speed will be well over the legal limit in the UK. I would need to find some private land like an old airfield to do that. However, if i ever get the chance I certainly will!

Steel wheels ?.
Yes
@@Pen15UK No, unless they can make steel unattractive to magnets...alloy wheels.
Duke 250 or G310R ?

That BMW sounds 'tinny ' to me .
Doesn't resonate with what we're used to hearing a BMW sound like.
yeah you're right. As a single cylinder bike it does sound a bit agricultural and not like the nice punch form the boxers BMW do. I miss my RnineT
it looks more like MSX125 when you stood next to it haha
not at all. It's much bigger than an MSX15
where there tvs quality issues are normal, short life motorcycles . . .think it will be launched after indian mkt will be full with better bikes in comp
Useless bike. Max distance without stop is 30 miles. 1 cylinder shakes like hell.
lipovics if you actually watch the review you will see me point out it's a great commuter bike. I didn't say you could tour the world on it.
lipovics it might be useless for you, but useful for many. rather specify what would be your use. for example the BMW S1000 RR is completely useless for me. four cylinder 200hp, can't rev high and be safe. drinks like anything and expensive like hell.
KMT Duke 390. Same price, one cylinder, but has many extras compare bmw.
The best choice in this category is Yamaha MT03 .
thanks for the review
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
