I was invited to an after show party by Rodney in Las Vegas back in the Late 80's. The hotel suite was packed with all kinds of minor celebs. Vegas types. Rodney was sandwiched between two black women. He stood up with them. He put his arms around them and said, "Look at me. I'm an Oreo!".
Rodney was the king of one liners! I visited his grave in North Hollywood a few times, and even then he made sure his tombstone would say something to make you laugh ... it just say's, "Rodney Dangerfield There Goes The neighborhood"
I'm so glad you discovered Rodney Dangerfield, the man was a living legend. Not only was he a great comedian, he also discovered a lot of young comedians and helped them launch their careers. Look up Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Carrey, Roeanne Barr, Sam Kinison, Robert Townsend, and Tim Allen, Rodney helped all of them when they were starting out, he enjoyed helping comics because he knew that comedy is not easy. Rodney also made a few movies you might also enjoy. Cadddyshack, Easy Money, and Back to School were my favorites. Thanks for the reaction, it felt good watching people discovering Rodney.
Rodney Dangerfield was very famous in the 60s and 70s but his career was revived when he appeared in the 80s movie Caddyshack with Chevy Chase and Bill Murray
Rodney the KING of 1 liners. It`s amazing he can remember all those jokes! "I get no respect" was his tag line and twitching and fixing his tie was his stick to! He did all this without cursing. One of the great comedy guys of all time foe sure.
Rodney is my all-time favorite comedian! I was like 10 when his movie Back to School came out, I remember recording it on VHS and watching it over and over again, I still have nearly every scene memorized.
I love you two! I love seeing your perspective on things I saw and heard in my teens and forgot about, until you laughed it back into head. Stay Blessed and I hope your family's are doing well.
Can you imagine being his friend and hanging out in Vegas listening to the fun stories. Rodney really was a lovely man that cared a lot about his craft and the comedians in his community too. Great to see other people see him through RUclips.
Rodney and George Carlin were my favorite of all times. both were brutal and took no prisoners.. These men were the greatest. I am so happy thta you two liked this skit...
Really?I always love it when people look back and say how much better it was back then, have u ever heard the stand up for Lenny Bruce or George Carlin and countless others who had dirty language thru out their routine, yes they were comedians “back then”
@@MrJjcatt The thing is, the right comedians, could use foul language to make their jokes hysterical. But I've seen too many, where there is too much foul language and not nearly enough funny in their routines. George Carlin got away with doing it right, and a few others. Some comedians seem to use foul language when they just aren't getting regular laughs from their material. Just doesn't do it for me. Gilbert Gottfried was bad at that. He could be really funny, but too much filth. He was really raunchy at times.

