Antifreeze Murder Retrial - WI v. Mark Jensen - Day Three
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 13 янв 2023
- Mark Jensen was charged in 2002 for the 1998 death of his wife Julie Jensen and convicted in 2008. Prosecutors say he poisoned his wife with antifreeze and then smothered her with a pillow when she wasn't dying fast enough. In 2013 a federal judge overturned that life sentence, arguing a letter Julie had written before her death shouldn't have been admitted as evidence. In that letter, Julie wrote that she was afraid her husband would try and kill her. Jensen will now face trial for a second time in January 2023.
Reminder: The defendant, Mark Jensen, is wearing headphones because he’s hard of hearing. Thanks.

I love this judge and his no BS attitude. At the same time he has a soft side but also gives off the “do not try to mess with me in my court room” vibe 👏 good for him
Agreed 👍🏼
Agree!🎉
Seems like a cool Grandpa....
Me, too. Those defense attorneys are getting way too lippy in court. Bullying any judge doesn’t work, but this guy really let them know ♥️
Agree, I didn't like him at first but he's a softie 😄
Dude told everyone in the office, no one warned the wife.
Right?!
No one call the police 😠😤
Maybe they thought it was an empty gesture?
I still think it would have been worth mentioning to the police empty gesture or not
This is so sad.
Finally, a judge not taking any crap! Defense trying to be sneaky! Their client is so guilty!
Lmao notice the officer’s shock and giggle 🤭 when the judge goes off - it’s like they know social is gonna pick that up quick.
@@FFact483 Yea, I saw him! Lol!
Did you see the security guy behind Jensen keep from laughing when Mr Klug said, I'm a man, we don't listen to our wives? Also, look at Jensen's face when the jury is out and he was talking to the defense person next to him. Immediately after the jury came in his face completely changed! He's fake af.
He should’ve been Darrell Brooks’ judge 😅
Even without knowing he wanted his wife dead - Jenson has a really creepy & smirky countenance that seems to be covering a controlling rage personality type ;when you meet them there's a feeling of, keep them at a distance they're trouble - evil people often have a weird negative vibe and it shows on their facial expressions.
Yeh I'd say he'd be one of those "stranger danger" poster boy examples for kids at school. I saw a photo of him at court during the first trial, and he didn't have as bad of a stare or guilty demeanor.
Definitely puts off a serial killer type vibe.
Most successful serial killers like ed kemper and Ted bundy and many many others give off “good “ non threatening” “trustworthy” vibes
It would be nice if evil people weren’t charismatic and likable but many are
Spot on!
I can't stand that defense attorneys condescending smirk..she's treating this man like he's on trial. His testimony is so damning to her client all she can do is attempt to assassanate his character. Why is he supposed to remember what he drank specifically 20 years ago??
The way that he dismisses the jury is hilarious
Jensen comes back in court smiling like a wiley coyote every time!
Julie Jensen was let down on so many levels. That poor woman! My heart is broken. She did what she thought was right by contacting police. And they totally blew her off. Shame on them!!!
This defense attorney is making it look like he's the one on trial. Asking him if he ever said anything bad about his wife. So if he did then it was ok for Mark Jensen to kill his wife? Saying something bad about your wife and killing your wife are two totally different things.
You could tell that really offended him for how well he was able to respond to that issue on re-direct 😅
Because as a neutral unbiased observer it's pretty obvious he is lying about the events of that evening.
But you all see what you want to see because you've already made your minds up about the guilt of the accused.
I’d say so!
I think it would help if Mark Jensen stopped making the facial expressions of a smug murderer.
Got to say this judge is rough but he is fair. I seen him get the prosecution and the defense. He wants these attorneys to tow the line! At first didn't much like him but he has proven himself to be unbiased.
The defence attorney’s smile looks evil. She changes her expressions so quickly and strangely
When her smile turns on and off like a light switch, it's not a genuine smile. Could it be a nervous habit? Is she aiming to establish or maintain rapport? 🤔 Anyhoo, whatever the reason, her fake smiles are irritating and weird. 😁
Not being mean but I think she has ticks or something.
Public defender
Well, she also crosses her arms and is quite arrogant. She tries to intimidate at times the witness and she makes disrespectful faces when the judge tells her off.
@@carolineluciamichalski2804 is this the one that calls people snitches or?
This judge doesn’t take any crap
I feel nauseous looking at the defendant.... his face disgusts me
Poor Julie 💔
Poor Julie….she was way too good for him & couldn’t see/believe his evil capacity
You'd think he'd at least try to look a bit less evil 🤣
He has 0 empathy & self-reflection!…..so creepy
He straight up looks like a Disney villain. It's almost hilarious, except for the fact that he's such a piece of filth.
he has permanent creep face from so many years making awful expressions. lines of evil forever etched
I don't understand killing your spouse when divorce is very available. It's quite twisted.
It's cheaper to kill her.
Power, control. Then she could go off, with some of the money and be with someone else and they simply can't have that.
@@lesleyhughes3174 It's terrible, poor lady.
Money
I know right ….. and these fools think they’re gonna get away with it 🤨
That look of arrogance has never left him
thats only your oppinion..a look of arrogance is not proof of guilt.
I Know. I’d Like Go slap 👋 him
@@gregpit1964 I’m guessing You probably have a lot of personality traits in Common with Him 😂
I agree.. and he's very creepy!! The totality of all the evidence shows he's guilty...yet thinks he's going to win this without the letter... NOPE!! Still guilty... He's one of those who thinks he is the smartest one in the room...My opinion anyway....the hi five with his Dad after her death really made me sick to my stomach....
Former co-worker is totally credible to me. We tend to clearly remember outrageous or horrifying conversations or incidents in our life. This man also relayed the conversation to his wife on the phone during several calls. Mark even told this man the actual manner of killing his wife with antifreeze! And a month later, mission accomplished. A sociopath if ever there was one. If only an eye for an eye was a punishment, I would serve up a big glass of antifreeze for this monster to drink. 😡
The man who lost his stock license and was prosecuted by FINRA for defrauding his clients is totally credible to you? Awesome judgment.
@@mrsorton326 you apparently missed the part where the judge noted very clearly that the guy was NEVER actually charged or prosecuted by FINRA or anyone else - he read the defense the riot act about it as it had previously been ruled on that they were NOT ALLOWED to mention it because it was completely groundless, and the defense mentioning it was an attempt to smear him to the jury (which seems to have worked on you)
He seems to good for the pros. He was going the extra mile, past pure testimony. He seemed foggy about the alcohol. Once Def. began the cross he started to bob his body back and forth. Seemed uncomfortable. I think you can see the difference in body language. 1:34:15. The lapels of his jacket.
Nervous laughing is kinda weird, laughing usually does not happen in such a manner.
Thanks for that info
I am a stickler, and I find him to be very credible. His ex-wife also is.
The defence strategy: "Did you not think about something you can't remember in 1997? How about 1998? How about 1999? How about 2000? How about 2001? How about 2002? How about 2003? How about 2004? How about 2005? How about 2006? How about 2007? How about 2008? How about 2009? How about 2010? How about 2011? How about 2012? How about 2013? How about 2014? How about 2015? How about 2016? How about 2017? How about 2018? How about 2019? How about 2020? How about 2021? How about 2022? How about 2023?" And if that doesn't work, just constantly make silly/angry facial expressions while talking.
😂😂
Her voice makes me cringe
She is so irritating
Guilty or not, these state witnesses are all obviously committing perjury and the Defence is very good at exposing them.
Not that it matters, the jury will do the states bidding and ignore the perjury going on here.

