Wait I have an idea for this AU, I feel like once the demon slayers had finally won and Muzan had been defeated, the breathing styles would be passed down but instead of using nirichin (forgot how to spell it) swords, it was adapted to bending styles. Soon the avatar was developed which sort of relates to Yorichii and Tanjiro in some way through generations, kind of like how Tanjiro has memories from the past that were passed down. Which is how aang can go to the spiritual world or communicate with the past avatars.
