@ You're absolutely right. I had zero problem with AAA dropping me because they could not raise my premium. I have a huge problem with the state that forces Insurance companies to charge less premiums than the payouts they incur and expect them to keep writing policies.
The fire department failed this guy. Your property taxes pay for a fire department. Don't get me wrong. The individual fire fight follows orders. But the fire chief stood next to the mayor and said nothing about it being the mayors fault. People lost their homes, and some lost their lives. He has every reason to be upset with the fire department.
State Farm gave a 90 day notifying to property owners that they were not renewing homeowner policies. While sad these people lost an uninsured property, it is not like they were cut in the middle of a policy year and without warning. Kemper, Allstate and others that pulled out of California over the last few years acted via the same notification procedures.
Yes, they didn't renew the policy and instead sent a 60 or 90 day notice of cancelation. I wouldn't go to work until I had a policy. I would call out sick with COVID19. Of course Im a surgical nurse and that would be acceptable. I don't believe that he doesn't know anybody at 40 years old, who didn't have their home burn down.
There you go. I'm not familiar with laws in Cali but here's it's a 90 day notice. It's unfortunate that the fire started only weeks after the coverage lapsed, but that was just a matter of the policy period ending. They still had 90 days.
People want to blame…blame…does this man think just because he was 3 minutes from the fire station, poor firefighters were probably fighting fires, so entitled Americans are so entitled, why don’t you start talking about the climate that is too hard no one wants to address the causes, just blame someone.
State Farm didn't take away those people's insurance, they simply did a risk analysis and decided not to renew their policies because of high risk, which I would bet the analysis includes the readiness of the local government.
Not only local government, the state level knew it as well. Insurance companies are highly regulated; if they wish to do business in the state, they are required to take on a percentage of other lines of business, some which may be more or less profitable. The government knew this was going to happen, period.
No state has invested in readiness for climate events. We’ve had them on an enormous scare since Katrina almost every year…… Florida residents also cannot get home insurance. Nobody wants to make the investment can’t give the rich tax cuts and protect the people at the same time
So he bought a house in a fire zone, but pretty close to the nearest fire dept... and when ALL the houses are going up in rapid succession, he expected them to save his house 1st or something? Is he somehow "special"? Dude, houses were burning up EVERYWHERE and there was only so much water that the system could provide at once and only so many fire trucks available at once.... get a grip on reality here! What was your house made of, wood with asphalt shingles on the roof I'd bet? Amazing! 😲ps. Every house that burned down, left open water lines pouring water out into their ashes... so after so many hundred homes have burned, there goes all your water pressure for the fire hydrants people. 😕
Thank You- very intelligent perspective. How brainwashed are these people blaming Gavin? Sad how uninformed and easily manipulated the U.S. has become.
How the f you get that from what he said? RUclips commenter stupidity has reached new lows with this. He was blaming the authorities, the government. Fire department is the arm of the government that is supposed to take care of situation like this. This guy most likely paid taxes to finance said fire department. What´s unclear?
Also the houses being packed in like sardines doesn’t help any either it’s so easy for fire to jump 20 feet to the next house and keep the domino effect goin
But why don’t they tell the homeowners get a notification to evacuate?? What about whether the power was still in or the gas so they could have a better idea of risk to them or neighborhood homes?
True, but to not take steps like removing dead trees and brush, which goes against environmental laws. LAFD having 98 firetrucks inoperable because budget cuts won't allow them to hire a mechanic . And an empyh reservoir since February of last year? Even without the winds, you need water and firetrucks to put out fires. Fires in Southern California and Santa Ana winds are not new in California. They could be a little better prepared.
Exactly! No way they could have saved hundreds of homes buring at the same time. So many brainwashed dummies on this feed. Thank You for the obvious and very intelligent comment.
So very sorry for your loss. Imagine a Government that can protect 8-12,000 residences on a one on one basis. The insurance co. industry should give a 2 or 3 year notice for dropping a policy. (I've been priced out of flood ins. in Houston, Tx. due to 2 events in a 10 year period so at 69 years old, another flood, I'm going down with the ship so to say).