Love how this judge put the defence attorney in her place
Defense attorney
@@godzillamanstreb524 thanks, I didn't realise I made that mistake

It’s strange how they tend to ignore that spiritual instincts
As saying goes your killers are the angels of death

I think she thought ti have time and she didn’t want to harm her children. And if he is a pathological narcissist, they are masters in making you believe everything is fine and that they love you. I believe that she told someone that she is fine, that Mark is taking care of her. Maybe he made her believe that he is loving her, that things are good. I was with a narcissist and every time I wanted to leave him, he was able ti make me believe that he will change etc. and I fell for it every time. Today I don’t understand why I believed him because I knew better but back then he was a master of brainwashing me.
Real people, real crimes, getting punished, going to prison, yet politicians still walking free committing more crimes and getting away with them. 😡😡😡

“Without saying words, can you explain what happened” 😅
Why didn't Klug go to Police with that information? If somebody talks of killing their spouse, take it seriously. She might be alive today. People don't want to get involved so I hope this is on his conscience. Coward!
Agreed! He is accountable as well 😡
Agree. But more strikingly, if someone tells me about killing his wife and then his wife ends up dead, I’m not waiting almost a decade to tell the cops. He’s either a liar or a terrible person.
Yesterday, while watching this I realized the defense attorney knew this was put on public display with cameras. She was acting like Johnny Depp's attorney trying to get public acclaim. I am so happy this judge put her in her place! This is not Reality TV!!
I can’t stand her. The faces she makes! A total lack of respect. When the judge tells her off she makes especially disrespectful faces.
Can someone point me to the time stamp of this moment of the judge telling her off?? I can’t stand her but am not sure where that moment is

