That's true, but you are missing one thing, the Crows had the better percentage, 4th highest in the league. But it all boils down to the fact, that Crows lost crucial games other than Sydney, but also against Collingwood (2), Melbourne, Brisbane (1), all by under a goal. In short GWS would have gotten in, but Sydney would have been replaced by the Crows.
That’s just factually wrong. Give the 4 points to the crows and take it from Sydney means crows finish equal with bulldogs on 48 points while Sydney drops to 46. Crows get in on percentage (116 vs bulldogs 109). Essentially crows and Sydney would have swapped positions