Living a couple minutes from the fire department makes no difference in a wildfire situation! It’s not your house on fire it’s your entire community and I know you’re smart enough to know that
Was his house part of the wildfire or was it an independent thing? He says he has to log into his car to see his property, implying that the car is fine. That also implies the whole neighborhood wasn't destroyed. Not that it matters either way. You can't really save specific homes in a wildfire.
@ They ignored the Wind Advisory Warning. They waited SIX HOURS to declare an Emergency. A homeowner saw his home destroyed to rubble within an hour. No more excuses.
@ nope. no one ignored a wind advisory. There was no human caused delay. I live here and I was paying attention to credible sources of information. Emergency response systems all operating fine. Stop believing bs
I've been hearing a lot of people like this. I understand that everyone is beyond upset and want to place the blame on someone but they have to put this into perspective. If this gentleman has been listening to the news, he would know that the firefighters are dealing with over ten thousand structures burned and you would be extremely lucky to have your own personal fire truck arrive at your home. I don't know what he means that he hasn't heard from the government. Like others have said, there are catastrophic fires still burning and I wouldn't be waiting by the phone for the FEMA director to call him quite yet. God bless everyone and be patient. Sometimes there isn't a playbook to handle these increasingly worse, unexpected natural disasters. There are many others that are going through the same thing and the biggest priority is is to save lives...not property.
No amount of water would have put out this wildfire with winds blowing close to 100 miles an hour! When your insurance would not cover you, they were telling you something, that you are living in a dangerous area where tragedy will happen!
@ I've experienced Santa Rosa/Tubbs fire personally and there were a few cases about people who have saved their houses with garden water hoses. Also here's another example in Altadena. ruclips.net/video/b-oGFNEMzNo/видео.html How does your KoolAid taste?
Did this guy think that every fire engine should have remained in the station until he alone needed one? It makes no difference how close you live to the fire department when such an apocalyptic event occurs. Had his house been the only one ablaze he would have genuine cause for complaint but this feels like he's agitating to score political points.
I imagine, at this point, for fire prone areas, it is time to install fire suppression/prevention systems into these properties. I could imagine a buried 1000gal water tank hooked up to a solar-battery powered pump that provides pressure to large sprinklers that cover each corner of the home/property that can be activated remotely and spray for an hour or two to soak the home during a wildfire. Pretty simple irrigation tech could prevent an ember from igniting a home. A few stayed and prevented their home from burning with a low-pressure garden hose.
I lived across the street from the BLM and USFS. Cal-Fire told everyone including responding companies “to stand down conserve your recourses” refused to use water i provided and took water away from the site to stand down around town and watch other houses burn refusing help to locals fighting their fires. We need to look at Cal-Fires standard practices.
No communication from the government -? Isn't this a channel that's anti-government? And did this unfortunate homeowner think that the nearby fire station's crew would make a beeline to his particular house as this fire was destroying everything in sight? And when his insurance was ended because "everyone knew" of the fire risk, what did he personally do about that? No personal responsibility?
Jesus dude. There were multiple houses on fire. The fire department was concerned with saving lives. Not a home that can be rebuilt. Plus, if there was a high fire risk. Why didn’t you fire proof your home. Bushes grown up against the house. Lesson learned. Good luck
So I don’t know if this guy understands math; 3 trucks to put out one house fire. Over ten thousand fires means over 30,000 trucks. Impossible. Warning you by your insurance increasing rates one year ago would have done what? Do you know that this type of fire would require infrastructure that could handle 5 times the amount of water demand. Not to point fingers but taxes pay for infrastructure and who passed an infrastructure bill against all odds? A personal account does not represent reality, only a single perceived reality. The facts of the matter is that they were fighting as hard as they could and this guy didn’t volunteer to help or donate to forest protection agencies. I’m sorry you lost your house but to blame anything other than worst conditions made even worse by poor conservation and preservation over decades not months or years. A major shortfall of The US is the lack of investment in public utilities with annual tax revenue. No one wants to pay taxes to stop these things from happening but complain about it happening to them and only them. ruclips.net/video/3cIKMsXL0yQ/видео.htmlsi=ZHnIZjKhXXg9sigb
It's not like wildfires are new to Los Angeles. Wildfires are common to Los Angeles. I even saw one as an undergrad at UCLA, from my apartment building, but that was many, many years ago. There really is no excuse for the degree of unpreparedness experienced by Los Angeles.
@@lambertlum1087 one wildfire witnessed by one commenter ‘years ago’ doesn’t represent the scale of the fire that wrecked LA recently. You u remember the fires in Canada that turned New York orange? Well you see when rain doesn’t come when it used to that means things get drier. When you have thousands of square miles of forest, taking care of that forest requires a lot of government money. And hilariously a president has been elected that keeps denying science, and wants to decrease the efforts to move away from fossil fuels and into renewables. You know, it’s that type energy that doesn’t add Carbon directly to our atmosphere. Seriously, you go to Taiwan and say “you know Disneyland has tidal wave pools right? So why don’t you guys know how to stop tidal waves since there are pools simulating tidal waves. Do you go to a campfire and say ‘That’s a nice warm forest fire,’ no. Because they are completely different. Unlike you I have actually been educated in forestry and US has one of the worsts management programs for their forests. Also should try to imagine what would have happened had the entire government been shut down, like the red team wanted to do for your holidays. Seriously, it’s impressive how people can be so skin deep and lack any critical thought in such an extreme situation. Think about how much is on fire when a house goes completely up in flame? Plastics, metals, fabrics, paper, insulation and wood. Toxic fumes. Intense heat. High winds spreading fires miles ahead of the main blaze. People need to think before speaking.
Building there was like building in a smelt… it is the one place on the entire earth with the highest probability of a wild fires. It is the perfect location in every respect for wild fires, because of the topography to the east (desert and mountains) When their is a high pressure system to the north, hot air blows from the desert, over mountains as high as 10,000 feet making the air even more dry, when the air descends for up to 2 miles… it speeds up, gets compressed and heated even more… up to 20 degrees parching and drying out everything. Add in the canyons channeling the air flow even more… One spark and that place is like living in a smelt. When there is a low pressure system to the north… moist air is trapped… then come the land slides. This is how the LA basin was formed over tens of thousands of years.
Well said. Next, consider why people were building there? Why were mortgage companies financing construction in these areas and why were builders choosing to build? $$$$$$$$$$
This is a nice teaching lesson for him because this time it was only his house. When a 7.0+ earthquake hits Newport-Inglewood and the whole county is on fire, you and only you are going to have to put on a tourniquet and triage your family. Paying taxes for government help is like leaving cookies for Santa - somebody is eating the cookies but you'll get coal.
A buddy of mine had a house in Santa Rosa back in 2017 during that crazy fire. His house was not effected in any way but they did have to evacuate for about a week. A few years later he got a check for $60k from the state or PG&E I think it was. He has since sold and moved and bought a brand new bad ass boat with the money and paid cash for it. Cali is messed up.
Fire prevention, at least to mitigate these deadly disasters, needs to be at the TOP of the priority list. THE TOP. Water and firemen paid well are in this group of priorities.
In any disaster if you are relying on government you will be dissappointed. Disasters overwhelm available resources. It's not a disaster if they can handle it with routine response.

