Everything is on a professional level. I became your subscriber and I will see all your videos. I think I fell in love with you.
You make such good videos, so densely packed with information, it's amazing. One of the few real estate photography channels that are not clickbait hot garbage. Thanks a lot man, one of the best gems I found on RUclips this year!
Love watching your real estate specific vids. Great stuff. I’ve been using your tips to take my content to the next level for the RE firm that I work for. Thanks so much. And that flash would really round out my kit!!😄

i got a question about the height of the camera, i ve seen people say it should be in the door handle height or somewhere in between but i see you have it much higher, is there a rule about this and/or how you set up the specific height or it depends on the house? thanks really nice content mate

@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo My pleasure! When i go into PS and start adding layer mask, I cant get it to look good and i have no idea what im doing. Im just trying to copy what you are doing but it looks so bad when im doing it. The shadows and everything looks weird..
Great tips - you make it so simple. For some of the bedroom shots, I noticed that you were getting some of the red color from the wood floor reflected onto the ceiling - would you typically want to whiten the ceiling or leave it for accuracy?
Thanks! That's up to you! If its a really strong color cast, masking/desaturating a bit can help but if you go too far it can look pretty fake (I've definitely done that lol)
Really love the BTS versions! 50mm is so deadly (but frequently dismissed because the f1.8 versions are affordable.) 50mm and 100mm are essential pieces of kit. Especially if starting out!👍👍👍
Hey Taylor! This episode was super helpful! Quick question: at one point you said the white balance is pretty crazy right now. Considering that the house has all of those orangey and ochre colored walls, would it have helped your white balance issues to always set up white reflectors to bounce your flash off of? I mean in the end your pictures turned out well, but just wanted to get your opinion on that. Thanks in advance! -Eric
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Awesome, thanks! I have another question for you, if you don't mind. And thanks again for all of your help! I currently own the Sony a7s III AND a Canon R5C. For my Sony I have a 14mm f1.8, a 16-35 f4, and a 50mm f1.8. I know that my Sony is gonna be my camera for RE video, BUT when it comest to RE photo, I'm a bit worried that the 12 megapixel sensor won't be sufficient. One RUclipsr, Mike at "Inside Real Estate Photography," says that he uses the A7S III for photo because most photos will just end up on the internet and the agents don't need super high res images. My Canon R5C has that 45 megapixel sensor.. but I only 50mm lens for that camera at the moment. Eventually I want to get the 14mm-35mm RF f4 lens for it... but I don't have a lot of extra money right now, so I'm wondering if for RE work I can just squeak by on my Sony A7S III's photo quality. What do you think? Would you even consider delivering photos that were taken on a 12mp sensor camera?
Try it out and see what you think! I’d think as long as you’re getting exposures good it could be doable for just MLS photos. They’re definitely going to be harder to work with though with a lot less room for editing / recovering details and highlights so be careful. R5c will definitely be much much much better though.
Very nice BTS video! Just went from shooting 3 brackets HDR to start using a Godox AD200 pro and shoot one ambient and one flash for enfusing them togeather. Maybe should buy one more flash to fill in those other rooms :)
Nice !! Yeah once you get the hang of it , that can save you time with less layers for sure :) As close to being done straight out of camera is the way to go !
I’m curious if you’re ever worried about bouncing the flash off of colored surfaces? Or do you just bounce off of whatever is there and just correct it in post?
For sure ! It’s handy to keep a white reflector with you in case there’s no options (red walls, dark ceilings or dark walls, etc) but a lot of times you can just grab a white pillow from a room you already shot to bounce flash off of for pretty similar results to a reflector! But a lot of times it’s just working with whatever is the best option. Some shoots you have more or less time to finish everything. This one ended up being a little rushed because the realtors were about an hour behind schedule 😅
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo makes sense. I’m always on the search for the quickest way to get good results when it comes to MLS real estate. I shoot HDR for most real estate stuff but sometimes I know a flash would help tremendously. Just hard to break a 7 year HDR habit. Haha.
@jcnestudio. I love to watch your videos for its simplicity. you are straight forward, go go go and done, no extra talk. I would actually like to a have secondary flash to my setup and could probably use it in a similar way you do. one tip I would like to give you. I have seen you carrying your flash under your armpit. you can attach your flash pouch to one of the legs of the tripod and insert the flash.
Thanks!! Haha yes! I used to use the water bottle pouch from my camera bag for that for a while but didn’t have it with me since I traveled for the gig !! Definitely handy ✅✅
Doesn’t bouncing a flash off of a colored wall defeats the hole purpose of using flash for neutral colors? I mean you would introduce color cast all over the place right?
Yeahh in this situation it wasn’t the best… But it still changes your exposure difference for interior/exterior and softens the lighting on the interior. If you’re in this scenario and less rushed, it helps to bounce it off a white reflector or a white pillow if you don’t have one and can find one in the house (or aim for the white ceiling for the bounce).
Great great great video. This was so inspirational and motivates me to do flash!!! How long did the shoot take? and how many photos did you edit and how long did the full edit take. Thanks Bryan
Hey! It’s the camera triggering the flash through a trigger on the hotshoe. 2 or 10 second timer depending on how far away you need to get. Hope that makes sense !
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo hi Taylor, thanks for the reply, being colour blind I find it hard to colour correct could you do something ( quick video maybe ) on using a grey or white card and how you use it in both still and video. My wife gets a bit fed up when I keep asking her to make sure I’ve got the colours right, can’t blame her, bless.
Ooh! That must be frustrating. Most cameras have a white balance option for “custom” and usually you can just put the card in the focus area and it uses that for a reference for the color balance (tint+temp) but you can also use your scopes on video (check out my color grading video) to see if things are in a pretty neutral range depending on where things end up. Usually as long as it’s relatively close to a neutral color temp + tint the rest is pretty subjective anyways so you might not have to worry as much as you think.
