Nice video. That fall could've been much worse so glad you and the bike were good...even better, lol. I love that you guys hammock camp. It is the way!
Right? Crash seemed to help the brake! Hammock camping is great, sometimes difficult to reserve sites when you are unsure about the trees, but its much more comfortable!
@@GooseADV you rode down the center ... pick the car track line instead and it won't be slick from all the vehicle droppings. It works the same on the asphalt as well.
Bad memories right there . I slide on railroad ties myself . It was a pad for the high tension wires where I wasn't supposed to be . Of course, I was alone . Took me hours to get out of the woods, then hours to see a doctor later . Lol lol lol
@GooseADV Well, at least you have a video with a memory . I just have a vague idea of what happened . Remembered how slippery it was when I was trying to lift my bike back up . Well least your ok . 👍
It was the wrong time to be all jolly and riding with one hand. I saw it coming before it happened. Alas. I hope you are alright and didn't break anything other than a chip off the ol' ego. Also I am looking forward to the next episode because you guys are riding in a really beautiful place. I am enjoying the banter, as well. Good audio and video. Good discovery this morning on RUclips. Ride safe, guys. Hello from Alberta.
@@GooseADV We didn’t see any that day, didn’t go to the visitor’s center. We stayed on the dirt, went to Buzzards Roost, and back to home in Weaverville NC
At a Race up in the pacific north west. They had a wood bridge as part of the track with no sides on it. also on a downhill and into a corner. Half the race ended up in the creek through out the 1.5 hour race.
nice video! i really enjoyed it! i have the same bike and boots :p. Also nicely done recording the intercom audio. are you recording it on a second device or on the stereo channel?
Thanks very much! Those boots are great, aren't they? I've got a 3.5mm splitter coming off a Gopro mic adapter with two mics - one to the front of the helmet for my voice and the other sitting atop the bluetooth comms system speaker inside the helmet. Here's a video on how I set up my helmet- ruclips.net/video/mJGulXPsDfE/видео.html

This happens quite often on bicycle trails and greenways as well. Luckily, you weren't hurt or bike damaged.
All in all, it could have been worse for sure!
Guess what? Those small concrete creek crossing can be just as slick if you try to change direction or brake or anything. Instantaneous slide out
Those wet wooden bridges have taken me down many times. Now I approach them slowly sometime I even stop and slowly ride the bike over just to be safe
Definitely was surprised! The wood was polished smooth and had a bit of oil on it from all the vehicles passing over for years.

Yikes! Every time is a learning event, some harder than others!

Thanks for the feedback, and yes! Two hands on wet bridges now! Episode 3 coming soon!
@@GooseADV You lived to learn, great video, thanks for sharing.
The exact spot you stopped after the (crash) bridge is where I dropped my VStrom last year. U turn fail!😂😂
No way! Such a great place to ride isn't it? Did you go check out the Elk?

Must have been like ice.....it was for me. Been over that bridge before in the rain, never thought how slippery wooden bridges can be
@@GooseADV Oh yea and on nobby dirtbike tires is even worse... watch out for anything wood while wet!

@5:12 you said you have to be plated to ride there. What does plated mean?
They are public and US National Forest service roads, so in order to use them your vehicle must have a license plate and be registered.
Did you call DNR and report the gas spill into the river?😂
Fortunately we had a spill kit with absorbents and rolls packed away! LOL
@@GooseADVI’m sure you did 😂