My favorite Rodney joke: My wife and I, we went on vacation, you know? I walked into the hotel and told the bellhop to handle my bag. He started feeling up my wife!
Rodney Dangerfield was such a great comic! His biggest catchphrase was that he doesn't get any respect. Pretty much all his humor is based on this idea. Aside from that, Rodney was a great guy. In his nightclub he gave many comedians their first shot at stand-up. He was even in several movies in the 80s. It might be fun to react to some of those, too.
Jacob Rodney Cohen aka Rodney Dangerfield was the son of a stage performer who worked for a traveling variety-entertainment stage production known as Vaudeville. Vaudevillian shows, like a circus, traveled from city to city with the same crew of performers. The stage acts included some performance similar to a circus but it was much more similar to today's "Got Talent" tv show franchise with singers, dancers, acrobats, tumblers, balancing acts, jugglers, magicians, stunt & escape performers, standup comedy, comedy skits, & some animal tricks.
There are a few of his jokes that you missed but that's because these videos are from at least 25 years ago and a lot only apply in this country, I would love to explain a few of them because when he got rolling, it was non-stop laughter. -When he got even losing in Vegas he stole 400 Sweet N Lows. Those are alternatives to sugar that restaurants always gave for free with your coffee. A lot of comedians over the years would joke about that because they are free and wondered why people go to the store to buy them. -When the audience member said, "how ugly?", that was the response from an old game show from the entire audience, it was called Match Game. He was surprised by that. -He told his kid someday you'll have kids of your own, and his kid said, "so will you", meaning that he's not the real father. -The joke about the butcher goes back 100 years where the wife would fool around with the local butcher and that night she'd be serving a great meal. -He met the fat girl at the Macy's Parade, she was wearing ropes. The Macy's Parade was sponsored by that store, Macy's, one of the largest and well known 70 years ago and still have that parade today in NY City. They have floats in the air held down by ropes, they are gigantic. -His wife passed her road test the first time. The inspector said, "I wouldn't go through that again", in other words she was so bad, he was terrified. -His wife hit a tree and said it wasn't her fault because she blew the horn on the car, as if the tree should have moved out of the way. -His mother had morning sickness after he was born. Morning sickness is when you are pregnant, his mother had it after he was born because she couldn't stand to look at him. -When you play slot machines fruit comes up and three in a row of say apples or bananas, you win. For him, three prunes came up, that's what we use here when we can't poop, prune juice, and usually the older people drink it. -His old man carried around the picture of the kid who came with the wallet. It used to be when you bought a wallet, there would be a picture of someone in there just to show you where pictures go inside, but Rodney was too ugly, so his father would show the picture that came with the wallet. There's so much more, but I hope that helps. I love your channel, and you two have a great sense of humor, I just wanted to fill in some of the gaps.
When Rodney was a kid, he felt like he was going in circles... until his dad nailed down his other hand. Seriously... he started in the fifties with a puppet thing... He tanked and ended up selling vinyl siding for houses. He got his stuff together and created the "no respect" shtick in late sixties/early seventies and BOOM. Funny cat... He had his own club, too, "Dangerfield's." Respect.
Rodney Dangerfield was really good. The headstone at his grave has the following inscription: 'Here lies Rodney Dangerfield. There goes the neighborhood.' If you haven't seen him yet, have a look at the comedian John Pinette. He was hilarious! One of the best is his full show, 'I Say Nay Nay'. It is really funny, but any of his clips will do.
You just saw 40 years of Rodney..And unlike many later comedians, he didn't have to use one cuss word-The guy was just naturally funny. On his Grave Stone it reads, "He got no respect-But we all loved him anyway!" ( My fav? "She's so fat that when she wears high-heels, she strikes oil!")
Wife jokes and neighborhood jokes were real big back then. Also drinking jokes were big back then too. Everything Rodney says is a joke. His the king of the one liners.
Some of these jokes are culturally based so it has to be hard to understand some of them. Like in the US they have a support group named Gamblers Anonymous to help people stop gambling. His joke was that when he joined they gave him Two to One Odds that he doesn't make it (won't be able to quit gambling). It's a very clever use of the term "Two to One Odds" which is often used in gambling. So they gave him odds, bad odds, when they were supposed to be supporting him. Which is another theme of his - nobody likes him and nobody ever supports him. In fact, nobody respects him. This was a particularly clever joke but I do think that for English speakers born outside of the US it might be hard to catch.
I have a suggestion! You guys should do a reaction to the Top 25 Skylines in North America 2023 and a reaction to Richest Companies in the World 2023. Keep up the good work and excellent content! The Loud Guys ROCK!
Rodney was a very, very funny man. "I don't get any respect." One Rodney joke I remember about his marriage goes likes this "We went to a marriage expert - he told us to talk more after sex, "Last night she called from the motel." Next he said my daughter is having trouble getting her license she can not get use to being in the front seat... Too much! His material was well written and his jokes came real fast..... Non-stop. He was a few movies - Caddyshack and Back to School to name a couple.... Rodney spared no one and nothing from his jokes... Nothing! I hope you two liked Rodney. He was really good at his craft.... I think he and George Carlin were two of the best ever..... His work covered many different subjects.. Rodney was a true master joke teller!!!! You all take care.
There were a lot of jokes in there that I could tell you didn't get because you're from India and English is your second language. You should listen to them and look things up, you'll see he's even funnier than you thought.

Great movie. I always hated the main guy, though. A douchie character played by a mediocre actor.
This is such a powerful compilation, a storm of one-liners lol
Rodney "Danglefield" is now stuck in my head, thanks.
If you watch one of his stand up specials, he actually tells jokes at this same pace, for the whole performance.
It's impressive to watch.
Thank you for your reaction. Rodney's one liners are still the best around. Timeless comedy. Outstanding!

Rodney is very funny in the movie Caddy Shack.
Ahhhh such a cult classic!!!
He got "the walks". When you get diarrhea it's called "the runs".
That's one that I didn't get.
I thought it was some kind of old saying.
Thanks for explaining. 👍
Another slang for it is "the trots". The Walks works with both.

This video is all chopped up clips, BUT his sets are so rapid fire that they are pretty much like this video.
His joke about being so old he gets "the walks" is in reference to an American phrase "the runs" which means diarrhea.
If you want to keep laughing look up Phyllis Diller. Similar jokes, similar era, just from a very very clever woman.
In 1980 Danger Field not Danglefield issued two album one on Casablanca the other on Arista.