I wrote Gavin newsom a handful of years ago. I told him he has to quit allowing gasoline to be poured on these homes. You cannot have asphalt shingles. Crude oil by-product. Extremely flammable. Absolutely no vinyl siding. You must have steel siding. No vinyl windows. Vinyl and plastics are an oil by-product. They are extremely flammable and are almost impossible to put out. There's something wrong with his head. He refuses to reply. I told him this every time there's fires out there. Very frustrating.

I had zero problem with AAA dropping me because they could not raise my premium. I have a huge problem with the state that forces Insurance companies to charge less premiums than the payouts they incur and expect them to keep writing policies.
this guy is angry at the wrong people...a hugely complicated mess...
Local and state government impact residents directly so know who you’re voting for really sad
@@nappybiscuit Are you implying that this guy's house was the first one to go up and caused the wildfires because the nearest FD didn't respond?
@@dchawk81 no
@@nappybiscuit Okay so how did the fire department fail this guy?
When 100’s of houses are one fire, no one is coming to help you. Sorry that everyone had to learn that from this tragedy.
I'm sorry this happened to you and your family. May God be with you all.
Nobody wants to make the investment can’t give the rich tax cuts and protect the people at the same time
When it's a wildfire incident affecting a swathe of homes, then one's proximity to a fire station is rather irrelevant.
His washer/dryer survived the fire!! Now I know if I want to save paperwork that I cannot carry out with me, throw them in the washer/drier.
I live in Orlando and was told when I moved here to keep my valuables in the washing machine during a hurricane. 🌀
Launder your money, folks.
Recall Newsom, mayor Bass, & LA Water CEO -J Quinones whose only focus is DEI. Water reservoirs not filled, hydrants not checkd or working. Horrible
Finally. Thank you for posting this message. I was listening to him thinking "is there a punchline coming because dudes a joke".
Thank You- very intelligent perspective. How brainwashed are these people blaming Gavin? Sad how uninformed and easily manipulated the U.S. has become.
Hydrant systems are usually separate systems to potable water lines. Water lines don't melt at the hose bibb either.
How the f you get that from what he said? RUclips commenter stupidity has reached new lows with this. He was blaming the authorities, the government. Fire department is the arm of the government that is supposed to take care of situation like this. This guy most likely paid taxes to finance said fire department. What´s unclear?
@@AmericatheBeautiful-p4zNo, hydrants are not on a separate system. They come right off the water main.
Only took 15 minutes for my neighbors house to go up in flames even with the fire department spraying water ! I’ve never seen anything like this.
Also the houses being packed in like sardines doesn’t help any either it’s so easy for fire to jump 20 feet to the next house and keep the domino effect goin
It's they dried up trees and bushes everyone wants all over their property for privacy.
What materials did they use to build those houses with? Paper or cardboard? No solid concrete?
We live in earthquake country out here. Can’t use solid concrete for housing.
No amount of government was going to stop that fire.
But why don’t they tell the homeowners get a notification to evacuate?? What about whether the power was still in or the gas so they could have a better idea of risk to them or neighborhood homes?
And SIX DAYS later no estimate of when it will be safe to inspect the remains of the home? Where to stay indefinitely? Very irresponsible of gov
Don't expect every fire fighter to cover everything
If you have been flooded twice in 10 years and cannot afford flood insurance you should move. Two to three years notice of cancellation is an absurd thought.
@@KylesRV Thanks for the advice. Yes, I have had over 3 years without flood Ins., my choice. I live in the Museum District in Houston, Tx. If they go down, I go down. My choice, love it here and I will deal with it. I'm not complaining. Have a great life as well.
I am really surprised by how poorly prepared both the individuals and the officials were considering how high risk area that was. A lot of also wealthy ppl who could’ve invested themselves in some kind of fire protection systems.

