Two blackholes in orbit around each other. Both are leaching the massive cloud of material in the area, creating two accretion discs with opposite spin. The accretion discs periodically interact with one another causing electro static forces to build up. Eventually the electrostatic forces discharge in incredible brightness like a cosmic lightning charged incandescent light source. The red glow can be the cool down period after the electrostatic forces have returned to a less energetic state.

Maybe I’m being a bit silly for thinking this but what if it’s white holes? Maybe these strange explosions are produced by black holes consuming energy, and the repeated ones can be explained by something in an eccentric orbit slowly being consumed, and spat out by the white hole. These objects would then most likely be invisible when not exploding, or perhaps slightly bright because of the accretion disc

Maybe a neutron star with an eccentric orbit around a black hole and depending on the velocity relative to the earth determines the color of the explosion (red shifting when moving away and blue shifting when moving towards us), and the flatness is caused by its extreme rotation. The explosion would be caused by it hitting the accretion disk.

On December 19th at 130AM near Nashville, TN a friend and I observed 15 bright blue flashes between Sirius and Procyon, each between a minute and 5 minutes apart. Those flashes had the same RA and DEC in the sky as this repeating FBOT... The flashes were extremely momentary, they were not sustained. They were nearly as bright as Sirius, which is extremely bright for something that repeats.
It still could be something else but that's insane if I that's what I saw with the naked eye.

Maybe those in charge for the simulation liked the explosion so much, that they rewind it a few times to enjoy
