only the top 4 picks are actually randomised through the lottery, the rest is just the order of teams based on record. Thats why when the jazz pick was announced at 10 it meant rockets and hawks had jumped into top 4 as they both had a better record than jazz so should have had the higher picks

Spurs were projected to get 5th pick due to their record, but moved up one spot. Then got Torontos 8th pick from the Jakob Poeltl trade. Torontos pick was only protected if they landed in the top 6. So Spurs still made out great! 👍
ZTAY, the Hawks had a 13.9% chance to jump into the top 4 picks and only a 3.0% chance to secure the #1 overall pick. Nothing to do with their previous trades, they just got incredibly lucky. 👌

This is why I prefer Team Academy more than College/School draft picks. We need the NBA Academy for each team to build and scout good players they want to sign from their own academies and then even able to scout another international Academies and NBA to sign a player. People will let their kids go to academies and they'll fight for the spot on their Team to be their 2nd team on G League or straight to the NBA. We'll see more talented and more conditioned players every year or two. This is why SOCCER is so popular in the world. They have their own Academies and International scout and their own Team Scout.

As a Spurs fan, very happy with 4 and 8. Obviously, would have been nicer to get a little higher, but getting that 8th pick from the Raptors is a big win.

Before the draft lottery, there’s a chart of teams who didn’t make the playoffs and it shows the projected draft order and percentage on getting the #1 pick for each teams. The percentages are off of how many combinations does this team get in order to win the 1st pick in the draft. For the NBA, the only do the top 4 picks while the remaining teams are slotted 5-14 based off their records.
Spurs were 5th and got lucky raptors fell this was a huge win for the spurs move up 1 spot from their pick and then get raptors pick gimme dillingham, topic or castle and then just get some shooting with 8
I woke up from my sleep and I saw the hawks win the lottery. My ass instantly woke up (very rare for me to wake up straight away, usually I would sleep for another 25 minutes)
There’s a lottery template that shows percentages the teams can get so pistons had a higher percentage to get the 5th pick but that is the lowest they could’ve dropped so other teams that like jump ahead is cause the other teams fall they take some spots because they couldn’t fall into like 5-9 cause there are spots that you cannot be in due to other teams needing those spots for their fall or rises
Raptors pick was Top 6 protected from the Poeltl trade, so it conveyed this year. Spurs at 4 was their own pick.

...4th and 8th pick are good...we got wemby...this draft class is not that strong...I'm happy with the picks...hopping to getting risacher at 4 and dillingham at 8...but also be happy with Ron Holland Cody Williams or buzelis...