Weird to see a guy using poison.
How many adults let that poor woman and her son's down?, Co-worker "told I'm going to kill my wife with poison", sat on info for almost a decade, despite Julie dying a matter of days later. Neighbours Voight? Had many contacts where told of her fears AND handed photos and reels. The cop JFC 40 - 50 face to face contacts over 5+ years, took reels to be developed between 24th to 27th November 98 , didn't even contact her with info about contents, he was contacted at home by chief day of death "did you speak to any other officers or go to the scene ?" No WTAF is wrong with these people???. 100% fail from them all. Those poor poor boys left to grow up basically orphans. A decade later everyone wants to tell their stories - wounds opened up again for them & now this another decade later. 😥😭
All these men on trial for killing their wives
Definitely not... they came to learn how to kill their wives. 😂
I find the defence lawyer incredibly rude and extremely unlikeable.
Watching Day 3. Why is the defense using that attorney? She is condescending. She does not carry herself well and her attitude stinks. She is a big reason the jury may hate the defense. Crazy.
Defense attorney looks like Kathy bates in Stephen kings misery
🤣🤣🤣
Lol, yeah a little, I see it. 😆
Well good job defense attorney! She knows how to count years and how to be sarcastic and passive aggressive.
she is highly annoying.
Everyone is entitled to a legal defense in a trial, but some of these people who defend the murderer. Don't know how they sleep at night.
Particularly his family and his NEW wife. His family appear to have celebrated Julie's death.
I'd rather a murderer have a fantastic defense attorney who does everything right so that when they're convicted, they don't have any grounds for appeal; otherwise you end up with creeps like this guy getting his conviction overturned and get to walk free or waste the State's money in appeals/retrials. We'd never have heard about this guy again if he had had adequate defense the first time around.
They sleep at night because they are making our justice work . Guilty people have rights, too.
Imagine getting a client charged with murder, do the work and find out they are innocent. I guess that just sucks huh! I hope you are NEVER in a jury. EVER.
@@CharlieDexter99 it's mind boggling reading some of these comments. I pray some of these people are never on a jury.
interesting to see the ritterman judge in the tapes of the first trial!
Nice to know he screwed up 2 cases in his career as judge!!
He allowed the wife’s letter in evidence in this one and didn’t allow in evidence in cry baby rottens trial! 👍🏼🤡
MH has the creepiest stare he puts off. He stared down his ex coworker while on the stand and it’s chilling
Defense female is all about the rules, except when it's her cross examining.
The defense lawyer is very unlikable
Who is on trial here, Jensen or the witness?
Great judge!!!!!!
Lots of people here saying that witnesses should have helped her. Remember that this victim took photos of the studies and plans of her death and delivered them to the police and even that wasn’t enough!
I just started watching this. I don't still know exactly what it's about. But you got to love the mild-mannered guy who apparently couldn't get enough of someone telling how to murder his wife.
For you kids out there, there is a mid-60s Jack Lemmon vehicle called How to Murder Your Wife. It's dated poorly but it does have Virna Lisi in it.
Is that a novel?
It’s a movie and I was thinking of that movie also. I’m not impressed with people that don’t tell the wife!
How the Krug's stayed silent for nearly 10 years is beyond me and is sickening.
Imagine being a judge and you feel strongly that someone is guilty as sin, and the jury decides and he can walk?
A judge can sometimes override a verdict.
You say praise God we have a jury system!
The jury found him guilty in the first trial. Unfortunately, one of his appeals succeeded on a technicality so now this whole circus gets to happen again.
@@Thebeautiful11 a judge can only nullify a guilty verdict, not the other way around. Recently a Judge was completely disbarred just for saying he found a Not Guilty verdict shameful.

