I just bought mine today and I'm returning it tomorrow due to failing to pair it with the polar flow app on my phone. This is the second Polar watch that I'm returning, the first one was a A360 which was constantly crashing in the middle of my running sessions. Polar has some major software flaws and serious conectivity issues. I will never buy from them again !

There is plenty of variation between how different Android devices handle the technologies used in our products and services, such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and different standards and protocols. Because of this, compatibility varies between phone manufacturers, and unfortunately Polar cannot guarantee that all features can be used with all devices. I am not able to sync Polar Flow App (LG V20 android) with the Polar Flow app with almost any combination of trial that is known to me including factory / soft-reset of M430, switching flight mode on/off, re-installation of Polar Flow App, switching bluetooth off/on on my android, power on/off my android, ... , please help.
I presume you are referring to the "BACK" button which is the found in lower left hand side of the watch. The Polar m430 try to sync with the Android Polar Flow after I have a long press of the "BACK" but it fails. I have tried to re-start the Android and it works if Polar m430 is the only connnected bluetooth device other than bluetooth hand free. It will never work if I have my bluetooth connection setting with e.g. Suunto Ambit3 as a paired bluetooth device with Polar m430. Not sure why but Suunto Ambit3 will able to sync with the Android even with Polar m430 bluetooth setting installed. In short, thanks for your advice but it just does not work for me.
Just received mine. Setup using the watch itself. No pulse detected. I wear a fitbit on that wrist and it shows a pulse. This is my 3rd Polar heart rate monitor over the years. First to have issues. Update: I was able to get the pulse to activate after about 30 minutes. It worked once I synced it thru computer.

After 2 weeks of trying, at last pairing issue solved. connect the device to your PC via cable and FlowSync software, and perform factory defaults. When that's complete, disconnect the cable and start the phone flowSync app. (don't pair it via bluetooth settings, pairing is done by the app)
Hello, is it possible to configure this watch WITHOUT smartphone? I don't have a smartphone, and I don't want anything fancy. I just want to know my heart rate when doing exercises, that's all (giving the time wouldn't be a bad idea either...). I have also read somewhere that it had a vibrating alarm instead of a sound alarm. I find this feature interesting especially to be notified when getting out of heart rate range : the place where I train is often noisy, and I can't hear the beeps of my watch.

i bought mine today and to set it up was so easy, Go to settings, General settings and click on pair device and it will literally sync with the app it took no longer then 3 minutes to do it
DONT pair your watch via bluetooth on your phone!!!! it will screw with the connection from the watch to the app, if you go under settings > general settings > pair and sync > pair and sync to mobile device and then you enter the polar flow app it will automatically detect your watch and then ask to pair it, and its easy from there on.

Everyone that came here because can´t sync your Polar M430 with your phone using the app Polar Flow: Conect you watch on your PC and restore the manufacture configurations. After that, you will be able to sync it using the app. At least it worked for me.
Worst cable connector, ever. You don't enough the USB, you have to push your fucking cable type, which is a piece of shit. Well done, my wife's suffering with your shit, I'll buy a Garmin or anything else.

Finally, that did it. Factory reset and reinstalled the app also for good measure. Thanks!

@@dennedahlstrom I have the same issue mate. Using a computer will not solve the pairing issue with the Polar Flow app on your phone.

Not working with Phone note 9 is likely to be a problem due to the Android system

I also normally have a giant unnatural smile on my face when I use software.
DONT pair your watch via bluetooth on your phone!!!! it will screw with the connection from the watch to the app, if you go under settings > general settings > pair and sync > pair and sync to mobile device and then you enter the polar flow app it will automatically detect your watch and then ask to pair it, and its easy from there on.

TIPP: First you have to connect the watch to your PC. After that the watch is able to connect to a phone. Thank me later.
