BEcause is on the Summer Holiday album because it's Dreamcatcher's version of a summer song! You go creepy to give people chills to keep them cool in the summer. BEcause is probably my favorite title track (up against Bon Voyage for that spot), but it really doesn't get as much hype for most of the others I think because it feels like a bit of an outlier in their overall discography style wise. But all that said, the super creepy-cute vibe they go for through the entire thing is one of my favorite vibes, period. Since you called out the choreo potential, too, I'll say that BEcause probably has my second favorite sequence in their choreo (after the opening to Good NIght with the music box), wherein SuA acts as a puppetmaster to the other members while singing her bridge. If I recall correctly, the doppelganger angle was on purpose, and the MV director said they were inspired by the horror move "Us", but I'm not 100% on that.

Well, well, well. Hi there! Dreamcatcher are outdoing themselves here once again. Musically, the song is a fantastic journey. There actually are "cute" parts, but there also are parts where the guitars go full metal. The variations in BEcause remind me of their previous masterpiece, Deja Vu. The bridge with SuA's slow rap and Yoohyeon's backing vocals is possibly the most beautiful one they have ever done. About the meaning: According to Dami, BEcause is about love becoming obsession. And also, this is a stand-alone story. They go back to their horror roots, which I really enjoy. They noted that if you look at "BE" as a written Chinese character "悲“, that would mean "sadness". I can't add much to both your analysis and the comments below :) So, I'll just give some personal comments :) I agree with you that this song and mv (and choreo) definitely should've gotten awards. The music in Dami's rap part reminded me (and many others) of Firestarter by The Prodigy. When I first heard Yoohyeon's bridge part, I remember expecting her to go higher in tone (and maybe belt even), but instead she went down in tone. Now I am incapable of imagining what I was expecting anymore :p Like ppl mentioned, this was filmed at Yongma Land in Seoul. When I was in Seoul, of course I had to visit. Tbh it's close to being a scrapyard, BUT I was lucky enough to be the only visitor at that time, and I must say that the quietness added to the eeriness of the park. It's like everything is frozen in time (and deteriorated of course). A forgotten place. Love the reaction. Keep em coming!

I have some more thoughts about this song, but ill only talk about Damis rap part cuz ive listened to this song a lot before and have looked at the lyrics and was like "yeah, its about a toxic relationship" but i didnt look that deeply until now. She says something like "lets start from the beginning, a to z, my teaching doesnt follow the rules" and i believe this could represent how she is trying to manipulate the victim in the relationship, how the victim recognizes the signs of a toxic relationship, but she tries to "start from the beginning" and "teach" the "rules" differently, the rules being how a relationship works or something along those lines. So basically i think that line is representing how an abuser can manipulate people into the relationship even if they already know of the signs(something like that)
Amazing reaction! You got so much out of this "summer song" :) but there are a couple of things where I have more to say. First, on the song theme: I believe it is not as much a toxic relationship, but rathe more of a stalker kind of situation. But everything you said on the topic is still spot-on. On the MV side, though, the MV does not seem to be married to the song theme, but does its own thing, mostly through the inspiration from horror movies, and Jordan Peele's "Us" in particular. For example, the start of the MV _looks_ like a kiss, but I believe it is a mirror. Innocent Gahyun (played by JiU facing away from us) leans in to check her face, but then her image in the mirror (played by real Gahyun) reaches out and chokes her. The other five look like paper cutouts on one hand, and the poster of Us on the other, with the family holding hands. You can also see members mimicking holding scissors, a prominent prop in Us. Also, regarding "two-faced": Us is about... well, you know. Doppelgangers, like you read in the comments. And for me, the creepiest scene is the end, which I believe shows Gahyun being taken over: under the watchful eyes of JiU and others, she finally joins the song, and sings the refrain by herself. Everything else drowns out, and you can only hear her own voice, repeating after the others: "sad, 'cause I love you" - followed by JiU's smirk and giggle. Might be because (!) I absolutely adore Gahyun's face. It is a canvas upon which she paints masterpieces. I love Because so much. Choreo is amazing and creepy too (and I already talked about 悲 in another comment.) Maison was the moment I started to break my limit to have half of the group as "main" biases. Gahyun's visual was the type I usually not a fan but it was a flip side on me. Despite I could stay trio mains, OOTD finally was the official moment I have 4 out of 7 as mains.
BEcause- the DreamCatcher version of a summer song for title anyways since Airplane and AllDayLong give the normal summer vibes. Dami in this is something. Doppelgängers are the two different versions of the members with the US inspirations. JiU’s visuals and the short wig for Siyeon. It didn’t win.. which was a shame (same way that Deja Vu, Scream, BOCA and Odd Eye not getting ones). BEcause is 7th on my title track ranking. (Piri, Deja Vu, Scream, BOCA, Odd Eye, Vision) LEEZ and OLLOUNDER wrote, composed and arranged BEcause. Siyeon has credits for BEcause, Airplane and A Heart of Sunflower choruses. JiU helped to write and compose AllDayLong with Yoohyeon helping with the chorus. . Yoohyeon also helped with Whistle’s Chorus. This is between Road to Utopia and Save Us. But it has no connection to Dyatopia or Nightmare. Just like Deja Vu didn’t relate to Nightmare and Rose BLUE didn’t relate to Tree of Language. Deja Vu and Rose BLUE just related to their game collabs. BEcause just has the US references in the MV/choreo along with the Chinese character “BE” for sadness.
BEcause is my all-time favorite comeback from them. The reason it didn’t get any wins is probably BEcause the olympics were at the same time as their promotions and ofcourse the award shows were canceled. The same thing happened during Justice.

Not sure if someone mentioned it in the comment but the main MV concept is strongly inspired by the horror movies 'US' who about evil doppelgangers, even the choreo is inspired by the movie.
Before you check out the rest of this album...a little fun fact about the song "All day long" wrote by JiU... To this day JiU has wrote 4 songs. And each song she used the person she love as reference. And the person she love become more specific the next time Dear : she referred based on Insomnia...the title only put Dear, so that insomnia can put their name after the word "Dear". Same as Yoohyeon solo's "For". 4 Memory: She wrote this song to dreamcatcher members as they being together 4 years that time. All day long: she wrote this based on Yoohyeon who always console her during tough time...this is a fact, she reveals it on After School channel. Summer Holdiay. Sounds so nice and sunny and relaxing. No, here is BEcause. Makes me wonder what's coming for Christmas. When I was new to Dreamcatcher, right around now, I had trouble distinguishing between HanDong and YooHyeon. They almost look like twins in the lyric video pics. What was even harder was watching the first episode of Dreamcatcher Mind when I was new and HanDong and YooHyeon (and GaHyun) were all blonde. Of course, now it's obvious to me who is who, but back then . . . .
So growing up in Korea (way back when most of your subscribers weren't even born yet), summer was hot and muggy... All without air conditioning... Korea at that time had annual tradition of broadcasting horror theme shows (전설의 고향- Legendary folktales from Hometown) for few weeks to give you chills to combat the unforgiving heat... Thus "Summer Holiday" with chilling music, lyrics, and visual...other groups/artists do the similar concept during summertime, but no one can deliver like DC and their producing team...you can practically create drinking game... every time someone says "haunting" during this m/v, take a shot... And someone will be drunk before the m/v is over... 😂😂😂
