    Making a Leather Utility Zip Pouch (WITH PATTERN!)
    In this simple project we made a zipper utility pouch from some scrap leather. These zipper utility pouches are a great use of larger pieces of scrap leather - maybe they have marks on them, or brands, or a big section of pock marks. You can make these zippered leather utility pouches for your shop out of those big pieces of leather and still get a lot of good use out of it!
    For these zipper utility pouches we use about 4-5oz leather. We hand stitch the zipper into the leather pouch, and then also hand stitch the pouch shut with a saddle stitch and poly threads. In this leather pouch design we like to include a grommet which can be used to hang the pouches on hooks or you can make a lanyard or wristlet to make the pouch into a clutch or small purse! The smaller size included in the pattern, when made out of clean leather, makes for a great zippered wallet as well!

    Great Video, I've watched thousands of these and your the first to actually show that you can hand sew a Zipper in...Thank you for that...also, can I ask what and where can I get a sharpener like you used on your Beveler / Edger???

    • @Corter
      @Corter  5 лет назад +3

      That's from Weaver! Thanks so much, I would also suggest trying basting tape to stick in the zipper - we used glue because we were out of tape, but the tape makes zipper instillation super, super simple.

    • @Corter
      @Corter  5 лет назад

      We'll have a whole pack of lighter cases coming out soon! The tote bag is a bit more difficult - we might do that one down the road for sure, but we've got a few other bags we plan to do patterns for first

    A very simple and fanthastic piece. I'm gonba make a double layered for my equipments (corter corner and "cinzel" ). I would like to know what you are using under the leather for stitching and cutting.
    Glamourous pieces.

    • @Corter
      @Corter  5 лет назад

      We just use a self-healing cutting mat to cut most of the time (though I forget and cut straight on the wood a lot...this is a good way to go through blades fast!). For punching we use a Novolene Chopping Block from Weaver on top of granite

    Amazing as always 📢💯... But I have a question about burnishing was not shown, was it missed or not required for this kind of zipper pouch

    • @Corter
      @Corter  5 лет назад +1

      We burnished all the edges, just didn't really show it in this one - we don't always show every single step, it can make the movies drag on a bit too long :) but you can burnish/wax/paint/dye/leave edges plain on any of our projects, it's your choice!

    • @Corter
      @Corter  5 лет назад

      the large one is about 6.5" long, so it's a bit short for pencils but you can easily elongate the pattern by cutting it in half and adding a couple inches from a second copy of the printout :) you'd want it to be about 8-8.5" long for pencils