IT SAYS "GUY TALK"!!!
My sympathies lie with the taxpayers of Wisconsin that have to foot the bill for this retrial, witnesses in 2023 are being asked about conversations that occurred some twenty five years or so. From a Canadian perspective, US criminal trials take FOREVER to be litigated, motions, depositions, pre trial, blah blah blah, so much for the constitutional guarantee of a "speedy trial."
The vast majority of the time it's the defense asking the judge for delays to give them more time to prepare and their client more time out on bail.
@@8thhousemoonrabbit205
Why are we not allowed to see some of the evidence pictures? Like the autopsy?
Watch at 1.50x speed

Excellent advice 😊
The defendant's attorney is trying to discredit the witness's credibility. She made the mistake of bringing up the topic of the talk about killing wives. The witness's wife, Joanne, didn't die, but Jenson's wife Julie did. She just proves the credibility of that discussion.
I think she’s trying to discredit the witnesses account of the conversation, hence why she started with “how many drinks” mix up.
@@CharlieDexter99 Back then everyone drank, especially during these type of social conferences. All it did was make Jensen lower HIS inhibitions. Subconsciously was trying to justify what he was doing (poisoning) so he didn't feel shame and guilt...A true psychopath! The States prosecutor made sure the witness stayed honest, and that really helped with the cross exam. His ex wife sealed it perfectly. The phone calls to and from his ex wife helped the prosecutors prove he wasn't intoxicated...his ex said so too.
That poor man would have no reason to lie. The defense lawyer is nasty jury's don't like badgering a witness
I think he's truthful, but if you're really cynical you could say he wanted his manager to go to prison so he could take his job.
This is the Judge I want to see Darrell Brooks face in the Milwaukee case where he ran over Erika. Dorow was the perfect Judge for Waukesha as she was firm but reserved enough to let him act out and make a fool of himself on the record. Brooks pretty much sealed his own fate and the fate of any appeal with his outbursts, threatening of the Judge, DAs and witnesses, and his misstatements of the law.
This Judge would be hysterical with Brooks as his own lawyer. I don’t think Brooks would blow up nearly as much but the first time he accused this Judge of bias or judicial misconduct, the Judge would jump over the bench and beat him in open court 😂
Will there be trial today?
It's not over so should be. Today Is a Holiday.
I have watched several hours of this trial; it is fascinating....but, something weird is how often the witnesses do not understand the question as stated, as if they cannot hear, or they answer and then contradict themselves. I know we are going back to 1998; that kind of confusion and inability to answer makes sense. I do not understand why the state does not make sure the witnesses have a copy of their earlier testimony so that they can refresh their memories.
The defense lawyer was so rude and challenged the judge so harshly; I was astounded. He sure handled himself well.
it has to be done that way in front of everyone so they dont get accused of leading and prepping witnesses
Would have loved to be in the judges chambers for that conversation!

lol the defence on cross looks like she wants to tear the whole court room apart soooo angry.
The wife's letter should have been considered a dyeing declaration and admissible. I'm not an attorney but my understanding was that a dyeing declaration was a certain exception. Like if a person who is stabbed or shot and with their last breath says "it was Joe." That would be admissible even though you can't cross-examine the dead person.
Except you can’t make a dying declaration 2 weeks before you die. It must be in the moment a person reasonably believes their death is imminent.
@@mrsorton326 In this case it was imminent. It just didn't work as fast as he'd hoped.
I believe the police in my area are going to kill me due to contemp they have for my expression of my rights. If I said this does it suggest that if I am killed by the police any time in the future that it was for the reason stated? I thought maybe this was why the letter cannot be admitted. But I could be wrong.

I’m justifiably sick and tired of defense attorneys using the victim as a defense. The victim is dead and cannot defend him or herself. I’m so glad that pos Mark Jensen was found guilty. RIP Julie Jensen.
Good job on the defense part
Does anyone know the reason it got to re trial what was not done in the original trial?
You can read about it in the gray box at the top of this chat.
I think there have been shenanigans in regards to that letter ruling. Since he couldn’t question his accuser who was dead….after her death is the STATE. The state accuses him on behalf of the deceased plus WE the people.
Mark Jensen’s asinine smile just makes him guilty can’t even look at him he looks so Arrogant and guilty no doubt in my mind

I wondered what Kevin Bacon had been up to.
3:37:55 Can anyone explain why the officer was smirking and shaking his head behind Jenson? Jenson actually notices something is going on and spins around to eyeball 👁 the officer…!!
It looked like someone was being disruptive in Court or doing something they should not be doing in Court and the officer noticed this and so was perhaps waiting for judge to say something but didn’t? I think the defendant just probably noticed it too and so was looking around at officer to see if he was going to do anything. The officer seemed to be mouthing something to another officer and didn’t really give defendant eye contact. The defendant seems to stare at many people in the Court room. All a guess but that’s what I think is most probable scenario.