Living a couple minutes from the fire department makes no difference in a wildfire situation! It’s not your house on fire it’s your entire community and I know you’re smart enough to know that
Did the fire station burn down too? They were probably out fighting the fires. Unbelievable to see that tree burnt like that.
Holy jesus, this is a nightmare through and through

Was his house part of the wildfire or was it an independent thing?
He says he has to log into his car to see his property, implying that the car is fine. That also implies the whole neighborhood wasn't destroyed.
Not that it matters either way. You can't really save specific homes in a wildfire.
officials need to go to prison
Oh my I can’t comprehend the agony.
I am so sorry. CA/LA Govt have failed us over and over again. They knew.
After all of these celebs supported Kamala, they now want Trump to pay for their homes???? Crazy circus!

Did his dog survive the fire??
No amount of water would have put out this wildfire with winds blowing close to 100 miles an hour! When your insurance would not cover you, they were telling you something, that you are living in a dangerous area where tragedy will happen!
Im pretty sure, some water could have been helpful...

How does your KoolAid taste?
What I see is a house that's surrounded in dry trees and a roof undoubtedly covered in dead leaves and sticks
No city can sustain that much water and pressure for this type of fire.
Ask FEMA for help $750.
It's simple, don't build houses of wood......
Did this guy think that every fire engine should have remained in the station until he alone needed one? It makes no difference how close you live to the fire department when such an apocalyptic event occurs.
Had his house been the only one ablaze he would have genuine cause for complaint but this feels like he's agitating to score political points.
It took FEMA over a week to help people in New Orleans after Katrina,so what's your point?
"Hurry up and wait like everyone else."
My question is, why did we stop building houses with bricks, stone, cement? Only chimneys survived the fire. We need to stop building homes this way.

@ also this - ruclips.net/video/_fM92iv3FxQ/видео.htmlsi=FNHyTm7UxUtC6hnR - they are putting prisoners to work as a firefighters
Building there was like building in a smelt… it is the one place on the entire earth with the highest probability of a wild fires.
It is the perfect location in every respect for wild fires, because of the topography to the east (desert and mountains)
When their is a high pressure system to the north, hot air blows from the desert, over mountains as high as 10,000 feet making the air even more dry, when the air descends for up to 2 miles… it speeds up, gets compressed and heated even more… up to 20 degrees parching and drying out everything. Add in the canyons channeling the air flow even more…
One spark and that place is like living in a smelt. When there is a low pressure system to the north… moist air is trapped… then come the land slides.
This is how the LA basin was formed over tens of thousands of years.
Well said. Next, consider why people were building there? Why were mortgage companies financing construction in these areas and why were builders choosing to build? $$$$$$$$$$
@ Few people even stopped to think about it. It is the absolute worst place to build a house on earth if you don’t want it to burn down.
Hmmm...you live in SOCAL/PAC PAL on chaparral land...and you didn't know that fire was a risk? sure, buddy...
All those classes used to be taught in school when I was a child.
I just learned that all these poor ppl still have to pay their mortgage and property taxes🙉

The insurance cancellation should not be allowed. They may need a bail out just like the banks got in 2008. My heart is broken for all those suffering. These fires are not normal.
Kind of sounds pre-planned listening to this guy with the insurance companies. Was no coincidence.
None of them should pay any taxes for the rest of their lives.

The insurance companies tried to warn them that this might happen, but no politician took any positive steps to protect their constituents…..Can’t be mad at the insurance companies….
